Although, C2C place individual samples onto vinyl. they are not actual records. So while the set is totally awesome, it's not technically difficult compared to some. For truly inbeatable skills check out Tony Vegas DMC 1999.
The most endearing thing about C2C is how musical their arranging is. 95% of the DJs/groups that contend for the DMC somehow forgot that the final product should be good music, and not just self indulgent masturbation at 300 bpm.
You're right, the best tablists combine technicality with musical proficiency. Like you said, many tablists get too technical showing off their skill and it gets to a point where it's only impressive to other tablists - but noise to an outsider.
You are absolutely right, I've always felt the same way. I am also convinced that bands like C2C manage to be both technically and musically very pleasant to listen to.
To all those clearly deaf or tinnitus sufferers who dislike this do you understand how much skill, talent, and timing goes into just thinking up something like this let alone performing it in your studio, and then to do it live in comp? No? Well try it and see how far you get. Just awesome.
These guys are such amazing performers!!! Everything flows so smoothly for them! I saw them in San Francisco last night and they were so incredibly talented and interactive with the crowd. I love C2C!
This performance is so good it hurts. I thought it was all on the centry dub plate but I watched another vid of this set where they don't get it quite right and it really shows how good this set was. I love the Drop at 3'15", fuckin fabulous. R-r-r-espec' !
tetra is a album that gets better every time you listen to it! ... just made a 500 km trip and trough spoty I had to have listened to it ... maybe 4 times in a row .. love every song !!!
I think people don't realise how fuckin awesome this is. Each guy got an instrument, vocal or sound and they mix in togheter. Perfect Sync and sounds great! Keep it up guys.
Absolutelly amazing! I´ve been listening to C2C since 2016. Just found out the existence of this masterpiece video. As a brazilian myself, this performance really touched me
I remember the awe I felt when I first saw this clip. And still, it the technique, style and musically it's so outstanding. Their album is really good too. Thanks you random YT commenter!
I debated my ma for years that DJ'ing takes instrumental technique and compositional skill. This track won her over (a sick set is worth a million words)
Flawless. Dope as fuck.. Man I've been following the DMC battles since they started & this team is jus really rediculious. Totally different styles from others in the past & that's what separates them. Just really dope.. Really enjoyable to watch & listen to. Keep it up !!
Man when I first saw these dudes' sets back in the day, I was pissed off they got custom vinyl pressed cause switching records used to be such a big part of the DMC that it really felt like cheating but yeah that is some MAD PREPARATION. Plus in hindsight, they were just way ahead of the curve since now it's all time coded vinyl so changing records is dead and you can use 500 cue points and shit. I do miss having to change records being part of the challenge, but people can do way cooler shit now so I dunno.... that's progress I guess 😛
Awesome, first turned on by " down the road " then started listening/viewing others, love it. Would love to see them live. Love the mix of the blues, yeah baby...
Electro-Swing is the next big thing. There won't be anymore new genres, but now comes the age of fusion. Acoustic and electronic music go hand in hand, and this will be the next musical evolution.
swing became well established in the late 40s, coincidentally along the same time the word hipster was coined. not really sure which came first, just pointing out some trivia that contradicting your funny comment.
