C4schools all 3 themes from late 1980s to aprx 1993

All three themes used during the early part of the 1990s with itv schools on channel 4. The last two themes will be familer to most people who know of itv schools, the first was also occasionally used, mainly to fill gaps before the programmes started offically. If I recall correctly, possibly with a non-moving itv schools ident, which would fade out and then The Journey or Just A Minute would start at the offical time for starting itv schools. But maybe I'm wrong,

It's one of the most nostalgia-bringing pieces of music ever created. I'm instantly taken back to a completely innocent time, a time where the world was huge and new and... well, you probably know how I feel!

If you survey your peers, some do remember it, but a large proportion don’t sadly. The one thing in common is that nobody can remember ANY programme that was played, it’s only the music!

I have a copy of 'The Journey' on my PC by James Aldenham, maybe he was known as a different artist back then :) I love The Journey and Just a Minute. Many fond memories as a kid running home for dinner just to hear this music on TV before going back to school. I was born in 74 so in the 80's these were my best TV memories :) Totally inspired me to get into music production and PC Graphics interests as an adult :) Thanks Mr.JAMES!! :D

From 10:01, the music develops a clock ticking sound (each second), which makes me wonder if they had planned to use a clock animation similar to S4C Schools (1993-1999).

I remember itv schools on channel 4. With the spinning ITV logo. Classic TV. TV is not like this anymore which is a shame.

I would say "dude, it's just a logo"... but sadly, I agree. In fact, nostalgia aside, these idents were better, more informative and more factual than TV is these days!

The people who produced these masterpieces and the TV that came after them wouldn't believe just how low media would stoop in the coming decades. This seems like such a long time ago now, a lifetime. In 2020 the ITV Schools logo and music would be considered islamaphobic and offensive to the trans community.

Love this and it has a tinge of Essential Platinum DJ Dougal about it. 04:14 late nineties happy hardcore :) Yet this is late 80s/ early 90s so cool

@@EddersGTI Yeah... that's just 'Bonkers'!! LOL!! 😆 MC Sharkey; Dougal and Hixxy. Yep, you're right- would've been a tad pacier on the BPM along with them horns whistles glowsticks lasers and hi-vis! Helter Skelter, Sanctuary and the like. Its a conspiracy ITV/ C4 Schools were just secretly prepping us for the scene heee-heeee!! 😆😂😂😂

Waiting for "How We Used To Live" to start, another YTV classic with Redvers Kyle doing the newsreel type section, quality! p.s Don't ever remember hearing the first track ever being played out whenever I was watching this playout before a schools programme.

The irony being that not long after this was launched, ITV introduced a brand new identity - designed exactly to do dual-branding - and this work based on the old ITV identity, having been so expensive to create, was kept on-screen for another 4 years.

@David Lewis: ITV wanted to concentrate on having a full daytime schedule on the regional franchises of the network, so moved the Children's learning programmes to Channel 4 3 days after my 12th birthday in fact on the 14th September 1987. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITV_Schools

I can clear this up for anyone who doesn't understand The Itv roto would spin to one of Channel 4's own interval tracks during 1989 then the 2 minute sequence would follow(S4C was different they never had any interval tracks as they didn't opt in till 9.30am)Channel 4 also used a stills of the 3d clock before schools programmes By 1993 the roto was never used for the first programme just 40 seconds of the clock but it did appear for all other programmes if there anything else I can clear up for you I'll be happy to help if I can
