* JULY 2024 UPDATE * Its been almost 3 years since installing these seats. I've daily driven the car about 50k miles in that time. TLDR: they have not held up too well. Im 5' 10" 190lbs. The padding is completely flattened and they are not comfortable to sit in anymore. For a daily driver, I do not recommend them. For a weekend car that needs seats, these will be just fine. I am in the middle of making a follow up video to explain in further detail. Starting the channel back up for weekly uploads!
After watching this video I have come to the conclusion I will probably rebuild my OEM seats rather than go through all the bother of installing aftermarket Amazon specials. I thought the video illustrated both positive and negative aspects of installing the seats….. for me it was a huge “no” considering I’d need to give up memory seat location and adjustability….not to mention needing to pull the fuses because the OEM seat circuitry was compromised. On the plus side I can appreciate the detail you went through to do the installation. I thought you covered everything quite well. The seats do look really good. I believe they are Flambeau knock-offs. Everything considered it was a decent video… and an honest point of view on what to expect when installing budget friendly seats. Thanks
Thanks man! I appreciate the solid feedback. Looking back, now that I've driven about 50k miles since install, I wish I had rebuilt the factory seats. These were a good temporary seat but after a few years and ton of miles, they just aren't holding up very well. Im 5' 10" ~190lbs - The padding has all but flattened to the point of constant discomfort. Im happy I tried them out, but Im certainly looking forward to putting something a bit nicer in the car.
I like these seats and if I didn't have the seat memory option might have considered them but I'm not willing to give up my easy exit and memory function.
I get that. I've enjyoed them the past few years. But Im ready for the creature comforts again lol. Plus these have NOT worn nicely. They're low key falling apart.
Idk if I would trust those seats or brackets in an accident or any form of racing or speeding. I have had a unregulated cheap seat break in the pivot mechanism before in a 25 mph minor accident before. Also the edge distance for the holes look thin. It's about 3/4" minimum for a 1/2" hole for future reference. As long as you know about the safety risk enjoy. Firm seat make a huge difference in a c5.
It has ben about 9 months. Are you still satisfied with these seats - how is the drivers side holding up? They look fantastic, wondering about the durability?
Thanks a bunch for the details. I just got my seats today and was wondering what the appropriate sized hardware needs to be - much appreciated!! Also, great details on the appropriate fuses to pull. Hey, with the new seats, have you though about "upgrading" to a harness seat belt?
They're pretty good. Not the greatest but I wouldn't take em on a multi-day road trip. They're fine for a cruise but by the end of they day you're a bit stiff.
They won't fit on the new seats. And I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't really take the old brackets off considering it has the motors and what not connected to it.
Straight up. This video has been out for 2 years now. Never once noticed that I didn’t show the seats installed. I’ll definitely take this feedback into new videos. You don’t have to be rude tho lol.
Bruh. It’s how you ended your comment. “…, wow” doesn’t come off as a genuine critique. Makes it douchey. I’m down to hear legit criticism. I need it. And I’ll always hear it. But I’ll also call our people being rude lol. Like I said, thanks for the feedback. You don’t gotta be rude tho.
I think the seats are comfortable , snd are certainly safer than something held down with amazon cheapo parts. I don't need a race seat, I need comfort for pleasant touring .
