I'm always afraid I'm going to break some really expensive discontinued trim piece whenever I need to disassemble any interior parts. Nice job. As always, thanks for the how to videos!
Very good video on the door panel removal for a C5 Corvette. For those watching, I will say two things of note... 1. It's almost inevitable that you'll break 1 of the retaining clips while doing this so it wouldn't hurt to preemptively buy a set prior to doing this. 2. Although shown, but not mentioned, it's best/easiest to put the door panel starting with the top corner that's closest to the rear of the vehicle. If that makes sense.
This was a timely find! My passenger regulator apparently self destructed after a long drive in pouring rain. Thanks for the work in creating the video.
I dont have a corvette but i share your engine. And having u make repair videos on ur vette. Makes me want one just so i have a guide on repairing it. Keep it up man.
I've had to take the door panel off several times for different things. It's kind of a pain each time, but the process is straight forward. Good luck on your project!
Managed to break, both the door panel and the window controls: 1. Window controls have one tab that slides up and on the other end it slides...like sideways (so you lift the tab end up and then pull sideways). I was yanking both ends straight up 2. I didn't notice in the sped up montage, but once you pop out the tabs on the door panel, the panel needs to slide up (the top tabs are the slide-up-ones). I thought all tabs were the same and pulled out too hard at the top and broke the panel a bit.
Not sure what years yours is, but for sure with 2004 one of the worst things you can do is try to pop off the window/door controls from the outside like you did, Best to get the whole door panel loose/off and then push the tabs that hold them in (on the inside) and then lift out with not force. I did it this way as instructed in another video and that created cracks in the rubber and to the window going up and down at the controls of a ghost particularly when it rained. Had to replace. As for the other pieces, we all tend to think we are going to break them, but if you know where they are attached and used quick sharp movements they pop out with no problem 90% of the time.
Just an FYI. You don't need to remove the door/window control module. Leave it in place. Once the panel is loose there's plenty of harness length to disconnect it from behind the panel. Less labor and less risk of damage to a very expensive part.
What is it that you outbin the door handle.. my c5 Corvette have 3 little holes in my hands but I dont know what goes in them or on them??? Someone help me out please 👌
Sorry, I didn't really look at that. I even had my door panel off again last week for something. If you had asked a few days earlier I could have checked for you, sorry.
