It's a damn good thing these videos are here so I know what to look out for. I plan on using a T56 in a formula one car project of mine and I'm sure glad I have your videos so I know what to look out for when getting a transmission.
Billet keys, bronze fork pads and a steel 3-4 fork if yours is aluminum. Those 3 things fix the normal issues with the T56. If your main shaft and the 5-6 cluster are worn then get a stronger 27 spline mainshaft. For big power you can get a 30 spline main but that requires a C6 diff.
Sorry, I did skip over that part in this video. Look at 3:25 and you can see a hole in the shifter shaft. There is a roll pin that goes through the linkage and the shaft. Drive the roll pin out with a punch and the linkage slips right off. The roll pin may be covered with a rubber boot.
I've always used www.thegearbox.org/home.html and ampdistributing.com/collections/t56-6-speed-transmission. I've been getting my differential parts from www.txdrivetrain.com/ with great results and will probably buy trans parts from them in the future. www.tickperformance.com is another good parts source. Mainly just depends on who has the parts in stock but thegearbox is my main supplier and I have no complaints with their service or parts quality.
@@xpsgarage OK cool glade to meet another car guy,my 2 brothers don't turn wrenches,so I do it for them.im building a 1997 mustang saleen car #97-0118 for my brother right now(the 4.6 2valve dropped #1 exhaust valve so we found a 2007 shelby gt500 engine in Omaha nebraska.car is done on electrical and is almost done and running cooling system is the last thing to do.that car sounds crazy.i really like be back in a corvette again,c5 are no match to the 80 red mirror top car I had and build mildly with side pipes.nice videos and glade to know you.my mustang friends have all consider me a loner now,but 3 of them and 1 wife really impressed with my 7500.00 c5 convertable (I'm a chevy guy now 😂
@@Philip-wo5ij Sounds like a fun project. I wanted a fox body mustang really bad when I was a teenager but never got one. The C5 is actually my very first chevy.
