C5 Quadriplegic changes catheter bags for bed 

I will have my caregiver rinse out the bed bag for me which is usually every other day but I only keep bed bags for 1 week before changing to a new one. I also have my leg bag cleaned with a solution made by Urocare to keep it from getting dirty because I use those for a full month.

Robert Taylor My leg bag is a Urocare - sport bag. They make them for wearing shorts and they come in two sizes as well as left and right leg options. I don't use any extensions just the fabric strap and quick release valve for the bag. Here is the product website to check out: www.urocare.com

They do Not come with the quick release valve so you have to buy it as well. When I order I buy new leg bags, quick release valves and fabric leg straps. I but 2 at a time and switch back and forth with my caregiver washing them between uses.

It's not hard to change the catheter but you definitely need to know what you are doing. So he doesn't have to pee during the day? What type of catheter does he use?

I don't mind the catheter really at all anymore.. It was weird to get used to at first but it was the best option for me and now it seems normal as anything. UTI's are a problem with any option we have but as long as I keep it clean, flushed out and drink a lot of water you should be ok. If you have hand function then there might be some other good options but if you're a quad with little or no hang function then it's probably the best way to go.

@@LiveToRoll I'm a C6 incomplete with half decent left hand. 32 years in now, and just having to intermittent Cath, and I hate it. It's so impractical. In all my years I have never had a UTI, so they do worry me. Not overly keen on things sticking in or out of my body. But cheers for the reply.
