Hello everyone and welcome back to Brink of Speed! Today I will be doing a video showing you all you need to know about the changes, price, and upgrades to the C7 Chevy Corvette, from 2014-2019.

Chevy really did a great job with the C7, which I'm sure inspired a lot of 1st time Corvette buyers, myself included. I have an '18 Z51 2LT and I love it. The C8's are ok, but I have no plans to trade my C7 for one.

Great video! So hard to hit every differences but just a few that I know off the top of my head. 2015 they added a auxiliary transmission cooler for the A8s that were overheating on the track (front of car), the radios changed over the years (Some were HD radio capable, some with hard drives, some without HD, etc), the resolution of the backup camera improved, 2014s had the tow hook blank in the body bumper panel but no tow hook receptacle, 2015s and forward had the receptacle installed for the tow hooks, the torque converter issue was solved I think in 2018 somehow, the Torque Tube issues were solved in 2018 somehow, improvements in engine build process reduced the failures of the AFM lifters in 2018, the rear suspension geometry was changed somehow in 19' as the track alignment guide increased rear camber recommendations since they could now adjust Toe angle better to accommodate it, they changed oil recommendation to special ESP 0W-40 in 2019 to accommodate both daily driving and track driving. I think that is all I remember, i don't know much about the paint and interior trim as that wasn't as important to my track life with my early year 2014, which as you can imagine had many of the issues that were fixed later down the line...smdh!

Great job in explaining the Corvette from 2014 thru present. I just have to correct one mistake you made about the horsepower and torque rating starting with the 2014 model. When the C7 was introduced in 2014 the horsepower was 460 with the performance exhaust and 455 w/o the performance exhaust. Torque was 465 with performance exhaust and 460 w/o performance exhaust. I believe these numbers carried through from 2014 through 2019.

Almost a year ago I bought a 2016 Z06, 3LZ, A8, convertible in Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic (exposed carbon hood with body color vents) with Kalahari interior. I've added a DSX supercharger lid, AFE Cold Air Intake, and the Range device to keep all cylinders firing. I love it! Thanks for the video!

Mike, I just purchased a 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 3LT Coupe. I live in Arlington, TX and want to know about Texas laws regarding having a front license plate. Is it required and do the local police and highway patrol follow if it is required? I have the plastic mount for the front plate in the back but it was never installed. Thanks, Charlie

Great info, appreciate you assembling it all! But you forgot (again) that the oil swap on '19's to 0w-40 eliminates the need to change to 15w-50 for track work.

Great vid. 2019 also introduced the Euro Final Edition and Drivers Series Editions. I believe the 2019 Z06's have the ZR1 diffs, even better cooling than previous years, 0-40 ESP oil, and the new trans fluid. GM also got rid of some options and had a price hike mid-year.

Another great Vlog Mike! Amazing break down of all model years. The Grand Sports are 460hp and 465 torque lol! I need my extra 5 hp lol! The only option available with the Carbon 65s were the Ceramic Brakes, so not sure how the base price was 80k and not 93k for the GS and 104k for Z06. General Lee Out!

Brink of Speed / Mike, so I have another question you might be able to answer. On the Red Interiors, how well do they keep their color. I’ve thought about a white Stingray with red interior or a Grand Sport with the red interior. I just don’t want to find them fading and turning pink down the road.

Gary Schoolcraft That is a great question! I think they would be just fine, if you have ever seen an old Corvette, like a C4 with red interior, they still look great today as long as someone has taken care of it. The key with leather is, you have to keep it out of the sun as much as possible (garage your car unless you are driving it) and clean & condition your leather often. 😊

Another great upload Mike. Almost simple enough for ole school guy to follow. lol As to the Carbon65 Edition, yeah, go figure why a "Carbon" edition didn't come with Carbon Ceramic brakes and a few other aesthetic area where it could have Carbon Fiber appointments. Your base prices for both the GS and ZO6 are off though. Around $94k for the GS and $104k for the ZO6. To those prices you can add another $7k for the Carbon Ceramic Brakes. This is still my favorite special edition Vette. As to the ZR1, since we're into an extended production period for it, do you happen know if these later built ZR1s have the DOT4 brake fluid? Save the Wave.

Peter Carey Thanks Peter Lol! Yeah, General Lee corrected me on the pricing for the Carbon 65’s also. I’m not sure why the internet said they were those other prices, oh well. I haven’t heard about DOT4 going into the later production ZR1’s but I’m sure they are adding it to those too. 😊

Good stuff. Maybe a future video with current auction resale statistics for the C7? (Data from Manheim or Blackbook). Depressing numbers for owners, but certainly would give prospective owners a rough baseline to negotiate/purchase.

Thanks, Mike. Great video. Unfortunately, GM totally screwed the pooch with the A8 transmission with AFM. How in the world can you not mention anything about it? It’s literally the #1 issue.

Brink of Speed The 19ZO6 has stronger axles and gears maybe from the ZR1? Also 2019 ZO6 has an additional map sensor on the passenger side of the blower like the v3/zl1's have behind the driver side. This reads outside pressure and will let the oem boost gauge work on an auto car when going procharger with no issue.

Your video is so interesting, is there a chance that you make a discuss video about all the blue shades of Corvette? I dig as i could but im sure there's a lot of it. What i learn are some of the blue shades of Corvette like pennant, marina, targa, admiral, navy, jetstream, laguna. But i dont know what year or generation they been introduced. And What shade of blue is referred as the "Blue Devil"? :)

nice coverage,,i just got a 18 grandsport 2lt...do not undersrand all the rambling-on about dot 3 brake fluid??if something this minisqual was an isuue in a car like this i beleive it wouldve been changed 2 dot 4??

I love the C7, but I can’t understand why they would take a sports car and put active fuel management system in it! Which destroys the motor and the transmission. You can save those with flushing your transmission and putting a range technology in the plug in the car!

The extra few horsepower from 450-460 is from the NPP exhaust on the base/ Z51 cars. I’m assuming that the GS just comes with the exhaust, by default. Also, 2014 got HD radio, but was removed for 2015-2017, and I think it reappeared in 2018-2019. The PDR was added in 2015, I believe. CarPlay/ Android Auto was added in 2016, as well as the silver start button, and the soft close trunk, plus flat bottom steering wheel. This is just off the top of my head. If I think of anything else, I’ll update my post. But I think I added most of the stuff I don’t remember seeing in the video. Carbon 65 Z06 with Z07 package, with a 7M, would be my first choice. But, alas, it’s an arctic white Z51, 7M, that I ended up going with.
