2s? They don't look like 2s based on centering and edges. I'd say they were more in the 5-6 range.

We also didn't see the backs. Could be heavily stained or used on a pin board etc. Seemed harsh, though, as one of the Aaron's looked like a possible 6-7.

Would it be too much for Antiques Roadshow to find someone who knew at least a LITTLE about baseball cards. These are 1954-56 Topps. He mentions her missing the Mickey Mantle, but Mantle did not appear in 1954-55 Topps because he was under exclusive contract with Bowman. Those Koufax's are 4 or 5 in quality, and those alone would fetch $3K at auction. The Aarons also. She probably has more than $15K worth here. And he doesn't mention the two '54 Ted Williams bookends will fetch high since they are so rarely found in above-fair condition.

Wow who is this guy? Those Aaron’s are easy 7+ and in the 8-12k range at that grade. 2s have paper loss and creases. This guy must grade for BGS lol

Brandon Smith then Rick would offer like $500 for them and explain to the lady that he would need to get them restored, framed, and they’ll probably sit in his shop for a couple years and it would put a huge financial burden on him if he didn’t sell them so he’s taking a huge risk here

Yeah, I don’t think the card grade would be a 2. I was shocked when he said that. The cards showed very little corner ware and no creasing. Creasing lowers the grade to around a 2 and a 1. These cards would be a 3 to 5 , not a 2. She had around 4 to 6 grand not 2 to 3. And if PSA was there to trim them your looking a 7’s lol.

Insanely grossly undervalued!! I'd in a heartbeat buy this collection for $3-5k. And these are not 2s. There are more like 5s up to 7s from what I can see. Amazing collection!

I agree that they seem to be undervalued. He might have seen something we did not, but that sort of thing would be great info to add into the program for other potential collectors. I do recall seeing another grader on the show pointing out certain flaws that brought card values down and they zoomed in very close to make it visible to the audience. I'd buy this bunch for that amount in the blink of an eye, as would thousands of others even if they were actually the condition he stated.

Absolutely horrible appraisal. Those three Hank Aaron cards are at least a 4 and worth well over 5 grand on their own. The Killebew is a rookie...ugh. I hope she didn’t sell these and asked for a second opinion

I think those are better than 2's probably 3 to 5 grades, I wouldn't take this experts opinion as gospel, I would send them into PSA before selling any

Where did they find this guy?? Wow!! First off he misses the killebrew rookies and the kaline rookie. Then as everyone is saying clearly undergrads by 2 to 4 grads minimum and undervalue by over $10000 easy.. Just another example of a little knowledge is dangerous. Please people always get a second opinion.

Terrible appraisal. Prices were definitely lower when this first aired, but those are almost all mid-grade... only lower grade ones I noticed were one of the 54 Williams and one of the Koufax rookies. Those Aaron rookies are going to be 4-6's I would guess and today you could get close to $20k just for those 3. Hope she didnt sell.

Those 3 hank rc Worth 15k. Ted Williams worth about 5-7k. Get your cards graded. Then Go On EBay And See Them Sell In The Grade You have. Then you know the true value. This guy has no clue. And if he does. .he's low balling the estimate.

I smile and take a deep breath when I see Baseball Cards on The Antiques Roadshow...... Can't begin to comprehend how many "cards" I had back as a young boy along with my twin brother...and we decided to put them into the spokes of our bikes after hearing and seeing them in other kid's bikes one Summer....we too wanted to Be Cool.....LOL..... The Sound of Money going down the streets that summer.....Oh Well.....We still survived! Cheers From Ohio

" A close friend" gives a bunch of cards to your kid and the first thing you did was work out what was worth money and went on tv. she knew they were worth money, hence calling her dad. A normal person wouldn't accept them. Really shows how good of a person she is.

I didn't go on the show to find out what they were worth to sell them, but to insure them. I live in Florida where hurricanes and floods are common, and I wanted to protect my friend's collection. I have no intention of ever selling any of them for any reason. And if they were worth a tremendous sum -- I wanted to send them back to my friend -- for him to sell, if he wanted. How lovely of you to assume the worst of a complete stranger.

Between the 3 Aaron Rockies - The Koufax rookies and the two JR 1955 Topps cards . Your talking an easy $7000-$8000 . That’s if they’re grades of 2-3. This guys assessment was crap . I wonder if he tried to buy it from her and rip her off .

Uh, awful appraisal. At auction, probably 10 x that amount. The two Ted Williams cards, bottom center, graded 2 are worth near your entire appraisal.

I truly hope this woman did NOT sell these cards for the valuation provided by this “expert” i hope that she is either smart enough to get a real expert to look at these to provide a true valuation; and/or sees all these comments before even considering selling. I’m all for a good deal, but this “expert appraiser” is an absolute joke.

I think we are missing the worst part of this, these were given to her young son from long time friends just to end up selling them instead of respecting the kindness of having given one mans child hood collection to another young boy that loves baseball and collecting the cards. Tell the the time stamp of the video where she said she’s selling the collection? Because I missed that part. People go on Antique Roadshow for many reasons but the most common is for appraisals so they know value. I’d tell her to simply put all the cards in a one touch protector and send them to PSA grading. Then check eBay “sold” prices. Hope she keeps them but u never know.

Great cards. Do have that 55 Spahn. Nice big thick cards. It is being said that cards like these never were in mint condition by today’s standards even when they first came out.
