Also. Thank you Daniela Urban. Give Ginny a bonus, know she's independent. But she worked her A.. Off for the EDD like an independant Liason for your entire entity. She really helped all off us and your operators thru her DAILY, several times a day post to help so many of us dealing with this whole process. She really went above and beyond and I think she should be rewarded for her work ethic and overall dedication to this whole program. Jest my thoughts. Please consider them. Thank you Daniela. Ginny is a 👼
Thanks Ginny for clarifying the whole 18 months 12 months fiasco. I have come to the conclusion that collecting unemployment benefits in California is more work than having a job. 😄
Ginny your such a beautiful person inside and out. You have helped me through the start of pua, without you coming on explaining what going on i would've been so lost. Edd is so hard to get on the phone. So I just want to say Thank you and that your the best and we all appreciate you.❤💯
Many You Tubers have made videos about EDD ect, but I honestly think that Ginny's have stood out among them all. She digs deep into the important issues, and covers everything from A to Z.
@@Cursedbutmaker Yes, Shelley has been a help to many people as well. However in my humble opinion I think Ginny tends to cover a little bit more information covering all aspects of the Unemployment issues. I think both of these young ladies have done a great job covering different aspects, and actually there's a few more small channels that are helpful without all the B.S.. I'm thankful for ALL of those channels who dug through the mess to give everyone the important information needed without unnecessary Bull $hit.
Dear any EDD worker's who may be reading this comment. I want to Thank those people who worked hard to fix myself and others problems. I realize that you're not to blame for all the problems this last year, and I truly appreciate those who helped me finally getting my pending & unpaid weeks.
I'm finally all caught up ...all my edd certification was on pending/disqualified weeks frm Dec 26 2020 to Sep 4 2021 has been paid...all in one lump sum into my edd boa account..this happen after reaching out to my Assembly Member Rep District 58...thank u for all ur informative video helped me alot..thanx again Ginny
@@shabazz360 3 days..then went thru the process of signing form n releasing info to the rep to represent my case to edd...all in all took almost 1 week later to get all pending/disqualified payments into paid
I was on DA/PUA since March 2020...last payment received was for the weeks Dec 20 2020....since then Dec 26 and forward to Apr 3 2021 all certification was pending/disqualified....and no weeks certification or update on my UiOnline ever since smh then finally reached out to my Assembly member District 58 and...2 weeks later ALL WAS PAID 8 months worth
Laid off 7/10/2020. Reapplied at B.Y.E. end. I received a NEW claim with a lower ($25 less) W.B.A. Kept on old claim. All extensions given. I just read again: "A person who has no income in the past 18 months does not have enough wages to qualify for a new regular state unemployment insurance claim." Based on further readings, it states that people like me should be getting benefits from the new claim that was filed. We should start seeing the transfers taking place. This is where I need the further information.
If you were awarded a new claim, then next you would he transfered to that new claim. Not sure where the confusion is here - you already filed and qualified if you received an award letter. There's no question of elligibility if you already were awarded the claim.
Yesterday I finally received the last of my old Unpaid weeks! EDD actually fixed them without ever calling me which is surprising. So I just wanted to share this with anyone who is dealing with similar issues.. Thanks to Ginny & some viewers, I was able to navigate the Mess and finally get everything owed to me. This whole situation has taught me to fight and not give up. Thanks again for everything you've done. Your channel has been very helpful to me and countless others!
@@marianakchidze8897 It was from May and June. It was 7 weeks of a extension. I had numerous problems with my account. They had fixed lot's of old pending weeks, but the 7 weeks of Unpaid weeks were the last thing to be fixed/paid. I was told on the phone on August 22 that someone might call me within two weeks to fix it, but thankfully I got 7 emails from EDD on September 16th . Even before looking in my in box I.pretty much knew that it was probably about those 7 weeks of Unpaid, and that's was correct!!! So now I'm sharing this with others who might be wondering about " Unpaid weeks" Good luck.
You can only Backdate a PUA claim which has been filed after December 27, 2020 to December 6, 2020 NO MATTER WHAT. Also if you haven't had a response to your backdate that you did on ASK EDD with 5 to 7 days, then EDD suggests to do it again. I have backdated several clients and the last one which was just filed on August 26, 2021, I had to complete (3) times before EDD backdated the claim. So keep trying but wait at least (7) days before reapplying for the backdate on ASK EDD. Calling into EDD will not do anything to resolve this because they cannot backdate your claim over the phone.
Also a computer glitch, I was told, in another state caused a payment to another interest to not go through and I had to close the new account I just got and open another new account with a new payment method. I just want to thank Ms. Ginny for her consist posts, and all these things I had to go through, including losing everything and my car being rob of the possessions I had left, and my self employment equipment, were stolen through this pandemic, it was a comfortable thinking someone was in your corner. That backdating went completely over my head. Thank for your repeating you information over and over, until I finally understood that.
Hello there from California! Can you verify the million dollar question these days on whether it's too late to reopen an existing pua claim you were approved for but never received benefits for? And if so, what are the stipulations and laws on reopening such a claim? Thank you
Very good video!! I just found out about the requirement of “reconnecting to the workforce” when applying for next claim from an EDD representative. I never knew this; thanks for having your guest explain it!!
I would like to thank you for all of your help! You are so amazing! You are totally correct about getting assistance from our assembly member. I received my money fast! Stay blessed and way more extraordinary than all the rest!
here i was thinking i was going to be ok having a full 6 months of working before i was on unempolyment for these last 12 months, they should wave that 1300 to qualify i lost my jobof 6 years to no fault of my own and finding suitable work living back home with my parents since all this happened that are very high risk with health issues i have to be extra careful to not bring anything bak home to them if i was living alone id have no problems
this has sort of helped and gave me hope to appeal my claim. i’ve been unemployed since 05/02/21 and have been certifying up until 09/12/21 and i never got approved it was always pending. I just no changed my address and finally got something in the mail saying i was denied. But i never got my phone interview and have done everything correctly. Also i can’t get ahold of anyone for the life of me. I’m more pissed i’ve been certifying and have not worked since may and then once i change my address i get a piece of mail saying denied! I’m going to send in the appeal tomorrow but it’s so frustrating
According to EDD’s website (their News page) there’s a statement released on 9/17/21 that EDD is extending benefits for one more week after the initial expiration they had set- which was week ending 9/4/21. Supposedly now we are to receive benefits for one more week for week ending 9/11/21. But how do we get this extra week?? Because when I logged into my UI account I don’t see any new certification forms available to certify for the additional week. My “certify for benefits” page still says I have no weeks to certify and that my claim expired on 9/4/21.
GREAT Video! EDD Finally filed my new claim (4-11-21 - 4-11-22) and received a new award letter (I had over $1,300 in wages back in MAR '20 & JUN '20 quarters) for $450/wk benefit amt. However, the separation from my last employer was Aug 1 2021. Since the separation date was before Sep 6th, am I still covered by the Covid reasons for leaving? (Covid was the actual reason).
To clarify, some applicants that have reached their end benefit year, and have reapplied without having wages in that 12-month period we're getting awarded new claims? Maybe I didn't understand what your guest said correctly. My situation - initial claim date 06/21/2020 - reapplied at my 12 month interval 06/21/2021 - got award letter for new claim with prior 18 months income reported on new claim (income reported for Q1 and Q2 of 2020, lay off occurred at the end of Q2 2020) - got denied because of no new income in the 12 months since initial filing.
Sorry.... In your comment you states you were denied..? Yes, claims filing a second consecutive claim after the year ended must have earnings within their prior benefit year.
@@ginnysilver Yes. The denial letter came after I contacted the EDD to get my payments out of pending. Which I already received an award letter for the new claim. Payments pending we're from previous extensions from the initial claim.
i am a claimant that benefit year ended aug 15. I do have 18 months base pay, but I dont have any 12 month wages. I was answered very quickly from EDD when I re- applied. They quickly sent me a letter with a 1277 invalid claim. then i got a letter stating i qualify for $450 but the letter is not meant to be an award. So as of now they deny me a new claim based on not re- entering the work force in the last 12 months.
@Trader Girl Hi, if u had no wages during your 12 mo benefit year, you are not eligible for a new claim, but you should receive $300 + WBA per week thru 9/4/21, plus one week Fed Ed, if you qualify for that, all on your old claim. Hope that helps!
Hello GInny , my first time trying to apply for unemployment, and I got a balance of zero . I don’t know what went wrong and I can’t get anyone on the phone to help . Do you have a video how the new applications is setup or a tutorial on how to apply for 2023 . Thanks for all you do .
I opened a new claim after the 12 month period with wages I received in the 18 month time frame. I received a letter stating I did not qualify for an extension because I had no earned income in the 12 month time frame, so is this earned income in the 18 month time frame not valid anymore?
I tried filing a new claim but it said to “stop” You do not need to reapply . you did not earn enough wages to qualify for a new claim . Continue to certify if you have weeks available and check your payment status on UI online. So I don’t know what that means to continue to certify if I have weeks available yet I don’t qualify for a new claim?
@@ginnysilver so basically I’m done. I can’t get anymore Assistence from EDD? Even If AOC’s Bill is approved will I still be unable to get assistance or I will get it because I still have a claim balance?

Please I wanna ask what should I get done to my application. I got paid only for once and since then, I’ve been on pending since June. What do I do please🙏🙏
There seems to have been no mention of the $10,200 unemployment refund since July and millions of people are still waiting. I check my IRS transcript regularly, but nothing changes. Do you have any information on that? Thanks!
what about the fact we are in a pandemic, this wasnt just normal unemployment, there were a serious serious lack of jobs. how can they keep the same qualifications? this needs to be addressed. you cannot keep the same requirements as "normal years" and "pandemic years"
I applied for edd claim for the first time on aug 24th and I got a mail the following week showing my claim balance of 14k but the edd account number wasn't included in the mail . Ever since then my portal has just be showing your application has been processed it's not changing to certification and it's going to 3 weeks now
finally got my backpay after waiting 14 weeks. This morning I certified and now my payments say False Statement Penalty Week for week... SMH now I can't get paid again after waiting all that time
Did Edd change me to a regular unemployment claim? i was on fed ed and after o got the septermber 11 week my claim balance went up to 12 weeks of my weekly.
Im in similar position but very confused with thé long unnecesary explanation, my balance went up to 13 weeks...bottom Line I can't figure this out. Can't file new claim, hope they'll automatically send us to certify for the weeks to come.

Hi Ginny. I have a question. I stopped certifying for benefits for 6 weeks now because I found a ft job. They owe me 6 certifications in pay and I still haven't even received an interview. My assembly member said I have to wait for an interview. I went on my edd account, it says to reopen claim or my UI benefits becomes inactive. Do I really need to do this because I am currently working. Please help
Ok I Have a question, My wife applied for UI back when this first started, she got one letter saying she was denied then another one right after that she was approved, never got anything. She put in appeal going by that first denied letter. Still nothing she finally spoke with somebody at Edd was told it was in appeals as the first of This month, September. They told her they don’t see a reason why she was denied that was most likely a screwup on their part and she should have it through appeal but as of yet we haven’t heard nothing receive nothing what’s going what can we do. A grateful US Army soldier
Hi Ginny. Thank you for everything that you are doing. She said that PEUC don't have a date for backdating. What about overlapping claims, since we were out of work at that time and we quality? Can we still request the backdate again?

Hello !!! Good day to you.am I have question regarding my UI application I applied last September 20, 2021 and I received a notice of unemployment award last September 28 2021, but in the quarter table I got zero amount . For the reason that i don’t know. They asked me to submit a copy of my W2,pay stub, payroll/ledger from my employer and I submitted it to the address in the award notice.but it so sad that address cannot be found by the USPS through priority mail and my shipment back it to me or return to sender. I try to submit it to another UI Center here in California and it’s been received when I track my shipment. But it’s been 4 weeks from now I didn’t hear any update. Am getting calling and calling but nobody entertain me or always try again later. I am wondering if I am in the right direction for submitting again to another UI center which I know they are not the one handle my case.. helpless thank you and appreciate your time…
Help!! Really confused. Re-applied at my End of Benefit Tear. Received a DNCP letter. After Sept. 4 Never received the Fed-Ed payment.(Was Never on Fed-Ed). Then a Claim Tracker Button appeared stating I had to have a Phone Interview (only had a previous problem with claiming an old residual check. The State Asembly Memeber helped clear that up). Received Another Letter/Text/Inbox Message that I was to be transferred from the DNCP program to a New UI. Now a Re-Open Claim button appeared. But its says if you haven't certified for awhile or on the new claim you must reapply. I already Reapplied at the End of Benefit Year the end of June and was told I would be on the DNCP program and transferred after PEUC ran out. SHOULD I WAIT TO BE TRANSFERRED OR DO I HAVE TO REOPEN A NEW CLAIM AGAIN (button) OR DO I HAVE TO HAVE A PHONE INTERVIEW per the Claim Tracker (THE CLAIM TRACKER INFO HAS CHANGED MULTIPLE TIMES. NOT SURE HOW ACCURATE THAT IS)???
Reopen claim is not the same as filing a new claim. Yes, I would click the button since it's likely to reopen your previously awarded DNCP claim. And yes, you likely will still need the phone interview so don't miss that call.
@@ginnysilver I started the Re-Ooen Claim and it is literally asking the same questions/process that I had to answer When I Re-Applied at My End of Benefits Year. Including having my Address and Information Verified AGAIN. I saved it as a Draft because I'm confused and not sure what to do. Any suggestions
Here’s a weird one: I got approved for a very low amount because i didn’t work much since my benefit year ended (there was no extension available at the time about 6 months ago, well after the first extension ended) and so even though they weren’t supposed to approve such a small amount of benefits, they did! So I got like 160$ a week for a couple months. When the new extension rolled out, I called and had them extend from the original prior claim because it was obviously for more. The Edd person then canceled out the 3 months of 160 weekly amount (it shows “canceled” in my history even tho I certified and got paid!) and he applied the extension to the prior one going forward. Good right?! Sure. Until they come back and ask me to pay back the 4 grand of canceled payments 😂 Do u think they will?? Their mistake right? Sheesh with all this!
I just got a letter from EDD today. Titled Notice of Determination for Federal-State Duration Benefits. It says effective date 9/05/2021. So I’m Super confused.
So my assembly member is representing me and “ fixing “ everything I was approved back in March when everyone had to file a new claim, I was paid 1nce, and now i have about 7 pending certifications. My representative finally got back to me and my funds are frozen pending a phone interview. What possibly are they going to ask me I have no idea what they could be asking , it’s a big chunk of money and could not get it resolved sooner because like everyone ese they stopped answering (EDD). Now my question is what kind of questions would they ask because my payment is pending the outcome of this interview, any ideas of what kind of questions they ask so I don’t mess this up?? Thanks 🙏

What’s the normal amount of time to wait for a phone Interview for a new claim ? I’ve been waiting 9 weeks and still haven’t gotten a phone interview scheduled- what can I do ?
Well ginny I know it ended two years ago but I know several folks recently taking there unclaimed pua claims to a n appeals hearing and getting all of it back that they missed.
Help me please i just got paid 3 weeks of claims which i sent in mid july a week after sept1 they said in my notification in mu uononline i needed to call a number to reopen claim I did and they said someone will be calling me no one ever did i then got email from edd about a interview sept 20 monday i went on the zoom interview with edd to find out this was a cal jobs recruiter they said they get nanes from edd to contact as of right now my ui online is no showinging pending or anything just says i need to reopen
I applied for benefits back in October and got denied because of missing wages, I filed an appeal and waited until march to speak to judge. Judge and edd agent both agreed that i was eligible even if i worked for a church however only through pua not unemployment. I applied again in April even contacted assembly member who also had no clue of what was going on and still got denied again. agent said it seemed like there was a wage overlap on my account and couldn't do nothing because it had already been denied. I am now waiting for my second interview with judge. Its ridiculous that almost a year later and have not been able to do anything about my case. Any recommendations from anyone ? i would highly appreciate it!

Hi Ginny...thanks a million..PUA is over..I have verified with Idme and I'm trying to file for a new claim is not accepting my original login info...am I supposed to create new login info?
@Ana No, you are supposed to have only one id.me account that can be used not just for EDD, but also for any government jobs you may apply for. Contact id.me for login help. I heard the owner replies to Facebook requests. Was in Ginny's old videos on id.me. 🍀
Ginny how goes ! my PUA ended 9/4, if another extension is passed, will it be added to old claim or will I have to open a new one if I'm working seasonal and job ends, will I qualify for a new regular UI claim if wages are eligible for one or will I stay on PUA and just deduct wages earned going forward ? 😉
Hello Ginny, I just got my backdated weeks and got them certified, however, I cannot find my card and I have moved from my address on file, I will like to mail a new card to my recent location so I could access those funds, but I am scared 😱 if I change the address on my UI page I might get disqualified, what should I do ?
I so appreciate this explanation Ginny! It's definitely clarified the 12/18 months. Unfortunately for me it's not good news but I'm trying my hardest to get out of this. Thank you for being on our side!🙏🏼🙏🏼
Ginny! All my ‘Not Paid’ payments got paid at 9pm last night. I’m talking from Dec and Jan. Ya. So I had received an email earlier in the day from my assembly member’s helper stating she was working on it. So now just need to obtain my final Fed Ed payment and finished. Thanks for everything! ♏️
Thank you, Ginny!!! Your videos have always been excellent! Thank you for advocating for us!! I reapplied last April as my benefit year ended. I won an award, very small amount, but would put food in the fridge. As the extension was approved, they gave me the extension. I imagine I have to wait till they put my new award up? My claim status tracker has a claim from 17, as my current claim! lol Again, thank you!! :)
Ginny i found a job that I've been at for 2 weeks and its not going to work out for me for many reasons.i plan on leaving asap.... should I keep collecting benefits since there only about a month worth of funds left..and reapply.....or do I need to report that I work and was paid...thanks in advance...
@@gamegang2824 Which "they" are you referring to? Who are you stating is the "they" stating today is the last date to backdate? EDD did not publish a last date to backdate - they published a last date to file a PUA claim - which is why I asked Daniela's opinion on this.
@@gamegang2824 So EDD has not stated an offical end date for backdating - they did state an end date to file a PUA claim and then instruct you to backdate the claim - I would NOT count on backdating being guaranteed any point in time after Oct 6 because PUA applications have closed - and I do caution this in several videos - but based on what Daniela (the attorney in this video) states, the request will likely be considered if there is GOOD CAUSE for your delay in backdating.
I am confused. I just got two letters from EDD. The first I knew about, which was the end of benefits. The second was dated from 9/11/21 concerning my Fed-Ed benefits called Fed-State Extended duration benefits? Thy say I am approved to recieve $450 a week for a total claim of 5,800.00. Not necessarily. Work requirement apply if you're filing for new claim but DNCP is a deferred claim that should roll into place from what I understand.

I sent you this question before so maybe you can answer it now. Regarding Backdating when I applied in July 2021 for PUA my application went thru with the claim starting date of 03/29/2020. Can I still back date to Feb 2 2020???? Or was my July claim already was backdated? I thought that the earliest date to claim for PUA was March 29 2020. So what do you think about me backdating till February 2 2020??? Thanks Ginny
If you were unemployed due to the pandemic at that date and qualify for backdating you can try. There are several issues which could result in it being denied such as different earnings in the new resulting base period, but you can try
@@ginnysilver Well my earnings were the same but I’m wondering if I would qualify for those two months for employment from 2/2/2020 to 03/29/2020 which is the date that I’ve already been paid from??? So I just go online and follow instructions? That wouldn’t trigger an audit of my whole claim would it? They would just deny this new backdate thing right ? I would just hate to open up a can of worms who knows what happens with that. 😂
I’m a confused the edd added money to my claim and also I received a paper saying my claim for fed ed extension is allowed on my regular claim. Do I need to reapply ? Even tho they dated 9-5-21 or is automatically filled ?
