Okay they literally have proof that the father took naked photos of them when they were children, they were clearly abused. I’m literally sick to my stomach. They should be set free, they have suffered long enough.
I agree with you 100%. I was a kid when this trial occurred and had no idea that the brothers were raped and tortured most their lives. EVERYONE needs to be aware these men are in prison 30 years later. One of the biggest injustices I am aware of.
@Natalia vincencci Yes of course.. when they were like a child they said: Hey lets make some photos of our private spots so we can kill our parents and say it was abuse.... LIKE NATALIA YOU CANT BE FUCKING SERIOUS!!DO YOU EVEN LISTEN TO YOURSELF? OR DID YOU EVEN LISTEN TO THEIR TRIALS??
@Natalia vincencci you’re an idiot. Children don’t take photos of themselves in those regions, especially naked. The fact that you think it’s normal is concerning.
@Natalia vincencci Then why were the photos (and the negatives) found among the parents' possessions in an envelope with the mother's signature on it? Get a life. And Erik was identified in one of the photos by a birth mark on his wrist.
@Audrey Kelly I see you replying to a lot of comments, and you seem really uneducated on a lot of things in this case. 1. Psychologists came forward after spending many hours with the brothers and testified that they abuse did in fact happen, family members also testified to this. 2. The brothers grew up in such a toxic environment that they never knew anything outside of it. This is a pattern among abused children. 3. You are very heartless and cold for not believing these men. There testimonies are graphic, they were extremely emotional, and as I said before MANY people came forward and said abuse did happen. If this doesn’t prove anything to you for some reason, there are many other reasons of why your opinion is dog sh*t.
I agree. I was a kid when this trial occurred. It’s unbelievable that in the 90’s the media made a “joke” of these men. SNL “comedy skits” and tabloid coverage of them killing for money was so wrong. I don’t know how they were convicted of first degree murder. Everyone needs to be aware Erik and Lyle are in prison bc it’s a horrible injustice.

In the trial hald of the jury wanted them out of jail and the other half wanted them in jail but for 2nd degree murder. So it ended up a mis trial. The second trial was done without tv broadcast, because it was just after OJ Simpson walked out without punishment. The judge was the same as the first trial but only the youngest brother went on to testify, because the other one, the one testifying hete on the stand, couldn't because he couldn't handle it mentally. So the jury never heard him speak. They also weren't allowed to bring in the evidence of sexual abuse. So long story short: they got sentenced to life without parole. Wich I feel was wrong. They should have been out of jail by now. They were victims and there was enough evidence. If they were women they wouldn't be in jail right now. It was told to them that if they were battered women they could get out.
When Lyle tells Erik that he's sorry - the feedback and the trauma between these two, this is something you just cannot fake. It is absolutely horrible what happened to these two, I wish they could have found a better way out than to murder so that they could truly heal and live their lives.
@@sana_the_bookaholic I wouldn’t say that. Erik forgave his father for all the atrocities he committed against him, and Jose was an adult at the time. Why wouldn’t he forgive his 8 years old, traumatized older brother who literally did everything in his power to protect him from then on?

Presidential pardons generally do not apply to crimes of murder. But, there has to be some kind of process to get them out. My heart absolutely aches for them.
Ryan Murphy always skews stuff. There was hardly an exploration of sexual abuse of boys on that show and the complex issues it causes in kids as they grow up. Zero nuance by Murphy. All that that show did was sensationalize stuff that didn't even happen. Ryan didn't even have a note at the end of the show stating that other now grown up men accused Jose of sexual abuse. Terrible disappointment of a show.
Lyle was too afraid to ever stand up to his father except when it came to protecting Erik. What is wrong with the world that they are in prison right now?
I agree ..they didn't have any one that they could turn to especially living in beverly hills.. one of the worst places to be should anyone attempt to reach out for help.
They lied about their parents. They murdered them for their money and after murdering them so viciously went on a spending spree with their money. If they were being sexually abused, how come they never mentioned the abuse to anyone, not even the relative near to them. Fucking liars...they should have got the death penalty. They should not be released!!!

I think the breaking point for them was the fact that their father had no intention of letting Erik go, they were willing to move on and forget every single disgusting things done to them, they both said it they had no intention or desire on letting anybody knows because they were aware of the humiliation that comes with it. But when they found out, Erik found out that his father wasn't letting him stay in the dorms during college, that became the breaking point, they saw no ending on this madness, so decided to end it in the way they surely knew it would end, killing them.
Yeah they were prisoners in their home even as adults they were not allowed to leave? How long did he expect them to stay forever? This is pretty long. Lol sorry, it's just my thoughts.. My sister attempted to kill my mom when I was 7. Because my mom messed her up while she was painting her nails. My mother has one hand due to cerebral palsy and my sister beat her up, dragged her down the stairs (14 of them), knocked her out and then went and got a butcher knife. I was home with pink eye and I remember beating my sister in the head with the house phone and choking her to get her to stop trying to attack my mom. My mom got up and ran and left me in the house with her. She didn't attack me. We sat down on the couch like nothing happened until the cops came and tackled her, she was 15/16 at the time and got released from juvi at 18. A backstory to this is that my mother would beat us bloody for nothing. With a belt, brushes, shoes, spoons, rulers. I had to walk up and down the stairs, stand against the wall, do wall sits. All under the age of 7 along with knowing my multiplication and cursive writing before I was 5. Guess what my sister was released because she didn't go through with the murder. Ive heard the only reason these brothers were charged was because they were rich and "had it all" and so they just killed their parents to kill them. But what people have to understand, is when you're basically held captive in your own house what are you to do as a child, a teen --a kid barely tall enough to ride rollercoasters or have any money for their own place? I've must have ran away to a fire station lips and nose bleeding at least 3 times and each time they sent me back home, to her and by that time my sister was locked up, gone I had no one to defend me. I didn't attack my mom but I did start defending myself at 15. The last time she hit me I was 16. The system fails children all the time. It sucks and it shouldn't happen. Clearly you can see their story is real, the pain in their eyes and voice when they recount their past. Yes it was brutal and terrible what they did, but was it justified? In my opinion, Yes.

Lyle is reliving what he is saying. And has a sense of guilt because all he ever wanted was for his pearents to love him. He also has guilt and embarrassed for causing harm to his brother. The truth is that he did that to him because his dad did it to him so he thought that that was normal but it's not and I am glad that he confessed it so he can be free from that. Just by acknowledging it he has proved that he is more then his father ever was. A true man stands in his truth no matter how awful it is. A control freak predator as a father. An abuse enabler as a mother. Having children to live out your own failures at certain things is simply awful. These boys were tortured. It’s my understanding that the third jury didn’t get to hear the whole story! The first two jury’s were split in their decision. One jury member said that they were completely split by gender. It’s crazy that people thought they killed for the money when look at how happy Lyle is looking back on memories of thier weekends with the grandparents. Snobbish kids wouldn’t be fond of garage sales, squirrel watching and tv shows like the untouchables.
My heart goes out to these young men every time I watch bits of their trial. yes, it was wrong to murder their parents, no, it wasn't about the inheritance, the truth was, it was about stopping the sexual abuse, that had never been addressed. Their father committed it, their mother hushed it and the boys endured it. Our justice system doesn't address or take into consideration the mental torture that sexual abuse inflicts on victims, and in this case, it was inflicted on them BY the people who were supposed to love them the most, protect them...the most. Defend them...the most. Parental betrayal is the worst kind of betrayal. I hope when reviewing cases like this, our courts have the courage to consider compassion/justice in their rulings. Society failed the Menendez brothers. Yes, they should be imprisoned, but not for life. Their freedom was stolen in childhood. They've been PRISONERS their entire lives.
