Nice vid! I’m curious how well the stereo out would sound using Y cable. I like the idea of two sep cabs, but prolly would go mono into the FOH at church as stereo option is not really an option.
Thank you, my friend! That’s a great question. Honestly, I never ever use stereo but just wanted to show the capabilities. I think that point of stereo is more for width rather than tonal variation - especially for something like this where you only have different cabs (not amp + cab). A Fender-style preamp into a 2x12 and 2x10 summed to mono *probably* won’t give you the tonal variation you’re looking for. Sorry for the long response, I hope that helps.
Sounds great! It’s crazy how easy it is to get decent, and even great, sounds for recording nowadays. That seems super easy and intuitive, sounds good, and is $90??
Totally agree! I'm definitely not the biggest IR fan in the world and was initially skeptical about this unit. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get a good tone with the stock IRs. The clincher for somebody would be the ability to load their own IRs -- I didn't even get into that part of the pedal. For $90, I think you can't beat it.
Hello friend good, by chance, do you know if this pedal is to turn on automatically when you plug it in, if that is its natural process or is it harmful to the pedal, plug it in and unplug it since I do not see slot on or off.
@@JohnAnthonyPlaysMusic Thanks for the feedback, John! I appreciate it a lot!! So, could I use this pedal in addition to the Preamp pedal with a speaker Cab? I’m on a budget right now. What type of speakers would you recommend?
@@inrockwetrust940 My pleasure to help! The CAB is indeed designed to be used with Flamma’s Preamp pedal. That being said the Preamp pedal would also work great as an overdrive/distortion/toneshaper going into the Katana. A good affordable option would be a used Alto TS212, you can get these used for about $125-$150 and they’re fantastic. A Mackie Thump 12 could also be had in the same price point (though I prefer the Alto.) Whatever speaker you end up with, though, just make sure that it’s powered. An unpowered speaker will not pass audio without an additional power amp.
@@JohnAnthonyPlaysMusic Thanks again! This maybe a silly question. I’m actually starting to get into this simulation stuff. Do you think that I should get a mixer (Flamma)? I would like to use the Cab sim live. I guess I will need an external speaker beside the mixer right?
@@inrockwetrust940 that’s a great question. So, honestly, it depends. The Flamma mixer has a USB out so it works great pulling double duty as a recording interface at home - so if you don’t have an interface then I would certainly consider it. Most players that use units like this (or Helix/Kemper/Axe) don’t bother with a mixer and just plug straight into a PA speaker like the Alto. I, personally, wouldn’t recommend having your own 2-channel mixer for live use.
That's a fair question! I think it's just that **most** guitar players don't play in stereo but, in truth, it's hard to say. DSP chips were super expensive for a while and it seems as though prices are starting to come down a bit -- maybe that influenced Flamma to pursue a stereo option.
