This film is a cab ride on a class 60 from Madeley the jcn off the west coast main line south of Crewe to the loading stage at Silverdale coal mine.
In 1992 this was the last remnant Of the old North Staffordshire Rly Stoke on Trent to Market Drayton line. The line was eventually closed from the Stoke end and a new cord put in to join the Down slow line of the west coast main line. The line passed over the west coast line and the M6 motorway

Thank you for sharing the photos and videos of the North Staffordshire Railway. The Chief Engineer during its expansion in the late 1800s to early 1900s was my 2nd cousin 4x removed George James Crosbie Dawson. The North Staffordshire Railway Study Group published an article about him in their Journal #51 written by Mike Fell O.B.E. I was able to assist him with some notes from our family genealogy for the article. They have some nice photos to go with it for those interested in the history of the NSR.

I'm reasonably certain that the first part of this video is at Manor Rd bridge, Madeley. Then making its way along the Madeley Chord railway crossing the main line and M6 motorway. Later we see a little bit of the former Keele Station; right hand bend with platform on the right. Finally stopping at Silverdale Colliery. Magic video! Awesome.

Yes that's right it starts at Manor Road then goes to Silverdale. Years ago it it used to go to market drayton via pipe gate etc

I walked this line last week. The line is disconnected from the main line but the rails are there as far as the colliery end of the second tunnel. There's a lot of trees growing up now.
