Cab Ride on 80041 Somerset and Dorset Railway 

Back down to Radstock and then up to Evercreech, Pahaps one day, They will get there eventually, all things start small, and grow.

When i get spare time, which sadly not much of, I want to do a drone survey of as much track bed as possible from Evercreech onwards, towards Bath. Radstock still has in existence the impressive double bridge where 2 line crossed over each other. A wonderful feature that has survived!

I used to be a volunteer on the SVR and help look, after this locos sister 80079! With the help of a JCB The Northern portal of Chilcompton tunnel can be uncovered. Then just need to politely ask the shooting range thats occupied the other end of the tunnel to kindly hand back YOUR tunnel and P way can go through THEN theres miles of trackbed just waiting for rails! GO S&D! Sadly as can be seen on Google Earth, a few people have illegally extended their back gardens in Wells, under the ‘Adverse Possession’ rule which has now been outlawed! This has taken trackbed that probably still belongs to the S&D board! Hopefully these people will see reason and hand back the land otherwise it cuts off the line. During surveys I have carried out in past years on other trackbeds this is a common offence, of taking land purely because its not used :(((

God love them Ivatt Tanks, or "Jeeps" as we call them round my parts. Did you know that it was actually one of these yokes who ran the last, mainline steam service on the British isles in 1984? After a series of locomotive failures NI Railways had no available locomotive to work their ballast train, so they ended up having to lease No. 4 from the RPSI for a whole week!

80072? beautiful engine. hey, did you guys come across a difference in readings on the gauge glasses? when i had the chance to crew it that year, the right gauge glass was static at the top, and the left would operate as normal. has that been rectified?
