I work on the Railroad. If you are a media representative you can contact the Railroad directly and try that route

I'm surprised the conductor didn't step off his train and do a roll-by of the passing train.

Great video, nice catch. How fast do these locomotives go I mean top speed notch 8. They are going so slow, when can they start speeding up.

All about weight. Some loaded may not be able to exceed 40 depending on how much power is online.

Charles, the train isn't going as slow as it looks in some places. The speed indicator in some shots shows 40 mph, but it looks like 15 or 20 because the person shooting the video is zoomed in so much on the forward view. Zooming in like that compresses the image so much that it makes the movement seem much slower. Look at 21:00 thru 21:10 and you'll see what I'm talking about. Hope that helps.

To "make the train go faster" increase your RU-vid playback speed to 1.5. (Under settings.)

Someone back in the day wasn't thinking clearly when it came to installing the telephone poles on the side with the water. Awesome video.

Those aren't telephone poles.
@djscrizzle
@djscrizzle 19 дней назад
Those pole lines had a couple pair of wire for running the signaling system and power for float charging all the batteries. And a couple spare wires. The rest were usually left over from depreciated functions, but essentially abandoned in place. Before PTC, a pole line really only needed 6 wires to do its job correctly.

Cnw cab signals were omaha to chicago only. up cab signals were everywhere else. In the last 4 months, cab signals were eliminated with ptc.

I never seen a Union Pacific EMD SD70M with a Comfort Cab Design, Similar to the Canadian National SD75I's. Usually, I seen UP SD70M's with a Widecab Desktop Style Control stand.

I am very surprised by how quiet the train is. I would have thought it would be much louder than it is. Now I understand how they can sneak up on people. And this one was going slow!
@robloxian_jumpscare455

When its going fast you can hear the roaring sound so if you don't hear it, it will blow it's horn for you to get out of the way

@hawtchick69 Stopping is one of the most rewarding parts when done well. Smoothly stopping a train with all the slack stretched feels really nice in the seat.
@Throttlejockey94

@hawtchick69 far as I could tell without being there. He had the throttle open only grabbing a couple pounds at a time. Then very light fan of the IBV.

@hawtchick69 lol ya think? I mean maybe if you’re working a switcher and you’re dropping your foreman at a switch. But if you’re gonna be sitting for a while and have a big train, why not take your time and be comfortable?
@Throttlejockey94
@Throttlejockey94 2 года назад
@hawtchick69 I’m more worried about a run in and jack knife, or rolled rail. Or something else to take me out of service

That is due to the early technology of personal "camcorders." The cameras these days have improved exponentially in quality, and the media used to store the video for future viewing has vastly improved.

@@AbelG8781 This was filmed in 2007 so apparently it's still possible. But post-9/11 no doubt it is much harder to do. There are probably all kinds of hoops to jump through before they let you step foot in a yard.
