6 months and no new videos? Sure hope you didn't quit. You had the start of a really great channel. Thanks for the content!

Hey James, yeah sorry I been slacking. Got new footage but been busy, and some negative comments got me a bit de-motivated lately. Enjoy, and good luck!

Thanks for watching. Wish I had the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow every time. Metal detecting is a major exercise in patience and disappointment. Trying to run down proof of legendary treasures? Fugeddaboudit. But, the hiking and research are fun, and take me places I'd never go otherwise.

@AV Adams the history alone is fascinating! I hike vicariously through you! Looking forward to watching more!

@@kenbalser1330 Hey Ken, as much as I do take some risks, they are actually very calculated - I stick to activities where I'm quite skilled, like basic mountaineering and overland travel, but definitely not vert climbing or spelunking! I'm really a bit of a chicken. If you want to do some dirt diving up there, then I recommend you totally ignore any obvious openings and get back in the side canyons and find hard to reach entrances visible from only a narrow field of view. Good Luck!

Nice video and thanks for sharing. Had a question: How often do you run into rattlesnakes in that part of the country? Just something I've always been curious about. Thanks again.

Thanks for watching. Buzz worms are all over the place. Most are pretty docile, and usually try to get out of the way. Larger Westerns (the non-Mojave's with the zebra-stripe tail black rings bigger than white) can sometimes be aggressive jerks. I've had them come at me even when I was walking parallel to them, not even heading toward them. I try to avoid them all, of course. I kick rocks, stomp the ground, beat the bushes and so on to let them know I'm coming. They like the same temp range as humans. Cold? They will be in the sun. Hot? They will be in the shade. One thing I have noticed is that they do not seem to like being out in the wind (S. NM is very windy, often) so if it is 15-20+ wind, I feel much more confident in crashing through the brush without any extra care. Just one of the many things to watch out for, I guess. They love caves and mines, of course, and I have a few good stories there. Probably where the legend that they guard treasures comes from. Looking forward to your next vid.

I've watched all the videos now, love them. I'm from NM as well, I've seen NM treasure & recovery & Basinite and I found your channel right after. Any leads in the monzanos?
@lostadamsgold

Hi, yes the Manzanos has a number of stories of which I am aware. Many have to do with a lost mine, someone near the top of the range, the proceeds of which were supposedly collected by the folks running Grand Quivira or a particular landowner in the town of Manzano. Unfortunately, one of these comes by way of Jameson, who can't be trusted to be entirely reliable. Likely, he had a basis for the tale, but he "remixes" rather unabashedly to make his versions seem original. This is a very rugged range. I'd start with research on the geology of the mountains themselves, or folklore down around the village of Manzano itself. I there was something down by Quvira or at Quarai, etc., it is long gone and those are monuments or whatever now and off-limits for searching.

@@lostadamsgold Hey! Thanks for the response. That's awesome. Definitely make's sense with checking for the geology of the area. I've scoured Treasurenet/DesertUsa for years. I know there was some decent mineralization in the Coyote canyon kind of behind Kirkland AFB. There's one guy on Treasurenet named xFootless that showed me some amazing imagies of crosses on rocks and a small rock building that had collapsed. It looks like the areas you frequent are much more fruitful. It's amazing some of the things you find out there. Also, I've read alot of Gollums posts too, I remember in one of the videos you said he found a small cache around a large stone monument similar to the video. That blows me away haha, does he have a post about it by chance? if not no worries! Take care out there man, be safe. Thanks for the amazing videos.

@@HelloImNoob2323 Gollum has written a lot over the years, including on his old website. He may still go to the Lost Dutchman Rendezvous in the Fall at the base of the Superstitions. He sent me some stuff by email directly years back, and I forget what I can share. Glad you are out there stomping around.

Black helicopters show up when I’m hunting in las uvas mts. behind our place. Coincidence, I think not

The Uvas are VERY interesting. Several stories. One is of silver bars so long they could be held with arms dropped down and the bars to the face. Cottonwood. Friend helped identify the area and then the sneaky snakes went back and got it, More than that. Ancient country. Got some old signs that are now gone.

Get yer boots on and fire up the truck - its public land! The main gold placer is near the dam - the Shandon area - if you want to up your chances relative to chasing phantom bullion.

Hi Sierra. Awesome to see a lady on the hunt - seems like the main demographic for this topic is males over 50, LOL. Speaking of serious lady scholars, the Old Pueblo Archaeology Center has some great vids with regional history, including some ties back to the work of Eve Ball. I'm still stuck in the 9-5 so I only get out once in a while. This whole topic is so complicated, but I guess that my main advice might be to look where others have not, or look with a different eye than others have. Sometimes its nice to actually find things, so make sure and check in to the many rockhounding sites in the region - the Las Cruces or TorC clubs are great resources to start with, and many are also interested in history and legends, too. Good Luck!

Turns out, both Ibex and Bighorn remains are on the short list of things NM Department of Game and Fish will not let supposed citizen-owners of the land recover. I gave them the GPS so that the mice don't just eat the bones, and they say they will use them for public education, as this discovery is vastly superior to their existing demo skull.
