This is a 1959 Sanderson Cyclone 36 spudder drilling a well deeper in Columbiana County, Ohio. Filmed Sept 16th, 2009. I'm down approx. 140 feet in hard limey sandrock, running jars and a 5" chisel bit. The well is over 60 years old. It had a windmill over it originally, replaced with a rod and tubing pump, and later a submersible. I pulled out the 2 feet of remaining 5 1/2" steel casing and replaced it with 30' of 5" PVC. The well pit will be filled in. I started the morning at 132' and making less than 1/2 gallon per minute, and finished drilling ahead that evening at 188' making over 15 GPM. The rig is 40' high, mounted on an '81 Ford F-600, and is equipped with 3' hydraulic jacks. The power plant is a 4cyl. Continental Red Seal flat head.
