Grew up in 364 and went to Byrd. Our family was respected. God definitely placed a hedge of protection over us. Heard and saw alot of drama. School fights in the field between Byrd and Jenner school, snipers trying to kill police and rivals from the roof, gangs, drugs, poverty. Crazy times

@Laughatfirstsight Bro. I deeply respect your interview skills. I know I can count on you, for lack of a better phrase,a real ninja perspective. I was born in Atlanta as card carrying member of the NOI- Brother Leonard 2X- and raised in Philadelphia by a family with deep boxing roots. So I enjoy your channel immensely! I can 100% confirm what Nate is saying about Don King. He is a man's man and doesn't suffer fools lightly,but is generous to friends and strangers. Too often as a community we let our heroes get torn down by biased sources. Was boxing a clean business when the the Mob ran things? It's been full of scoundrels long before Tex Ricard. Definitely before our brother Don King! My father, who managed a few fighters including Leon Spinks, told me,"DK can get you the money. He can't help you keep it." You don't hear Holmes or Foreman crying about Don. Who did Tyson make more with, Shelley Finkel or DK? Who broke all of PT Barnums records for gates/paid attendance? Who put on the most epic fights of my lifetime- Rumble in the Jungle,Thrilla in Manila,Arguello vs Pryor, I could go on all day. Hell you can even throw in the Victory Tour! HBO used his habitual conjuring of superfluous hyperbole,that Nate talks about,as grounds for ruining his business model and in the long run theirs. Hey that might even make a great documentary!

I swear, if you go to downtown Chicago, you wouldn't think Chicago was like that. I was there back in April, and downtown Chicago is so clean and nice!!! And the women are thick and look good. But I noticed who was the majority in downtown too. Anytime I saw one of my own they were working or was about to get on a bus. I really liked Chicago!!! I want to see more of it. The radio stations were pumping more New York hip-hop than New York radio stations do these days. It reminded me of how Red Alert and Marley Marl use to get down on the radio in New York back in the day. But it was cold as shit out there in April!!!

See how far the mighty has fallen. See the debased level that our oppressors and our lack of humanity has placed the black man on the level of the beast. This is why history was and is so important. As Brother Malcolm (May the Divine Creator be pleased with him) stated, "History rewards all research". If you dont know where you come from how can you how far you can go. We had love in our community and we got through the hardships of life as a community. Now its basically every man for himself and nobody seems to give a damn. That is a lot of hate for oneself and others when you to the funeral home and knock over the coffin.

I remember the movie Heaven is a playground was filmed in the Greens. Dmx Camron Nore Nas cash money r kelly all used to come hang in the Greens. Just to name a few. The greens made you street savvy even if you didnt want to be in streets. I kinda miss it. Fun times and good learning n life experience. I remember when ballhead was filming that gangsta City Dvd and he let me check out some of the footage. I was also filming a chicago hip hop doucumentary and soaked up game from him on filming I see alot of his footage on gangland and remember like damn i remember when he showed me that in the building. So much talent came out the greens. My cuz Spank was CG crazy doe. I was so square and he would just school me and show me things. Wow so many memories.

This was a tremendous loss of potential revenue. If you have a family with kids it's not appropriate to pack lots of families with children into multistory apartment complexes. There's not enough room for kids and having places to play. However, they didn't have to tear the buildings down. Why didn't they convert the buildings into public housing for lower income elderly couples or single people in need of housing? That way the buildings could maintain a social service for the community. If you want housing projects for families have it with less population density.

Because of the drug problems in them buildings of how they were built was hard to catch ppl
@TonyqTNT
@TonyqTNT 5 лет назад
@@boxing4life410 That's what I'm saying you can't squish young people into that dense an environment without causing problems. But for elderly people or single people who just want to go to work, come home, watch a little TV and repeat there's nothing really wrong with the buildings.
@theboomboomroom7470
@theboomboomroom7470 5 лет назад
@@TonyqTNT have you ever been there? Most likely not! Because if have you would know that the buildings were beyond repair and needed to be torn down. The plan was supposed to be to build new low income homes but the residents of the old projects didnt get into those new units maybe 20 percent of the family's from tbe old buildings got into the new homes. The rest were placed around the whole city on section 8 and low income apartments. Same thing for every other housing project in the city causing an increase in gang violence due to new wars for new turf being carved out for the gangs then the nail in the coffin the loss of leadership and general organization and structure within the gangs creating the next generational wave of violence.
@TonyqTNT

@@theboomboomroom7470 I went to Chicago for vacation and my hotel was on State and Lake Street in the downtown area. I was never at the Cabrini Greens area as they were already torn down by then. I knew someone who lived in the Robert Taylor houses in Chicago while I was stationed in Germany. He moved to Orlando once he got out of the military. I don't know if there are any housing projects left in Chicago. I know there are still many housing projects in NYC. I didn't know the Chicago public housing buildings were in such a condition of disrepair. I would think the city would have wanted to maintain them. Anyway my main point was housing in general is a mess all over the United States. There's no starter places for young families to get things going. A lot of single people can't even afford to rent a room in some cities. Then there's lots of veterans and elderly people who are currently homeless or close to being homeless. I wasn't trying to initiate a beef. I was just trying to say the government needs to come up with some viable housing solutions because right now the new housing I see being constructed is specifically designed for the super wealthy.

Anthony Quintiliani You make a interesting debate bro. However I disagree. I’m 32, I’m from Brooklyn. I use to stay in Lafayette Gardens for a year. My aunt babysit me in there while my parents was at work. NYC is flooded with projects compared to Chicago. Both Metro Cities but Chicago could have fixed this man. Seriously. Lol. If the government created these houses, yet the same government gives billions of dollars to other things, they could of fixed it. Also creating jobs around there. Think about how many gang bangers are in the prison system there.
