It would be helpful if you showed the viewers which color your dipping into., instead of just saying the color. We mixed all these colors and it’s hard to keep up with them by just the name.I liked and subscribed. I like how you show how to mix different colors before you start painting.
15:08 "...so you're going to want some gel medium on there..." Can u please explain what the purpose of the gel medium is in this case? I'm used to applying medium as a varnish to a finished painting, but that's the limit to how I'm familiar w/ using it. Any tips or info are greatly appreciated!
The gel medium slows the drying process of the acrylics, and makes the paint slick so that you can smooth and blend with ease. Without it, the paint feels stiff and dries quickly.
@@TheArtChik can u tell me what all can be used as this medium? Other than liquitex gel medium! I know there are many options but don’t know their names. Is matte medium one ? Is flow aid? Is retarder?
+Melody Ross, thank you for watching. Actually, I teach just the opposite. When mixing and blending each color, rather than wiping off the paint on a cloth or paper towel each time, I swipe the leftover paint colors off my pallet knife onto the pallet and use it to mix the next color. Perhaps you misunderstood that process. My method actually prevents the wasting of paint. In an edited video, the viewer only gets a small glimpse of that process. Each project can take hours to complete. I find myself using all of my paint. In fact, I always have to mix more just so that I have enough. 😊👍🏼
My advice to you is to learn from this project, but only paint something similar to sell, instead of this exact painting. You want to sell your original work (your own vision/creation). It will help you gain more respect from the public (future buyers), if they know it’s your original concept. Enjoy! 💛
