@666overkill - is this ad about slavery or what? it's about a chocolate and saying you guys have the best cocoa..so stop crying over morality or ethics and enjoy this advertisement - it's really nice and funny and there is no racism involved!!!
I feel this ad reminds colonial,slavery culture, the white man decide price,quality. The formers who produce this coco should accept the white man decision. This ad looks very cruel and unethical. This ad expressing formers struggles,pain,helplessness rather than bournville chocolate promotions.
Just imagine a child watching this AD...They're taught equality...n that this was a part of HISTORY....There's nothing "PAST" about it...its very "PRESENT"!!!! GROW UP!!!
Patronising overtones and racism? Possible. What struck me as being very jarring in this ad was the contempt that comes through in the rejection of the 2nd bean - "he's nothing". It's the typically disgusting and sick large corporation portrayal of excellence.
I felt that the Bournville Ad, lacked the sensory appeal of premium dark chocolate. The crying bean element in the film, at best creates a snob value... not premiumness - unless the team equated "premium" with "snob". Additionally, the departure from humour from the previous ads really weakened the proposition "you have to earn it". Other than that a well made film, with clear association of "dark" but not necessarily "dark-premium".
That poor bean tho ouch just like life it self cruel it wanted to be a bournvile such a sad advert and a waste of bad beans sure they must deal with lots of them but leaving them out while the chosen just laugh at it

everything about this ad is wrong. it shows that one will be judged or rejected solely according to what one is by birth. one will be judged only by one standard, either you can do it or you cant... rest of your talent doesnt matter. one will be judged by someone who comes from outside the system. and if rejected for not fault of ones, he will be brushed away to die, a social reject. aweful simply aweful racist ad.
how is this racist? this ad is just saying that what we customers get buying bournville are made up of cocoa from Ghana..they just exaggerated by telling the best cocoa from Ghana, Big deal!!!They would obviously not afford to filter each and every cocoa practically ,,they just import it in tons..
This ad has such a negative impact on me that I have stopped buying Bournville. This ad is highly racist and of bad test. The disturbing cry of a bean (child) resonate in my ear whenever I see the Bournville logo. It could be a good case-study for advertising professionals.
