I mean, the entire 90s was furry bait, as far as cartoons go. Hell, the 2006 remake of Biker Mice from Mars was literally "Furries stop Donald Trump from destroying the world". :I
Anthropomorphic characters have existed for a long time. Like ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia to give reference for how long they've existed in civilization.
This character needs a comeback in the future. Sure she returned to advertising briefly a few years ago (On posters and magazines) but it sure would be nice to see newer commercial featuring her again.
I'm so glad I came here because of NC. Have y'all noticed that bee was collecting honey, and is a worker? Therefore, it was a female bee. Folks, that was a gay bee. Or should I say, les-bee-an?
I can verify that, though for some reason the chocolate is named Carmello in the USA, us Americans were clearly missing out when those commercials first aired.
Cadbury is beyond perfection when it comes to chocolate. Puts all that American chocolate to shame. Good old British Milk Chocolate is so much smoother and sweeter.
She's voiced by Miriam Margolyes btw: PROFESSOR SPROUT FROM HARRY POTTER IS THE CADBURY CARAMEL BUNNY! I swear since yesterday, I'm still picking the bloody shards of my mind from that info!
miriam margolyes is a legend and one of the funniest most genuine people ever, could not believe it when i found it was her who did the voice over for these 😳😄
What's great about these commercials is the fact that the candy isn't a solution or a reward. Caramel uses it as an example. When someone seems a bit too high-strung she tells them to relax, and uses the smooth soft Cadbury Candy as an example. They try the snack and discover what she means, before relaxing.
I’ve only just discovered, from her autobiography, that this is Miriam Margolyes. I’m listening to the audiobook and she does the voice! She was also the voice on the Manikin Cigar ads and dubbed The Water Margin and Monkey into English.
Gotta love Miriam. She’s an absolute legend. Yet, in the nicest possible way, this is the second most unlikely ad voiceover after Gil Scott-Heron being the “you know when you’ve been Tangoed” guy. 😊
These are cool! I wish we had Cadbury commercials like this in the US. Over here, they play the same 20+ year old commercial every Easter where different animals wear rabbit ears and audition to be the Cadbury bunny.
My god, just look at that animation quality from the early commercials. If they brought her back today, she would probably be (unfortunately) CGI or some crappy ToonBoom render.
Cadbury really had their mascot game on lock, they were great, whether it was a cute little bunny who liked to cluck, or a cute little bunny that liked _to..._ ... *_HAPPY SNOWMAN!_*
@@papayer In my defense, it's certainly the outward image that the 'furry' community displays. I mean, hell, if I made an image search with just the word 'furry' typed in, it'll most certainly show many images that are "not safe for work". Even the images that are not explicitly graphic are still sexualized, like a drawing of a dog with a swimmer's build and flirty expression; there's a ton of titillating artwork like that.
Can’t believe this is Miriam margolyes. She’s so versatile a voice actress! For such a vulgar woman she’s certainly very skilled and knowledgeable in her craft. Her autobiography was eye opening.
If you thought Lola from Space Jam made you feel weird things you shouldn't have, clearly you haven't met the Caramel Cadbury Bunny. It would be funny if they did a collaboration. Two female bunnies with sexy, attractive voices advertising something is an odd commercial I'd like to see someone actually pull off.
I wonder who came up with the whole seductive rabbit shtick. I'm thinking it started with the voice and the rabbit was to make it kid-friendly as well.
