Like Nibbles vs Tom, from Tom & Jerry! It is a major achievement for smaller, shorter fencer to be able to surpass his arm length and reach him for a hit, without getting hit. He seems to get his opponent's weapon out of the way pretty well, when he goes for attack. Not sure why Lowe doesn't counterattacked every time Robinson lunge for a foot hit. Also missed most of his flesches, where he could easily score hits. Very interesting to watch this kind of match. Little dude has plenty of confidence in what he's doing against taller fencer.

I love that magical moment towards the end of a bout when people who only counterattack realize that they need to do something else😂. Sora did awesome.

I’m not sure how old Robinsson is but he has solid footwork! Hope he keeps at it!

and good pointwork too... i expected to see the bigger kid wipe the floor with the little guy... but it seems the little kid was the more experienced of the two and the big kid allowed the little guy to run the game....

Lowe doesn’t make use of the length of his arm+blade properly and stays too high on his feet. Probably had only been fencing for a short while. He also goes along with the game of Robinson instead of playing his own... And he ended up getting it, briefly.
@def1ghi
@def1ghi Год назад
yeah there's a point where I think Lowe has figured out to anticipate the flêche and keep his arm extended while retreating but then he give that up.
@samthestoryman3757

People saying the taller kid didn’t use his reach are underestimating Sora That kid has incredible footwork and defence and attacking such a small target is a huge risk and if he is given a lead your in trouble I’ve never seen an eleven year old fence this good and in a few years look out Australia Mens
@WhompersMcWhompel
@WhompersMcWhompel Год назад
I can see what you mean but I think it's also true that Justin didn't really try to consider using his reach, even though Sora had very good foundations in his footwork and defence, I think Justin could've at least tried to use his reach since most of his attempts weren't landing anyways. Who knows? It might've given him an extra point or two.
@samthestoryman3757
@samthestoryman3757 Год назад
@@WhompersMcWhompelyeah that is right, there are things he could've done with his reach to help and I don't know if these two fence regularly or not because that can change a lot of factors too. I just know as an adult and going over from my country and having to fence someone so small and fast was quite a shock. Like a normal adult you just have so much target, arms twice to three times the size, torso much larger, everything but on someone so small there is very little room for error.

Don't get me wrong but while Sora is incredible, the reach is a massive advantage. I'm rubbish at fencing (like bottom 8 at an AFC) and when I fenced Sora in training back then I could still beat him or break even pretty consistently by sheer height and force (and it being training and him trying different things made it easier). That being said he's apparently improved massively in the last year, so may not be the same story now.

The little bloke bullied his much taller opponent. That would be a devastating outcome for the older boy. I wonder if he has learnt that if you run away you will be hit. I didn't see a single parry from him in the entire bout.
@rjevskyfencing777
@rjevskyfencing777 Год назад
Running away is fine if you use it right. I manage to get my opponents 90% of the time when I retreat, and they start chasing me. Lowe never used his retreat for counters at all. Also he never properly used his arm length against shorter foe during attacks, which is dominant advantage. The fact how little Robinson manage to cover such a distance in a short time, break through Lowe's defense, and reach his target area - is pretty impressive.

Hello, I am a sports tree TV operator. We plan to include fencing videos in the future. So, I was interested in the video you uploaded. I have a question about the scoring machine. How did you connect the score at the bottom of the video with the actual score machine? Did you put it in separately for video editing?
@stabbytech
@stabbytech Год назад
Hey, So I actually made the app myself. It's basically a bluetooth dongle connected to the serial port on the back of the scoring machine that sends to a bluetooth dongle in the computer. Then my app takes that data and turns it into an overlay I put into obs while recording the video. I think there are some apps that allow for post video score but mine has to work live connected to the box.

Called - playing on patience of each other. During serious tournaments and closer to the final DEs - fencers are more prone to do that, because each one is careful. Personally I can't stand that, and try to pry my opponent into action. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

sigh.. totally understandable saying that .. they both did nothing for the first minute playing the non combativity rule for epee... silly rule made because a person at the top mis used the rules so they brought this in to try to force all epeeists to fence (which they did before... ) and now people use that rule to end the bout sooner (or try to ..) and it makes it more boring as they do nothing til the last few minutes of the bout when things go frantic... i am just old school fencing and this kind of rule and how people use it really annoys the hell out of me....

@@albertbresca8904 @Albert Bresca I'm not talking about that. Guy on the left is just a joke to me as a fencer, not because I'm better at fencing on epee or something like that, but because he's two times taller and probably two times stronger, but still manages to lose somehow. He doesn't know how to and when to extend his arm, which would already win this for him, because he has huuuge advantage in reach. He doesn't know how to prepare his attack, he's slow and can't react to Sora's attacks. He loses points because of the same situation and can't change his tactics. I can't even call this a bout. This can't be cadets final. Justin, if you're reading this: wtf? Losing to this little fella is nonsense.

as a foil fencer, I don't see what is so fun for epee. Y'all are so buff but move so slowly and don't attack, I understand that is just how epee is but I just don't understand.
@rjevskyfencing777
@rjevskyfencing777 Год назад
errr, in epee you can go as fast as you want or as slow as you want. Since the simpler rules, double score and full body target area - there is far greater chance of getting hit if you make bad move. These folks here were testing patience of each other.
