roller rockers = less friction - less heat = in valves springs = big deal for up grade really top idea - nice big v8 fat cubic inches = good for any car !
One of the worst engines to build. I was the cadillac guy for 25 years. They are very expensive to build. You need to replace just about everything in them to make them any good.
Your dreaming with a bunch of money and some choice parts like a set of cromemoly con rods and forged Pistons have the crank off set ground and use a big Chevy journal and bearing with a 7.100 con rod length a roller cam from Howard's roller rockers from speed master main studs from ARP Ford cleavland stainless big valves there the same length as Cadillacs just have the heads Done to except them no seats nessasary the cadi had 10% nickel in the 472 ,500 blocks n heads in 68to71 there the strongest stock block big block ever made and port the heads you can run a big block Ford intake with a little work or the Edelbrock performer big Chevy headers work with a little work 500 HP with work but you won't see more if you don't do as I sigjest I've built many bb cadis you need to order custom je Pistons for the combo do your home work the 7.100 rod is a trick piece that makes a better running motor speed master has them for 200 or so I have good luck with there new stuff edelbrocks top man took over speed master the company had to make good parts or go tits up so they are making good stuff now I've built a few 514 big mopars and I made 850 HP with one carb but I ran the speed master aluminum heads cnc ported 12 to one comp with Indy intake and a 4500 1600 cfm TMP dominator IN A DRAG BOATS
WOW, great video. I need a neighbor like you! I've had 14 Cadillacs. 3 of em were the huge 1969 and 1970 472s and one was a 73 Eldorado 500. Your sentiments regarding Communist PRC are similar to mine.
If I were to build a 472 Cadillac big block, I would build it for torque and to help it get good fuel mileage. Considering what they came with stock for the torque rating, I would want at least 100 to 150 ft-lb more for low to mid-range torque output.
Did you swap the pan out? That looks to be an Eldorado pan not a Calais pan. Dealt with a few of these torque monsters in my day. I have one in a 78 Chevrolet pickup used for a tow pickup.....bone stock 76 Eldo 500 with 3.07 diff pulling 12k lbs.....works a bit at full load but 70mph at 2500rpm.
