You need a catch can to keep that oil out of the intake etc. I have zzp catch can, CAI, throttle body, down pipe and PTP turbo blanket, zzp high performance coils and ngk laser iridium plugs.
The hose clamp is a 7 mm hex. Be careful not to over torque the 10mm throttle body bolts. They thread into brass inserts in the plastic intake manifold.
I’m the process of looking into this setup as well. Question, do you know if the car will throw any check engine codes or is it ok to run with stock tune ?
ZZP claims a potential CEL for the intake as you're increasing the overall volume of air being drawn in. BUT in my experience I ran this setup (Intake + Larger Throttle Body & Charge Pipe) for a week with NO CEL and I take my car to redline often. Once I installed my ZZP catless downpipe (potential video coming) that's when I did get a CEL but in all honesty I'm not TOO worried. My 2 codes are related to my cat not being there. So my car is running rich at the moment but I still drive it no problem. Rather run rich than lean! But I intend to get ZZP's PCM tune once I have the money for it as well as a few other little goodies that I want to do before the tune! The tune will give you extra power as well as eliminate the CEL! So it's a win win (:
You shouldn't feel any noticeable power lost unless you possibly created a boost leak upon installation.. But you only did the throttle body and Intake? Without actually tuning the PCM, you're only going to get mainly increased audio from the turbo because the stock computer (tune) will only compensate so much (basically nothing). If you're after power, do a PCM tune (zzp or trifecta or any other if you know of any). If you want to make real power though, I suggest investing in a real dyno tune with a reputable tuner.
PREVA1L MOTORSPORTS I agree, I just got a tune and it’s so much fun without any bolt ons, but I’m afraid the cold air intake won’t actually make power but decrease it I’ll find out I guess
I bought a 2016 cts 4 , 2.0t 90k mi...its all box stock so what wud u suggest for just a little bit of an upgrade to mabey push it up to 300hp but still be able to be a nice little grocery getter.. Thanx.
Nice man, how do you like it?! I LOVE my 2.0T, once you begin to mod it you'll see the BIG difference the mods do! There's a few videos we've done on the ATS already a couple videos back if you want to see what mods are coming up!👍
Honestly I'm not sure, I never got a lean code. But I also didn't have the throttle body and intake on for very long before doing the downpipe. I was running rich for a bit after that but I didn't mind that because better to run rich than lean. If you're going to tune it and still have warranty, highly suggest getting a new tuned pcm if you care about your warranty...
I had the same code on my gen 6 after I did the zzp intake and I found by rotating the tube and changing the angle of the mag I was able to make it go away, it's been gone for over 2000 miles.
I just installed mine on a 2014 ats 2.0 I got a check engine light and a decrease in power the turbo sounds way louder than it should IMO I’m sure something’s just wrong with my car
Without a tune you'll get a code for the increased airflow aka running lean. The cold start would be loud but would quiet down significantly after the cold start was over. You might have a leak if it's consistently loud
It sounds like your lifters are knocking the top of the head but I could be wrong, I diagnosed that from the video sound. I had a used miata and the first thing I had to do was my lifters. I had to have them adjusted so it wouldn't ruin the engine any further. The caddy is great otherwise.
Honestly all the 2.0T's I've heard have all sounded similarly in sound. I was a little paranoid at first too, but with the car only having 16k miles I'm not all too worried. Worst case scenario gives me a reason to build the head! But thanks for the advice 👍
PREVA1L MOTORSPORTS + what code do you have? Our car is finally finished (= ... We are making the right catch can for these 2.0 LTG engines. Maybe we can send you one if you would make a video for us? .... We have a few new parts coming out for the 2.0l turbo as well. .. ... You can always hit me up via StrictlyLTG.com (any of our social media links will work) with any issues with your engine. Let me know the CEL code and I will let you know what to do (= ..... Thanks for your response!
Haven't really driven the car much in the past couple weeks. I ran into an issue with the front goodridge brake lines so the car has been parked since I haven't had the time to take a look at the issue/correct it. But besides that I've since bought a tune for the car so it'll be stage 1 in the near future once I can drive it again. Will be making a video showing how to install/swap the PCM and basically show if it's worth it or not. Will be running Gus' new car before and after to show the difference.
PREVA1L MOTORSPORTS + we have a new Heat Shield + Turbo Blanket available for the 2.0 ATS... There is a video at the top of my website with the temp changes.. StrictlyLTG.com .... Way faster spool times, downpipe wrap coming soon.. so far we have dropped compressor housing temps from 450° to 200° F. Compressed air leaving the compressor is down to 120° into the intercooler and 73° out.. let me know what y'all think... Our product is made with the most insane high temp materials on earth
I'm sure if we would have done before and after dyno runs there would have been a slight increase to horsepower but to truly take advantage of the mods I would have to get the car tuned
Thank you! It's kind of hard to really distinguish since I did the CAI at the same time then shortly after went catless DP. But I'm pretty sure it made a difference since the air flow has less restrictions now
PREVA1L MOTORSPORTS im planning on getting the large throttle body for my 6 gen from ZZPERFORMANCE. I got everything else but this and tune. But overall do you notice difference from stock besides the loudness of the catless downpipe?
You won't regret it! But what I felt when I switched over to my cat less downpipe was whenever I was fully WOT stock the car felt like it was bottlenecked. After switching over it made the car feels easier to rev out. Without a tune I'm sure it's barely helping but once I go tuned the car is going to come alive
The ZZP shield encloses the filter so technically it only really breathes cold air. Basically the same shiiit as stock to be honest but you get "pssssshhhhhh" noises lol
