Hey Caedrel, I don't know if you read this or just your editor, but you shouldn't be so hard on yourself about these interviews. I saw it on Yamatos Stream, and his first thought was "wow, caedrel is a really good interviewer". You have a lot of empathy and that is why you feel for caps and aren't sure how to act, but it is exactly that what makes it good instead of just asking questions off of a script w/o feeling the others emotion. You really handled it very well and showed caps that we all support him. Good job, and I hope you get to read this.
Caedrel thinks he's awkward in these situations, I think he's doing the best job anybody could do. He's being sincere, he's being chill and supportive, while also asking the questions we would like to ask ourselves. This interview was perfect.
Props to Caps. Must be hard to do the interview just off a loss. Caps' dedication to improving is commendable. It isn't easy to stay motivated after consecutive losses, and in a region where most teams aren't putting in the same kind of effort to get better.
massive respect for caps giving an interview even after the series they put up a good fight all tournament especially against hle and this series with blg was really close and was hype all the way through i feel bad for the g2 boys they played there hearts out. i love G2
Viewers love to do this but they don't understand that they are sitting comfortably in their chairs with no pressure, while pros are playing at the highest level, against the best teams with high stakes. Hindsight really is a cruel judge.
man... it's so sad, I mean if we want to reach the top we must be ready to fight everyone, but watching NA get through by beating Vietnam, Brazil and themselves while we had to struggle is just sad
@@AtlasGcx I mean the top 8 at worlds doesn't have the top 8 teams in the world because this format is funky as always last year we got the 2 best teams fighting at semis and the finals was T1 wiping the floor with WBG this year an American team got to quarters and will be coughed at by some teams like GenG or HLE or TES or even LNG
@@doomkingraye7692the only reason this format is shit is bc FLY is seed one. How is FLY ranked above seed 2,3, and 4 of LCK and LPL? If we want to make it fair, LCK LPL 1 and 2 are seed 1, LCK LPL 3 and 4 are seed 2. LEC LCS 1 and 2 are seed 3. Seed 4 are from play in
Like fr who cares if G2 gets into top 8, they'll just get curb stomp by the next LCK LPL team. This G2 roster and LEC as a whole was just nowhere near 2019 performance. FLY is already on the platter for a 3 0 for GENG
if you want to reach the top you have to have a team that has the top 2 players of europe in every role and thats just not the case most of the time in g2s case they definitly need to go all in to bring inspired back to europe(since bringing razord should probably be inposible)also in my opinion carzy and upset are much better than hans miky was also awful for like 70-80 % of the year but he is probably still a top 2 support in the leauge
like he said, one bad information really hurt them, they thought rumble doesn't have tp. Its greedy trying to capitalize a small window for a quick end instead of playing it slow and end it later.
the fact that they are competitive with a jungler like yike is amazing to be honest... its like carrying extra weights when walking when others are freely running
@@user-ux3jp9oo7r you Smoking crack? 😂 Yike (especially on carry junglers) is nuts. Bro Smite stealed perfectly against HLE and Pops Off more often than not. Rather Talk about Micky who, sadly, lost his Touch. He used to be coinflippy Like Hyli but now the coinflip is bad for us most of the time
came close with HLE and now with BLG. Caps is one of the only players that REALLY deserves to win, I hope he doesn’t hurt too much over this. edit: ya’ll take everything so seriously and negatively it’s criminal. did caps have a bad tourney? 100%. Did G2 as a whole deserve to win? not at all. Caps has been a head down GRINDER since he entered with Fnatic and has been at the top of his game for years. I just feel bad for him rn because there’s A LOT of factors that go into playing. genuinely just trying to wish a dude well and some of yall rather be negative 24/7. go outside
They desperately need a better competition in LEC. in 2018/19/20 both Fnatic and G2 were pushing each other to the peak level and they were competitive on the highest level, nowadays you can give fnatic a 10k lead and still beat them in finals. Not blaming any player, but the level of play in Europe has fallen drastically due to absolute shitty management in teams.
You can't have competition in LEC when FNC considers traszork a good jungler. As long as such players are so overrated, G2 will always play alone. Im a fnc fan but it's just cringe how low the level is right now. The format doesn't help either but the lack of competitiveness is the nain problem
You will forever be the western GOAT caps. Class act to give this interview after this crushing defeat. The only western player who can challenge the best. It must be so shit to come so close all the time. Thanks caedrel for the interview!
The negativity is insane. I ain’t American nor am I European and I want the western teams to win. They haven’t been even close to their LPL and LCK competition for the past few years and when G2 actually makes it hard for eastern teams and make it a run for their buck people act like they haven’t improved a bit. As someone who is T1 fan I genuinely want G2 and other western teams to make it. They have such interesting drafts and different from how flowcharted LCK and LPL teams are with their drafts western teams always find weird picks and weird comps and that just makes the tournament so much more interesting to watch. FLY with their Nunu. BB on Yasuo top. G2 literally fought against arguably the 2 of the 3 favorites to win the game and the reigning champions. And as a team they put on a god damn spectacle. It’s sad that G2 is out but I do wish and I do anticipate their next appearance in Worlds next year.
Caedrels interview is really good and unique in both the quality of questions and his ability to empathize with pro players because he was a pro himself. I feel like that was more of a real conversation between people who know the game and the job rather than an interview. Keep up the good work!
It takes so much heart to do something like this right after something so soul crushing. Caedrel I really appreciate you doing this interview right after getting that haircut.
Caps, the more you grind and the harder you try to reach for that heavy crown... the BETTER it will be when you and the guys at G2 WILL get it! It will happen. You came close once, the next time you'll be able to make that final step.
Exactly my thoughts. They day Caps lifts the worlds trophy the whole of Europe will remember how hard the journey has been, and we will all cry with him.
@@gonzip it will be better for him to retire instead. You can cry with him then thinking about his failures. His legacy is a legacy of shame, defeat and grey screens
keep coping brother. EU never winning worlds. These g2 teams over the past few years has the best team EU has ever produced, and they still arent even close to winning. they would be like the 5-8th seed in LPL or LCK. just never gonna happen.
love you caps, all the way from Denmark. And love you G2. You have been a massive inspiration and i'm so sad to see you guys leave this early on... I'm already looking forward to see you guys next year, hopefully with a better draw. Great questions and nice showing of sympathy from Caedrel
It sucks that we don't get out of Swiss this year, but we made them fight for it. Other years it seems like it was a game of We Came, We Saw, We Got Clean Swept. Not this time. This time we gave them a bloody nose. We had the puncher's chance, we'll get em next time
Flakked and Targamad got 1 year before being dropped. Yike has been shit for 3 and somehow is still there. He definitely needs fo go and hans sama is horrendously over rated and should probably get dropped as well.
@@sev1803 Yike did not throw game 1 or 3, he played fine in worlds so far honestly, he hasn't done amazing sure but he has don't aweful. Hans on the other hands does need to go and I would argue someone needs to tell Mickey "If you do what you did against t1 and BLG again, getting caught out in ways you should't be, you are out" Micky pretty much walked into t1 and BLG multiple times when there was no help or he shouldn't have been doing it
@@zachdillenger5468 Yike is still a relatively new player in the lec. G2 should give him another year to develop, and see where he stands. I don't see any other adc in EU that would do better than hans. Upset is kinda washed and has mentality issues, Supa is super inconsistent and the others are just mediocre. To be fair EU adc talent is so bad nowadays. Miky is by far the best support in EU, yes he has those int games, but nobody comes close to him.
@@tamasmarton1792 The thing with Micky is yeah he is good but he never learns. He might be able to get away with that int stuff vs the bad teams in LEC but as you saw t1 and BLG just took advantage of it and unlike the lec teams these teams will not let those mistakes go. He should have learned by now I can agree the ADC pool in Europe is bad, honestly it really is, To me better to grab a promising new star, cause han's just ain't it, he's fine if you only want to win domestically sure but international no
The draw for sure wasn´t G2 favored, but at as a pro at pro play level, that can’t be used as an excuse. While for us fans it might be unlucky to not cheer for longer and to say the draft or draw didn’t favor their team, top players don’t lean on luck. If you're one of the best at what you do, you never accept luck as a reason - you aim to dominate no matter the opponent. Making it out of the group stages due to a favorable draw, only to lose to one of the top regions, is still a disappointment for them. To be the best, you have to beat the best and prove your ability. I think that's what really affected Caps - after all his hard work and dedication, he still didn’t manage to make it. When you give your all and still fall short, it takes immense emotional resilience to stay focused and motivated. Otherwise, the next stage can feel like despair and giving up, as you start to think maybe you're just not good enough. It’s hard not to feel sad about it.
Nah this format fucking sucks, it's because it pro play luck shouldn't be a factor to begin with. I mean weibo made it to the finals last year because they got the easiest draw at every stage of the tournament and we ended up with the worst finals in worlds history. It's objectively a bad tournament format. Msi is the tournament to win right now in terms of determining what's the best team.
@@marksern I don't know what you mean, draw luck is a part of every sport and every esport. Last year was also an anomaly, nobody expected both GenG and BLG to mentally fall apart in playoffs, and both of them shouldve easily sweeped Wbg then put up a good fight vs T1.
i dont think any of the players use the draw as an excuse, its mostly the fans who pity g2 because of the unlucky draws, and rightfully so. all the players can do is to push forward but im sure they were confident in their own abilities
@@marksern Well when you think about it, G2 could be in the same group with T1 and TES, which will still not be favored. We could only minimize the role luck plays in this, never possible to eliminate it. Who would expect BLG to lose two games? Things like these happens and it sucks, but oh well it’s the nature of the game
@@lamawlamaw idk if i can say G2 should go over FLY in top 8 and I can't say fly should go over G2 in top 8 either. I can definitely say Weibo should go over fly and g2 though.
The only problem for G2 is that realistically they are at least a top 8 team ,but the question is how can they even improve this roster outside of straight up changing people ,cuz outside of maybe Hans which could be swapped for other adc's ,the others i think are just plain the best in EU ,even with all his ints Miky is still the most clutch support when it comes to international play so i have no clue how this team can get better without signing asians .
I think they should keep the roster. when theyre at their peak, these 5 players can challenge anyone. The problem is that they have a tendency to be inconsistent, so its difficult to get all of them at peak performance at the same time. Theres usually always 1 or 2 of them not doing great in any given game.
Don't change the roster. We have seen them all at their peak and we know they can contend. So instead of changing things up and resetting back to zero, just focus on improving especially in macro and mid to late game decisions because that is what I believe where they fumbled the most.
@@lamawlamaw No hans needs to be changed, once in a blue moon the guy will step up but thats once in a blue moon if you want to win worlds you need an ADC who steps up a lot, sorry but Han's isn't it
I feel like they played as well as they could, sometimes just too eager to panicked. I feel like also game 1 drafts against both T1 and BLG could have been better, I would love to have seen some ivern, maokai, brand, tristana something like that. It definitely feels like that G2 is on par with the best eastern teams, just missing the clutch factor. Its so sad we dont get to see them in a BO5 because I believe they would not just get 3:0 like the western teams in the last 3 years.
@@fistofram5526 you cant put an entire series loss on just 1 bad TP lol. G2 had plenty of good and bad plays before that BB TP and if the were just a little bit better would have made Top8
@@KungFuKeni I think you don't understand English. One bad tp doesn't mean they'd win, but they had all 5 members and had lost 1 fight prior. BB literally teleported there and was literally blown up; G2 had the damage. G2 was going toe to toe with LCK #1 and LPL #1; one fight can decide a lot. It's equally as arrogant to consider they'd just lose regardless..
@@fistofram5526 Your basically just blaming BB for the game 3 loss when in fact there were multiple bad calls before that TP which ultimately contributed to the loss. At the point of BBs TP, the game already looked quite doomed as ELK was unkillable and we had no way to stop the siege. The TP was still bad and lost us the game deciding teamfight, but the game wouldnt have been in that position had G2 not made some other just as bad calls, like Ryze ulting into a rumble ult near bot Tier 1 or deciding to rush nash at 25mins when G2 were scaling well.
You cannot say they are on par with those teams when they can't even make it out of groups 4 years in a row. They are top of the class in EU, but clearly it's different outside of that
I just hope they stay together for 2025... it's heartbreaking how many times their opponents survived with just 1 hp (not only during this series). So many close moments during all of Swiss stage.
It was a show-hand for Elk there, if he didn’t survive on that Ezreal (and he almost didn’t), G2 would win and go to quarter-final. Both team have showcased their excellent skill sets and professionalism.🎉
I doubt even with ezreal dead they would be able to end the game immediately. But it definitely gave them more chance to win the game as compared to what happened after the pause.
@@Ecaeaezreal escaped like 3 or 4 times in different fights while still dealing damage, tbh that had more impact to the win than some of the hard engagements they still managed to do
G2 has europes support fs but also a ton of NA fans. They are always so unique in their approach to the game and their innovation over the years alongside incredible mechanics has won the hearts of many around the world. Truly a pleasure to watch their international games, it’s always so hard fought and humble. As always will be looking forward to next year
Awesome interview, mad respect for Caps taking the interview after such a painful loss. G2 Should hire Reckless as a Teammember/Coach or w.e, i'm sure he can help the team with training/mindset stuff... Since he lives and breaths the Korean way of Pro gaming atm. I hope G2 as a whole... stays together, and go even harder next time. mad respect !!!
i love G2 journey in Worlds24. they are maybe not a killing machine like GenG. but their journey always makes me believe that they can do it. and the fact that they were able to fought against top teams back to back like that was so amazing to me. keep on fighting G2!
SKT will never be the same again after these worlds, G2 will never be the same again after these worlds too. It is the end of an era of hope, the end of a legend. I was really proud of this team despite disappointing results. League of Legends requires too much times, it's time to cheer T1 until the end, then retire. GG Caps, gg G2 and see you soon!
this series was neck and neck safe for game 1, it genuinely could have gone both ways, don't give up caps. we believe, you can do it. p.s. i feel like we got griefed in every draw, like we faced all the best teams just to make it out. we will get there.
I really do believe that if G2 had better competition to compete with domestically, they would be much better than they were now. Even when G2 were way behind in games that were unwinnable, they still somehow won during spring and summer. Like Fnatic being the second best team in EU is crazy with how bad they were performing. The gap between G2 and the rest of europe was insane. They need teams domestically to push them the same way eastern teams do.
Ey Caps keep going, you're doing great. Unlucky and so close this year. BB looked insane on carry toplaners, let's hope the meta will allow this more in the future
Honestly it’s hard to say what G2 could do better to prepare for Worlds, it already feels like they really put their heart out into every single small thing they can do to improve, so to see them fail year after year is so heartbreaking. Much love for G2. Now that has been said, G2 cannot really do more on their own but other teams need to push them to get better, and these past years it has been a complete failure and have to be criticized. Outside of BDS where it felt like mid level players progressed to the point where they could contest for the top 3, every LEC project this year has been immensely disappointing. Especially Fnatic where it feels like the team almost hasn’t progressed at all and still lacks some fundamentals. This year scares me a lot as an LEC fan. I know some people are still passionate and work well in this league, now it’s time to build good projects around them to at least give G2 some challenge regionally, otherwise LEC is just doomed. And I know it’s still the same conclusion but this year has been way worse than ever before and a lot of things are moving this offseason, so I really hope with all my heart the couple people that still care about this region can actually work efficiently to build good projects this time.
The most likeable and loved team is G2. Caps shouldn’t retire. I can’t even imagine how heartbroken Brokenblade must feel. Congratulations and thank you to all of you, G2. Next time!
I won’t mince words. G2 showed they were capable of winning worlds. Even the 2-0 t1 scraped. G2 needed this last lump to grow. Take the hurt and pain into next season especially international. We all saw the gameplay. Amazing stuff.

Caps is the reason I started watching LEC, say what you want but this man is the most humble players out there, I’m really sad for him. Pls please make my dream of G2 carrzy happen 😂
It was an amazing series. Honestly, I always love watching BLG vs G2 match-up, round 3 was straight high-level LEC vs LPL fiesta among all of this boring slow macro swap lane meta.
Really proud yeah, G2 was so unlucky. During the swiss stage they had LPL #1, current world champions T1, and LCK #2 lol. This is insanely unlucky and last year was kinda similar too. I believed until the end and it was entertaining so definitely GG
I appreciate Caps' attitude about the draw, because when you look at a team like GenG they really destroy that perception of draw luck. They had a terrible draw and made it look easy. They really are an icon of fear at this tournament. So who cares if you made it deep if you lost anyways? Your draw doesn't matter if you're the best.
Definitely the strongest Western Team at worlds. Really sad it ended the way it did but proud of G2 nevertheless! I really hope they don't make any roster changes, this team is so strong together and I hope they keep going together.
ye fr they get shit on by geng and no one gives a shit about their run fr cause they had easy draw to get there. it honestly worse than losing with a big fight
Would Faker/Chovy win Worlds with BB, Yike,Hans and Sama even thought if they would be perfect in english? The answer is pretty simple. Of course not. Would Caps be able to win with T1/GenG Roster if he could speak perfect korean? I guess so. This says all about Caps. Best the west ever had and probably ever will. After 2x Worldsfinals in row, I hope he once will win it.
You waited for a year for this. Now put that on G2's perspective. It sucks knowing that you still have a lot of things to show the world. The hits hard when you go home, watching others play. Then you realize the whatifs. They literally throwed the game on the baron and rumble tp. Like whatif they just finished baron and never turned? Stay strong G2 hopefully you qualify next year as well.
I feel like G2 are never going to be able to have international success if they stay in EU, I just dont think they can reach their full potential when they gap between them and the rest if the LEC is so large.
Leave to scrim in kr and china and put a place holder team in lec. Bad for sponsorship and economics but if they want practice thats the only way.@@martinkaradjov6153
@@martinkaradjov6153 1 change the garbage format and 2 work together to make the region better for example stop jailing players or gift them to NA 3 i don’t like it but for the short term 1-2 high quality import in top 3 teams would improve the level for the short term maybe with the LPL expdus who knows
@@theteamxxx3142 Long, TL:DR; Who to replace on G2? Imports =/= better (e.g. Piglet & Pyosik). LEC's competition is terrible & hindering improvement. Revive the old OGN system where Western teams could earn a spot to play vs Koreans. Who would you even replace on G2? The 5-man is still competitive with the East's best, their issues mostly stem from in-game decisions. You can't really improve that with an import shotcaller. It's also risky. Imports don't necessarily improve the state of play & can be a downgrade for the team in most cases. You're running the gauntlet of hoping your import can assimilate to a different continent & the organisation's culture, overcome the communication problems, mesh with the team's style of play, & not view it as a semi-retirement where they're only putting 30-40% effort in. Do you end up with an Impact type import or a Piglet type? Or do you end up with a Pyosik situation & still get knocked out by GAM and peak 3rd place LCS as a World champion. What we need is better talent coming through the LEC. G2 is at a ceiling domestically that no one else can consistently reach to challenge them. It requires them to play down to their opponents, so the room for improvement is basically non-existent. EU screwed itself by having NA poach our talent for years & we never domestically developed past that. I wish Riot would bring back the option for Western teams to play abroad more often, let teams earn a spot in the LPL/LCK. They might not reach the international stage that year, but surely the level of competition is worth it as a training block.
This year, compared to the previous 3, they really should have made it through. They really were looking good this year and if not for the pressure they wouldn't have probably thrown it like that at baron in the last game. Besides the first game, G2 really looked better than BLG for the majority of the game and I really thought it was finally done after that teamfight before the baron throw. I swear that if there were no nametags, I would have put my bets on 2 asian teams fighting in this series. Sad times
