Caesar King’s Character Design is S TIER | Zenless Zone Zero Analysis

that's an interesting interpretation! everyone knows hell's angels so it's definitely possible. i read her as being viking inspired (not accurately but loosely) because of the terminology surrounding her descriptions and abilities: battle spirit, glory, and conqueror. her ult is called savage smash, which is pretty violent sounding, and vikings are caricatured as being "savage" (although ofc i don't believe all vikings were like this). she's also often drawn in brave, strong, and heroic poses, which supports her concept of being this emboldened warrior. to me, her old design looks even more "viking" inspired, i can clearly see how they transferred some of those elements to her new design. also, she's got motorcycle body armor, which seems like a reference to her viking warrior inspired roots. i definitely don't play this game as much as my friends or probably people watching this video. and now that tour de inferno is out, i'm sure we'll get people in here telling us more about her :)

​@@kiraxmisu I can see where you're coming from, but I'm in disagreement about her being Viking themed. I'd see it more if her attacks were named after more typical "Viking attacks" like Berserk or Holmgång, but her attacks are a bit too generically named. I'd argue she's more Gree/Roman themed. The biggest (and the most on-the-nose) point is her name being Cesar King. The name fits because she wants to be a leader (she's pretty much named Emperor of kings, even if that is a bit of a redundancy), which fits well with what I thought was horns, but might be better described as a crown or laurel wreath. Secondly, her biker gang's name is "Sons of Calydon," Calydon is a mythical Greek city where a giant boar used to live, and some quite famous people (most notably Theseus) joined in the hunt for it. This also fits with her boar themed shield she uses. Thirdly, her wolf theme can admittedly be attributed to Viking, but also to Rome. According to the myths Rome was founded by the brothers Romulus and Remus which were raised by a wolf mother. Romans in general were quite obsessed with wolves. They used their skins as cloaks for their soldiers, and their banner used wolf motifs. Fourthly, and the most tenuous, her heroic poses seems to fit in better with the Greek heroes rather than the more gruff Vikings. Vikings tend to be portrayed more wild and brutal rather than heroic. So all in all, I'd argue that Cesar King is more Greek/Roman themed rather than Viking.

correct, most biker jackets will have their club logo on the back. like the example photo of los desperados, it's also common to have the name on the front. it's a nitpick but my thing is, if caesar's point of interest is her decolletage, and that's what i first notice, then having something in that area informing us about calydon would've been nice. she's leader of the sons of calydon, and that's her main theme. it also aligns with the spirit of biker subculture - to wear your club loudly and proudly.

i totally see that! when i was looking at burnice it felt like they rounded off her edges too. i was thinking of lucy's design when i was playing through tour de inferno last night. her design is spikey and hard, and she's got a pretty serious and cold personality so to offset that they gave her a smol body and 3 lil pigs lol. can you imagine someone like her looming over you the way caesar does? haha. i wonder why this is the case for the house, is it because it's a gacha game and the characters need to feel relatable/approachable/desirable? or is it a cultural thing, where women that come across as too cold and maybe imposing, can be offputting to players? or is it just a random thing that mihoyo decided lol. i main ashe in overwatch and she's got the badass biker gang aesthetic too, and she's just cold and serious all the way. no cute quirks, no ditziness. shes a very successful character in the west. i'm curious if she's just as likeable in china *shrugs*

@@kiraxmisu Aww that is awhile ago. That was actually the first video I saw of yours. But I'm glad you have other content too, which seems like content of things I like. Not sure if you are fan of old school horror games but there was a game that came out that is like a playstation 1 horror game.
