The owner Saeed Abtahi and the Chef, Ocean, have created a wonderful menu and great wine list. It get great reviews on open table, where it has earned the reputation of being the most romantic restaurant in the DC metro area.Prices are VERY reasonable, and glasses of wine have the best pour of any restaurant I've been to (a full 8 oz.). In this video, our waiter, Mehdi, prepares a single Irish Coffee and talks us through the recipe. We highly recommend Cafe Renaissance. Tell them Remo and Kerstin sent you!

maby it taste nice, and it looks nice. But it is not Irish Coffee, you do NOT add Grand Manier to Irish coffee.

Ok That is amazing, well prepared and mostly a good show and exhibition of skill, but just to clarify, THAT IS NOT AN IRISH COFFEE, it is a SPANISH COFFEE, spanish coffee has kalhua, orange liqueur and melted sugar by fire like this one has, Irish coffee is much more simple, with no fire involved, and only coffee, whiskey, brown sugar and cream.

Irish coffee is brown sugar syrup, jamison or another irish whiskey and lightly whipped cream on top. This video is a type of spanish coffee coffee.

He does all that for show but he does it to keep the glasses piping hot so the cream doesn't sink, ex Irish bar manager :)

This closer to a Leonard Sachs ie instead of irish whiskey you use equal parts Grand Marnier (or Cointreau) and Kahlua. Excellent drink. And he adds some brandy or cognac to it I guess. Note that you dont need any sugar in this one since the liqueurs makes it so sweet.

I think you need to move the camera around much more. There were a few seconds when the camera was not moving, and though it wasn't showing anything important at the time, it disruptted the chaotic camera movement which otherwise was the enduring feature of the video.

That guy is so awesome and I have been there and seen it in real life it is the coolest thing ever and so what he spilled a little u would to and the whisky is jamasons (sorry I spell that wrong) it is the best Irish coffee I have ever tasted

@BlazinColdStoned GM has aswell 40% alc/ 80 proof like regular blended scotch. The difference is, whisky has to be really warmed up before it ignites and burns without great flame (kinda vanishes off the surface). Grand Marnier as it has a lot of sugar gives the lower ignite point. It could work with bourbon whiskey I guess.

The bottle on the front left seems to be Amarula. I have absolutely no idea what that whisky on the front right is. looks pretty generic

Impressive, but that is clearly a SPANISH COFFEE NOT AN IRISH COFFEE. The Irish Coffee gets its name from the Irish whiskey in it, and there's nothing Irish in this.

Fantastic skills and a great display, but this isn't an 'Irish Coffee.' A liqueur coffee to be sure, but not an Irish one.

Agreed. It's clearly inspired by Irish Coffee, but should not to be confused with an actual Irish coffee. It's like if they had a drink called the Banana Split.

Ok first of all whisky at 40% alc doesn't burn from itself. Grand Marnier does the trick in this video. Sparkly, flashy, nice service, but for spilling on the floor I will not give this guy a tip. :P

I don't agree with you every reception is good, if you using irisch whiskey and another alcohol and in my opinion this coffee looks amazing in wine glass and I'm sure, that coffee taste very very good I know, that this is good restaurant because this waiter does this next to guest

i am sure it was supposed to look all very high class and fancy looking ... but i think that irish coffee is actually not that smashing :I - why burning the good whiskey ? - in a wineglass it just looks ... weird oO - ... if not doing it the irish way, why doing it at all then ? =P

Ok - that is not an Irish coffee for sure. Nice presentation. It is also not done, that the cream is not sinking [hey, if you know how to do it, the cream ain't sinking] - but to produce a piping hot specialty coffee - with cool cream. This is the secret to a good alcoholic coffee... it should be hot!
