@@kathleenleebrewster6890Yet...Eddie Had Other Comedians In it THAT Stole Scenes. BECAUSE Eddie IS FAIR..Like THAT!!! **Jing-A-Ling was By Far A FUNNY Azz Character AND BERNIE Brought it To LIFE** !!! Literally 🤌🏼😃
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc I suppose one reason could be because that kinda issue, injustice and racism in the deep south isn't normally seen as comedy fodder- its a deep subject matter that the movie touches on but mixes the humour and spirit of teh characters into it very well. That kinda stuff is normally dealt with in serious films like Shawshank or Cool Hand Luke (although neither film did).
Always was the funniest scene ever , however I finally realized the timing is what brought the scene home. Their responses were like clockwork and the close in photography nailed it down. The first time i seen that scene i was choking. Too damn funny for sure.
The cornbread standoff between Eddie and Big Mike Taliaferro is one of the most memorable comic exchanges in movie history. "LIFE" will always be Hollywood gold and funnier the more you watch it. R.I.P. Bernie Mac, Big Mike Taliaferro, Rick James, Heavy D, Clarence Williams lll, Sean Lampkin, Ned Beatty, and R. Lee Ermey. 🙏
I got this on CD as well. And the commentary is hilarious! Director talks us through scene by scene etc. Rick James who played spanky, had a limp that was real. Eddie Murphy suggested he play spanky. He filled that role brilliantly. Also the director/producer had his wife in as a cameo. She is the lady holding their baby of the bus. When Claude drives the sheriff into town. And all the people who filled that stadium in the ending scene, were not only thousands of extras, but all the families who were involved with filming the whole movie. Yep I watched thousands times lol can't beat it. Hands down. Ed and Martin. Top shelf. Legends bro.
I worked on this movie. It was such a beautiful experience to work with maybe 50 or more brothers out at Disney ranch for a month and two weeks over at Universal Studios. In all my years working in the industry, I never had so much fun going to work every day, we all had a Ball.
I knew this scene was half improvised but I had no idea the back and forth between Eddie and Martin over the cornbread was made up by the both of em before goldmouth said maybe I outta eat yo cornbread, even when they both talk about the killing spree, that was fully improvised 🤣 Eddie & Martin really are Comedic geniuses along with the other comedians at the roundtable
My son passed away 4 years ago. He would always say, "Hey Claude, you gonna eat your cornbread". He sounded just like the guy. I still lmao when I watch this!
@@landgin3781 Hard truth. These "woke" white college kids obsessed with policing everybody know damn well what they're causing, and they're taking the well meaning fools with them. And movies like this are a thing of the past because of it.
This is why RU-vid exist..I LOVE THIS SCENE PURE GOLD..the fact that you can just watch it over and over .Salute to you for uploading this.Top 5 movie of all time.
Bernie Mac had adlibs this whole scene and it could've have been anymore genius!!! Especially "dont say nothin" 😂😂😂😂😂 all of his parts where in and out, which made it that more funnier.
I STILL consider this one of the most underrated 90's movies ever really. It might be classed as a comedy, but there is MUCH more going on in it, add to that everyone cast wise is acting there ass off well, not just Eddie and Martin. The whole thing flows from beginning to end script wise. If you've not yet seen it, do so! you wont regret it.
Much more indeed... Imagine Biscuit was free, but, because he was in jail so long and didn't know how he would have coped in a world that obviously changed in the many years he was there, he rather to die than to go out there... guess he got "comfortable" ... ain't no comedy in that
Eddie is a national and world treasure. More great actors included. Good movie making. Imagine I was thinkin about this scene last night and just laughing. "Let him go and get his own corn bread." Life lesson. You was given yours and now you want mines too ?...
This is a classic scene... I didn't appreciate it 20 years ago ... but looking at it with new eyes it's so funny ... the attention to detail is amazing... I like how Ray (Eddie Murphy) who had to be terrified being in prison with hardcore prisoners... gathered the courage to set the boundaries on how he was to be treated by speaking up for himself.... making everything up along the way... it's like a philosophy on how to survive in any given situation
that’s a good thing! the softer the bread, the sweeter it is. my grandma used to make cornbread so sponge like it just tastes like straight up yellow cake.
soko9984 I’m trying to think of something else he did after this one that was just as funny, but, I’ve never been able to come up with anything. Although, his turn in Dreamgirls was just as memorable, if not funny.
Idk how this movie can be funny yet sad at the same time. But this scene freaking killed me🤣🤣 "HAD TO DO WHAT I HAD TO DO.... TO GET IT DONEE!" LMFAO with his voice getting higher and harder lmao
This movie is so underrated I think that people were not ready ready for the seriousness of the situation while it was incredibly funny there were parts of the movie that hit home. Love this movie instant classic.
