Aside from exiling himself to our basement for more than a decade, this perfectly describes the relationship my dad has with the Lions. Poor soul has had to deal with me laughing at him for 30 years for being loyal to a team that finds new and creative ways to rip out his heart every season. Well, jokes on me too, because Dan Campbell and Jared Goff also got me drinking the Lions Kool Aid this season. And, for once, I'll be glad to come back for more next season.
I grew up on the lions and I think this year really helped my dad feel that hope again, he is a lions fan as well but after so long he seemed so defeated, so every time I said they were going all the way to the top (a line I used since I first got into football) he seemed to just painfully sigh, until it started working, they kicked ASS this year, and I am just happy he got to go out and see that last game on his birthday and probably cheer his head off for a team that made history this year. Lions fan until I die, next year they are going all the way to the top
I finally let myself believe too. As soon as I said, "I think they're going to win," they blew it. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't that they lost - it was the way they lost. It was Pure.
They should have not lost that game. The second quarter at the 2/3 yrd line 4th down and not go for a TD but take a field goal? That would have been the 4 points 35-34 or worse yet, not a single score and the third. Damn shame.
Man it hurts. I guess I can’t be like this. I was only anticipating one playoff win. And we got 2. We were so close, but I still love this team and we’ll definitely be back! Go lions 🦁💙💙
This has GOT to be made up! I know how crazy some Lions fans can be, but this is just a little too hard to imagine! Still hope the Lions can do it next season, tho.
Made enough money last Sunday night from the sale of Meijer’s paperbags outside of Ford field!!!! Thanks Again…and hope things are better next year….*snickers* It won’t be…see you in a decade or two when the next Ford offspring owns the franchise.
The whole entire second half of that game was an embarrassment to their fans they choked just like they did every year. I started to have faith in them when they won their NFC division, but after that game when there was like 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter. I turned my tv off. I just had surgery on my leg. And I am glad that I don’t have to jump for to anything special for this years super bowl..
As a long-time & loyal Lions fan I 'followed' Barry out the door back in 2000 after yet another forgettable 9-7(or so) season. I was FED UP too with their disgusting losing ways both as a team and as a pro sports organization.! For the most part I've stayed away from watching or reading anything about them until this years playoffs when I regrettably 'relapsed' and watched all 3 games. The first 2 were encouraging but I was not holding my breath. The first half vs the 49'ers was a fine display of playoff football and (almost) too good to be true. Sure enough they reverted to form in the 2nd half and 'found' a way to lose a game that had them literally on the doorstep to a Super Bowl FINALLY!! John in this video may end up dying in his basement cause he's going to be waiting a LONG LONG time. As for me I'm back 'on that wagon' hoping to never relapse again!!
