Anne Hathaway - give your Oscar to Caissie. THIS is how you act and sing I Dreamed A Dream. Stunningly sung, with power and grit and the illusion of crying. No need to actually cry as that diminishes any vocal performance. This is perfection.
@@unicornalq11 you fail to miss the point. What Anne did would ruin any performer’s voice if done for more than one day. This is how the song is properly sung, without phlegm in the throat. I’m not pitting them against each other.
@@mattymariah Yeah but Anne sang it for that specific film format, and would probably adapt it if she had to do it live 8 shows a week. Anne did it perfectly for the film, and Caissie did it perfectly for stage. No need to tear either down, both were amazing.
@@scottstephen5129 I’m not tearing Anne down. Having her cry for that was a directorial decision and it sounded awful. It was wonderful acting but you do know singing straight for 8 hours could have completely ruined her voice right? Tom Hooper has no clue how to direct a musical. See: CATS. Samantha Barks, because she came from the West End production, feigned crying for On My Own in the film and the vocal is beautiful and clean. They knew they’d get an Oscar with Anne so Tom just made her shoot I Dreamed a Dream for 8 hours without proper hydration (which is ABSOLUTELY KEY to singing. Vocal cords need lubrication). She and Hugh Jackman could have done permanent vocal damage on that set.
