Absolutely. Taurasi blocked one of Reese's shots and the ball went straight back in Reese's hands and that counts as a rebound 😂😂 So yes it's much harder to get a points/assist double double.
Depends how good you are at either skill, but yeah there are more rebounds in a game than assists. In a basketball game there’s usually at least 1-2 players with 10 rebounds, and I doubt there’s even 1 player with 10 assists in your average game
Yes obviously. Reese will never get a double double with assists because she doesn’t do assists. She is good at rebounds and layups but her shot percentage is really poor even right under the basket.
Interesting. 2 days ago is all 'Reese dropping another double double! She's so good!' Yet getting stuffed by Taurasi, repeatedly. Then comes Clark dropping another 30 on her face. Anyone trying to argue that Reese is ROTY should be disqualified from opening their mouths.
It’s bad for the game that they keep doing that with Reese. New fans tune in, and they see that. It’s so fake. She looks like a high-school player and it’s a bad image for the league. She’s a promising rookie that’s it. Stop the cap, this is the big opportunity.
I believe there was a turning point after the 11 games in 19 days where Kelsey Mitchell started trusting CC more and more. Consequently she started running without the ball and hitting her spots instead of the dribble dribble dribble shoot game she had at the start of the season
The Mitchell dribble dribble dribble game is so annoying because it mostly leads to a lost opportunity about 90% of the time. If she can learn to pass and not shoot when the look is not good enough she will be golden. I am saying she is great right now but with that little change in her game she will be greater.
There were 2 teams that played tonight. CCs team with the offense she runs, and Sides team that gave up 30 points and almost lost the game. She just doesn't learn, or she just doesn't care.
Caitlin got her legs back, that's why her shot was off before the break. I don't know of another player who sprints as much as CC, people don't stop to think how that tires the legs out, even last night she had to ask to be subbed for a short break.
@@Willard-l7tnever was even close CC is more valuable to her team than Reese no hate but she gets 3 or 4 of her team with DD & she still scores kinda hard to debate Reese has 1 job rebounds Cc way more responsible
Sometimes the players seem scared to take a open 3 but Kelsey has no fear 🔥Some of her shots are wild and fun to watch too. The team chemistry looks a lot better overall.
@@danksyart5123 Velcro is right. She has instincs on when & where to drop back and when to cover. As a coach, great to watch! VELCRO! So if she's Velcro, whats CC, Mit, and Boston
Thank you for saying it! It needs to be a full court game. The WBA is a half court league, they hate to run. Clark can get the team up and down the floor. If Mitchell can sacrifice her ISO game and play transition Bball, this backcourt is sick. They need to upgrade the bench and forward over Smith
What makes her a great player is she's got mad skills, she can straight up ball. Anybody can want the team to win, but-dropping multiple 3's, precision passing and assists and running the court, constant movement like Curry and great physical conditioning is what makes her a great player…., in my opinion
Hard to believe CC is a rookie who'll only get better. Think of the best players ever, in any sport as rookies vs where she is now. It's impossible not to be impressed.
We (lol I said We...). The Fever need to keep Mitchell. Mitchell admitted liking it that CC is looking for her and she is learning where to be. She said she is learning from Caitlin.
Half-time speech by Sides: "We're only up to 17 points now. We need to totally slow down and play ball control to throw the Mercury off since there's no way we can play up-tempo all game. I know this for a fact because of my stellar coaching career. So I want you girls to slow down and stop taking so many shots at the basket. Plus, we need to give Wheeler more minutes that an alarmingly overheated Clark at the start of the 2nd half. The Mercury won't know what hit 'em!"
When your team can play like you’re performing a ballet, whether it’s basketball or any other job, it’s very hard to beat that type of team. If you can coach to that level, like Coach Bluder does at Iowa, you become the best you can be.
So Kelsey Mitchell does NOT want to play for the Indiana Fever, and what team does she want to go to? She'll stay with the FEVER if the FEVER pays, but the FEVER is too cheap to pay for KM to stay. So, time to discontinue the silly Angela Reese double double "record" and start giving Chennedy Carter her due as the Sky's most valuable player and awarding Caitlin the ROTY and maybe even MVP. Chennedy lately actually seems to be trying to repair her reputation as a violent out-of-control player who gets bounced from team to team after off-the-wall physical confrontations with other players, including some of her own teammates. But if the WNBA and ESPN keep hyping Angela Reese as the ROTY when she clearly is not, I foresee Chennedy giving Angela Reese a physical beatdown out of sheer disgust with Angela's silly double double "record" race and anger over Anegla's ego over-inflated by undue praise calling her ROTY by the Queens of ESPN & the WNBA & Silly Shrill Sheryl (sic) Swoooopes. Based on ESPN's own play-by-play stats, Angel Reese has 49 own rebounds through 25 games. So 42% of her OREB are her own missed shots. She has also missed 95 layups, that is 3.8 per game.
Izzy, the game shouldn't have been that close. The Fever started red hot and that agonizing lapse in the 2nd to 3rd quarters almost cost them the game. Fever need to play a complete game from beginning to end. And they're not getting much help from the bench. Coach Sides' substitution patterns aren't working very well.
@frkzoid no my friend Wheeler did well tonight. The issue is that Sides tries to mass sub and then you're playing second team against first team. She needs to learn strategic substitutions.
Truth be told, that was an exciting game. It still boggles my mind how they can be up 28 and then have it whittle away down to 5 points, and then Phx having a lead for a little bit. You can see the energy changed once Clark was subbed. Regardless, such a good game and Caitlin is showing what she can do with the right pieces around her. I agree with you in regards to Boston. She can def. play, but it's gotta be something that she could do to bring out her full potential.
The ROTY award has been devalued and rendered meaningless by ESPN and the WNBA. Catilan Clark doesn't need it to validate who she is, everyone already knows that Catilan Clark is the ROTY hands down! But I have never seen a sports league behave the way the WNBA is behaving, like juveniles!
I saw something yesterday where vegas odds had Clark as #3 on the MVP list. So yes depending on how these next 13 games and playoffs go. I also saw stat though that in the last 7 years the the MVP comes from one of the final 2 teams. ROTY race is over no matter what most will want to say.
Kelsey Mitchell definitely needs to stay in Indiana ! Caitlin and Kelsey are a dynamic duo in the WNBA ! Top 3 backcourt combo in the WNBA , if not # 1 ! Indiana cannot afford to let Kelsey Mitchell go ! She compliments Caitlin perfectly ! They are playing great together ! Pay Kelsey Mitchell double or triple or whatever for her to stay with Indiana ! Indiana does not win this game without Kelsey Mitchell !
The only issue with Kelsey Mitchell is when her shot isn't on she doesn't provide anything else on the court. I think they need more 3 and D players in place of Mitchell and Nalyssa Smith
Mitchell’s play has completely changed my opinion of her professionalism and basketball skill set. Unfortunately, of late, she has been hinting about leaving the Fevers to dip her toes in the free agency market. However, is this just her cleaver ploy and negotiation tactic to command more money form the Fevers i.e. if you want my skill set, pay for it. Nonetheless, long term, her leaving the Fevers will be a regrettable mistake on her part. Unlike Shaq and Penny, Shaq and Kobe, I hope Mitchell “I got it moment”is not in the rear view mirror. If I could say anything to her, it would be right now, you are a iron in a red hot fire so, stay with the Fevers and work with CC and AB until the fire dims naturally (which will come soon enough). Curry, Clay and Green for the Warriors kept their iron in the fire and built a championship dynasty while also getting paid handsomely. Mitchell know when you are winning! You have the golden ticket so, where are you in a rush to run to!?!
Lady CC is a coach on the floor. notice the tight man on man at the start of the game, no open shots for the rival team; contested shots are a problem for WNBA teams.
CC223D is also Rookie assistant coach of the year if you listen to what Sides said about the prep for the Mercury game and separately how CC223D made the decision to come off in the Mercury game for a rest. That's a conversation that needs to start. IMO the real watershed moment was the All-Star game when CC223D owned both teams and declined to come on for Arike for the benefit of the W team. CC223D would have made the whole Team USA (and the coach) shine in Paris if Team USA had an impartial coach rather that "two sh*ts Reeves". TSR also suffers from CCDS and is earning the criticism.
Great reflections..Cloud was great serious threat.Mitchell is shining with the processes that are evolving.Hull stop some needed 3’s.There are a few players appearing need more confidence,on the ball. The other Fever Big, she is not being used to her full potential.Fever, need another general,Mitchell is thriving in her role..The team feels lobsided..But CC has a knack for allowing others to raise their game and find their confidence..thats team work and team reliance and resilience is showing.
3:53 I think she just needs to be a little more aggressive; there have been a few times this year where a defender takes or pokes the ball out of her hands way to easily. She’s too strong to keep letting that happen. Other than that I like her game 6:28 it could just be me but it looks like that rest she got really helped. She looked quick and fast out there
agree about Boston. It seems as though there may not be skill coaches in the WNBA. or Maybe not in college. Regarding mid range, floaters, jump hooks, Koby moves etc... Who is teaching these moves
The problem with the Fever and Sides is a weak bench and the need to give the starters some rest without breaking the momentum....so do you rest the stars when you are on the way up, or cresting...and when do you put them back? Many games have been lost on this tough call
You definitely have a point. I think if she rotates kelsey and Clark at the right times they can keep that momentum going. She did good in the first half with it. Wheeler isn't great to me but she can at least help with the run and gun as well.
In my opinion, double doubles should have the rarified property of 2's - 20 points, 20 rebounds + assists combined.....fewer trivial landings at this higher bar
Best game I ever saw as a newcomer……first time Fever way ahead….lost that entirely….then recovered well. If Clark ever gets her 7 threes back….and stays around that area….then yikes. Mitchell is right there with CC in shooting. Hull needs more floor times….she is their defense.
Coach Sides does the same thing every time that the Fever gets a big lead! She thinks they need to slow down and play half court and protect the lead! The Fever are best when they Run, Run, Run and Run Some more!🤯🤫
