Loved this interview. When Aliyah interrupted CC, it just made me smile. The reporter was quick to point out CC’s mistakes and I just love how AB jumped in and defended her like that. It’s like you said, the chemistry on and off the court is really starting to shine through in their games. I’m super excited to see this team grow as the season goes on.

Boston is absolutely correct. Teams that play fast and aggressive tend to have higher turnovers and that doesn't necessarily indicate a problem. Bad turnovers, traveling, offensive fouls, etc result in empty possessions. Some turnovers occur when trying to create opportunities, these are a result of aggressive play and will occur when teams play with pace. Good to see the Fever playing well. This only helps the game.

I’m super excited to see these guys coming together as a team! I love that they have a lightness about them after some wins. I love that there wasn’t anything to distract from the actual game. I love seeing Boston defend CC and seeing Mitchell be more team oriented and happy. It’s cool for them and anxiety reducing for fans. Throughout this whole wild stretch and all the expectation & early judgements, which many of us have expressed, the sane thing is to remember that they’ve played less than 20 games together. Who does something 20 X and masters it, much less when that thing being done relies on others. I’m looking forward to Friday. Praying for a Fever Win!

It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that a week ago I was ready to give up on this team. I’m so happy I was wrong! I’m glad they are finding their groove and that CC seems to integrate well. For a minute there it looked like her team and coach were against her as well. This team became really enjoyable to watch! An exciting season! Who knew 😂😅

What a great take on the Fever. I really appreciate you giving props to AB, KM, and NS. While CC is what brought me to the WNBA 2 weeks ago, never watched a single game before, I enjoy the Fever as a team. Sure they have flaws and were not very good early on but they are super young and started out very awkward, due in large part to their horrendous schedule. To watch them grow as a team has been really fun. And while I agree that CC is currently a top 10 player in the league, she can't do it on her own and I wish more people would recognize that. The more consistent her team gets, the better she will become. It is already starting to show.

Went back and watched CC best passes last year at Iowa. CC has shelved 60% of her passing to fit this team. The 40+ feet passes are gone. Her and Fagbenle did have some of those. The transition game is mostly a secondary break game. CC typically has slow the ball down to allow her teammates to catch up. Not being critical it is what it is. I am really disappointed by not incorporating Celeste Taylor in this team. I also went back and looked at Celeste at Ohio State last year. She is the best defender on this team. She is the second best dribbler/ball handler on this team. She is a better shot blocker than CC is. She is the second best passer on this team. She is as fast at Kelsey and a better all around player. She is fantastic on the break and can catch the ball. She is a better version of Kate Martin and better 3 point shooter. I am surprised CC has not pulled her aside at practice and worked with her. Or at least constantly talking to Sides about her. Big L. Not saying she should start. Saying she should be in the rotation. Robin look at her highlights at OSU. You will see the most athletic person on this team. Note: CC is a athlete but not athletic. Larry Bird was not athletic.

Not agreeing with all your sentiment here, especially Clark not being athletic?? Sheesh, a weird claim. And how do you know what Clark has or has not done during practices? That's also odd . . . And also, keep in mind obvious context: College is NOT pro. ALL that being said, I do think Taylor deserves a more serious look and ought to receive more playing time . . .

I think Sides is learning too. She'll never have been prepared for this level of scrutiny and pressure. And their opening schedule gave her little time on the practice court. If she can grow the chemistry of the team and continue to develop how they play together--it's a good job on her part. All coaches make in-game choices that you're like "what?!" but if she gets the big picture stuff going, it's pretty good. I think she's growing into the job week by week.
@pattibond2342
@pattibond2342 4 месяца назад
@@mercurialblondeI'm sorry, but I think Sides has No chemistry with that team. It's obvious that she has her favorites, and she's going to play them no matter what. Bad choice, if you want to be a Winning Team. I understand trying to figure things out...... But when you're a coach at that level, and you've got players who are firing together or is "hot", and you take them out of the game "just because", then you've got some Serious problems. That's just common sense. This Team will go Nowhere, with Sides as the coach. She's probably that team's worst enemy.
@mercurialblonde
@mercurialblonde 4 месяца назад
@@pattibond2342 you don't really know what she's basing her decisions on though. Coaches have more information than we do and she's trying to balance a lot of egos. Wheeler for instance is a Max player on the bench. That's not an easy situation. She also may prefer certain combinations for a variety of reasons. She should be judged on results and performances. And right now she's getting both

That season opening schedule was pure torture...for players and fans. By the time they played the Liberty on the 11th game they were so depleted it was like leading a lamb to slaughter. But sticking together through that kind of adversity builds character. It's really fun to watch this team begin to put their pieces together. Still a work in progress, but with Caitlin at the center of it all, we've got some moments of pure magic ahead of us. Fun stuff!!

Look at CC stats compared to Taurasi, Plum and Loyd. She is better than those 3 Olympic team guards. They only beat her in pts but they take more shots. CC has more rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. And eFG and TS. Add in she was the greatest college player and it’s a crime they kept her off the team.

@atilathesonofdanubius4277 4 месяца назад
Straight on. I believe at the beginning Caitlin was feeling pressed to score, even thou she was being defended by two or three players in most games, who can score efficiently that way, nobody can. What the coach has done is perhaps ask Caitlin, only shoot when you feel comfortably, if not pass to someone else. So now the team has found their rhythm. The only think they need now is that whenever they play someone like the SUNs which is a very defensive team equal by nobody else, they need to slow down and pass the ball more. Thats how you defeat a very defensive team, by making them work even more.

CC is a very effective PG in Fever's transition and set offense as compared other guards bring down the ball in set offence. Use the BB offensive strenghts of each player on the team it makes it harder for the opposition to defend against multiple offensive threats. Chemistry and familiarization takes time especially involving each team member, not just a connection between 2 players, but everybody on the court. This is good for both defense and offense. Teammates playing as a TEAM in both defense and offense for the WIN.

Let’s get real. These rookies like Clark just get done with a college season and hop right into the WNBA season. None of these rookies are on fresh legs. Also the brutal schedule with no time to gel in practice hurt them. They lost a few close games early on and really could be 8-8. Lots of ups and downs with such a young team and I think they are ahead of schedule considering what they had to deal with early on. I’m already looking forward to seeing this team next year after a season together and a offseason of rest for Clark.

You can finally see some chemistry in this interview. Mitchell's a little sluggish on getting close to Clark, but she's coming along. I think the wnba (plus the Fever), were under the assumption that Clark was going to come in there thinking she was going to take Everything over. I think they're figuring out that she's an unselfish, and actually a pretty humble player! Clark just wants to win! She's not worried about her Own numbers, because she knows that will come with the territory. Still, get rid of Sides. She makes Stupid decisions. She's Bad for that Team. She's Destructive; Toxic. I don't care what anybody says, she doesn't like Clark. It shows. Sides wants to make All the decisions, because "she's the coach". Sides Will hold back that Team, and Clark. Get a New Coach & some player swaps, and you've got a good Team!!

AB’s confidence and professionalism should have brought her to the beginning of the season in shape. She entered the season seriously lacking in conditioning so, she can go take a seat with comments. This is the same AB who laughed in CC’s face when CC got hip checked during a game. The game is not won in press conferences but on the court. AB should try defending CC on the court where it matters and practice setting effective screens. AB does not get a pass from me. She is the biggest body on the team, she needs to continue to her job! Mitchell’s body language sucks during press conferences. How about she sit up and look interested

First, good for the Fever after that crazy schedule with top teams. They've taken advantage of the not-so-good teams that they've had, but they haven't played Phoenix or the Lynx yet either. They beat a decent Dream squad where Tina Charles only played like 10 minutes and looked lethargic. I'm guessing she was under the weather and appears back to normal. If they go 0-4 over their next 4 games everyone is going to wonder what happened. Playing good teams is what happened. They have the Dream again I think and then Chicago before heading into rougher waters again. They have to do it against a good team before I become a believer. You know, kind of what we expect from any team regardless of the sport.

Honestly, I have to appologize to Sides. I thought she was just incompetent and awful--but it's starting to come together. I can see the vision. It's a lot to balance with Clark, Boston, and Mitchell--but when it clicks they look really good. This could be a playoff team which would be a helluva achievement. I agree with what you say that they are kind of developing a big three. Mitchell, Boston, and Clark are all starting to lock in at 14-20 points a game. And defensively they are looking worlds better. I still think Hull needs to play more. Smith is a great x-factor. It's starting to look...kinda good.

I am one view away from being a former follower of your site. Your mercurial swings in advocacy are dizzying and lack context for your content. Any improvement in the team’s performance is in spite of the coach and totally dependent on Caitlin’s leadership. If she could have control of Wheeler and Wallace then you would see a meteoric increase in this team’s performance . Having a ball hog accomplishes nothing if they refuse to pass the ball to her teammates, they run around using up the time clock before they take the lowest percentage shots or passes the ball because there is zero time on the clock.
