Everyday passengers shared a commercial flight with Clark and the Indiana Fever Thursday. The WNBA heavily relies on commercial flights for in-season away games.
Teams give tickets out all the time to make it sold out! Even in the nba! You gauge the popularity by the actual revenue which the wnba still doesn't bring in! Hopefully the hype doesn't die down after this year for there sake
Saying nothing actually. Like all WNBA players, who??? There is no star power. You have 1 player on a college team that the coach/media decides to elevate. When they went against a TEAM with multiple talent, they lost. This story has fizzled out faster than an open can of soda.
@@MailHandlerInThe505…and people still haven’t shown up on the past. Her first preseason game was almost at full capacity. Whether people pay for tickets or not, they still have to tune in or show up. This girl makes that happen.
They already dropping the ball. You have to make her seem larger than life! All these social media influencers are going to start showing up at airports harassing her for content
look at ticket prices for Fever games this year, home and away. look at her jersey sales. CC herself is generating enough revenue for at least the Fever to fly private
The problem is if Caitlin flys private out of pocket, or flies her team private, then all the other WNBA players, especially the old guards will be mad and jealous. There's no winning with the pettiness.
Its not about them being jealous, its a bonding thing, and chemistry when players don't travel together they lose time they could be talking to each other and building chemistry
@@jordy65056 Caitlin should be flying private purely for security and privacy reasons. And if she flies private/chartered, so should her team. The problem is the teams that don’t have a superstar that requires them to fly private will feel some type of way about the teams that do. I think that’s the point of the OG comment.
@@W4TSKY no that's not the problem, the problem is that there is a rule that unless every single team in wnba flies privately then no team can fly privately, its a wnba rule
Facts I actually use to watch Candace and Maya, but I ran into flaujae, then seen Reese and Clark and I'm officially brought me back..juju is insane got me thinking about Gigi
They’re crazy. A private plane for a single game costs more than some of these WNBA players make in an entire season and they’re stupid enough to believe the WNBA can suddenly afford to get them chartered flights.
What are you talking about? This is the WNBAs moist dream for the last 30 years.. this is their one chance to make improvements. I can’t wait to watch them mess it up
To play kids games? Those kids games help people get into colleges all across the country and on the collegiate and 1:53 professional level win over the hearts of countless fans across the country and world. Many of which leave hard working honest jobs and enjoy a cold brew and watch basketball, football, baseball etc. I’m so confused about what you’re being cynical about…
Erica Wheeler is a consummate professional who knows that Clark's presence will be beneficial for the entire team. Wheeler still will get more than half the minutes of each game at point guard, especially in Clark's rookie year, and you can bet that the coaches will figure out an offense that puts both Wheeler and Clark on the floor at the same time. Clark actually may wind up being better at shooting guard than point guard in the professional ranks, similar to when the Knicks had Earl the Pearl and Clyde Frazier in the same back court in 1973 and both prospered as did the team. Same goes for the Bulls of the 1990s with Pippin and Jordan on the floor together. Throw Aaliyah Boston into that mix, and the Fever will have a formidable offense to contend with.
Well stated. The Fever has depth of talent and will put people together on the court. Wheeler & Clark together would give defenses trouble. Various combinations, up to all 5 on the floor playing together, this can be a strong team.
@@brianroesch3259 I honestly think Chicago Sky are the winners of this draft with the Angel Reese and Cordosa addition to a young yet balanced squad with very capable veteran leadership. Plus an awesome guard to feed an active team. It's really all about finding the right chemistry. This can be close to a free-flow college bball team. Sort of like how the Pacers & TWolves are playing. While Fever may get the hype, watch for Chicago to low-key make a proper run.
@@LeonNeuton Very interesting observation you make on the Chicago Sky. Looking at their roster, it looks like some serious players ready to go. As you say, capable veteran leadership. If Reese and Cordosa can really hit in the paint, & all the players get chemistry going, this team could be a force.
I'm sure someone out there remember the days when you could see an NBA team in airports. The league started in 1946, the Pistons were the first team to charter flights in 1987. The W is still a young league.
The teams weren't making enough money to fly charter until the late 80's. This is one reason why the Lakers 33 game win record is so amaizing. They flew charter, and often played three games in a row with at least one being on the road. I don't think a modern team would win 60 games under those conditions.
@BroughtTheSmoke you should quit your whining! Caitlin is bringing the eyes. That's a GOOD thing! If other women are worthy, then the more eyes that are brought, the more they will be noticed. It's all a good thing. Embrace it!
There's no doubt that Clark is bringing the lion's share of interest and attention to the leeg without a doubt, but there's other players in this draft class who bring their own level of clout, hype and talent to the league. The Caitlyn hype machine is so thorough that even these 2 people interviewed were just like oh wow I was in the same plane and airport with Caitlyn Clark, kind of ignoring the other fever players which is kind of lame so these 2 people are exposing themselves as Clark Fanboys
Clarks presence has allowed Indiana to have an average attendance of 16k for WNBA. That’s amazing! Also league attendance is not as good as that but it’s up with all of the teams. Just goes to show how awesome our economy is because if it was struggling like some suggest I doubt they would be spending money going to WNBA games. .
Clark needs to get new representation as far as her agent goes. This should've already been negotiated in one of her many NIL deals or brand deals to have them include chartered flights to her games. It's bad enough she inked a lowball deal with Nike as it is, her agent could've at least got chartered flights thrown in the deal.
The mens sports teams paid for those college chartered flights. If your business doesn’t turn a profit, you can’t spend money you don’t have on chartered flights. Why is this so hard to understand.
The wnba is Soo frickin mismanaged when it comes to marketing and promotion. Tonight Indiana and Chicago are playing at the same time at 8 Chicago has two high profile draft picks that folks are curious why couldn't they just have the games back to back? So folks can see both games??
Why are the games not televised? That also makes no sense! They should have a RU-vid page where they include recordings of the game. That could be extra revenue! I look at all those vps and general managers and a million other titles of people just getting a salary in the wnba and basically doing nothing!
She's the best female player in history. They are talking about her. Lots of people want to see her. It's a safety issue. She's like the Beatles for girls basketball. I know you have a little pp and are insecure so you have to talk smack about women but it's not complicated to understand this girl needs more security
@@joketsu100first of all she is not the best player, she is one of the best shooters. These women been in the league fighting for this for decades and now all of a sudden because of her they want to make light of the situation. Also I’ve been watching WNBA since 1999 and I’m a season ticket holder for the CT Sun since 11, I’m sure I support women sports more than you.
@@jexcel07I’m fully aware they been wanting it, my question is why it’s needed more now because she is there?? Was the women safety not important before?? I recall last season they had a team sleeping in an airport because their flight was cancelled, no security or anything.
Women's College Basketball makes far more money than the WNBA has ever dreamed of. UConn probably made more money and sold more tickets last season than the WNBA has in its entire existence lol.
Going out on a limb here, but maybe, just maybe, it is a good thing for them to fly regular commercial for a few more years to help build their fan base and get a little closer to the fans that they want to support them and spend their money on them. Traveling charter and hiding from the fans is not going to help do that. Build the product and then you will have a successful league!
It would be nice if the addition of Caitlyn Clark helps all of the WNBA to become more profitable and to make more money as a whole. I mean, the Indiana Dallas preseason game is sold out, which is great. But will there be an increase in interest in non-Caitlyn clark games. I would imagine there will be some, just don't know how much.
When the WNBA can carry themselves $$$$$ and pay for the flights on their own dime. Then they could fly private. But as long as the NBA is footing most of their bill.... NO!
Keep on the down low ,humble ,grounded & connected, athletes know the projection of rising up from poverty to Riches . It is a slow & calculated process. They are human .
Oh god!!! I can hear all the other jealous women talking smack if they change the rules because of her, not realizing that no one wants to follow you or be at the airport when you land. This girl changed the image of the women's game, be happy and proud of her
I think its cool she came to indiana, she has that.larry bird aura about her, alot of people/players want to say shes not that good, but she just keeps proving that she is a great player, im dying to see a bird/cc photo!!
I’ve been going to WNBA games since the league started. I could get great seats with not a lot of planning. Those days are over but I’m ok with it I guess 😂
Wnba players complained about commercial Lol. NBA should atop paying for their league to run, let them branch off if the players think they are good enough for their teams to pay for flights. Wtf should the mens league pay for the women to stay afloat
caitlin clark is to women's basketball what tiger woods was to golf. hopefully, they won't lengthen the court, or scream 'get in the basket' just as she shoots, or snap flash bulbs in her eyes just before she shoots. gotta love america.
Men's leagues took commercial in their beginning as well. It took decades for men's sports to make big time money. Women should just focus on getting viewers and they'll earn their private jets.
Indeed, the NBA has been subsidizing the WNBA for 30 years. They can't have private jets when they're selling like 500 tickets a game and their biggest sponsors are the local, "Your Job is Your Credit" used car dealers and rent to own furniture stores.
