Excellent lesson, Ross. Thanks for the clear methodical approach - very useful! Regarding drummers who use space well, Phil Collins comes to mind. As a drummer, might be known more for his dramatic fills, yet he plays with a lot of sensitivity. Several songs on Genesis “We Can’t Dance” album feature songs with this aspect, such as “Hold on My Heart” and “Driving the Last Spike.” Thanks again for all the terrific instruction - keep up the great work!
Thanks so much Robert! I like trying these kind of simple, memorable but effective practice ideas. Phil Collins is absolutely one of the best!!! I’ll go have a listen to those songs 🎧
Hey! Coming from a highschool drumline/concert percussion experienced player. I really enjoyed this video. Gonna try to throw this, and varitions into my daily routine. Thank you so much for the video! -side note, when i turned my phone horizontal, the logo was over the "a" L bass hit at the final part of the excercise. Not sure if thats just a me thing.
Hey Matthew! I’m glad the video helped give you some extra practice ideas. Ahh okay, it might be something that happens on most phone screens. Maybe I’ll make sure the sheet music doesn’t hit the edge of the screen so much for future videos :-) thanks for letting me know!
Thanks so much! Glad I could share something a bit new and fun while being pretty beneficial I think. Did you enjoy having some backing music in the video?
