One of my favorite Cake tracks. The vocals don’t sound like much at first because of the restricted range, but then you try to sing along, and it’s utterly relentless. I’m usually out of breath by the end, and I love it every time.

@@SnakeSkillett They do have a lot of great songs. These are just the ones I like the most. You like Mexico, which is a great song. If I extended my list to say 20, Mexico would likely be on there. I only stated my opinion, just that and nothing more.
they were pretty big in the 90's and early 2000's I always listened to them and they were always on the radio, when people still listened to radio stations
@@muhammadridha9776 I wonder why people take the time to comment "this band is underrated" on every video of critically approved and/or cool underground bands. What does that even mean? What is properly rated? Opening for imagine dragons? If you spend time developing your music taste you can find all kind of gems and there is nothing stopping you today to find them
This song has aged like fine wine. Its lyrics are just as potent now as they were back then. It’s a perfect political and social commentary on the American culture of both parties and corporate America. They act as your friends, but don’t really care. This song teaches to not trust the corpos.
unbelievably hard. so glad i got to see them live. my dad rented out jetskis to the lead guy Xan. i got to shake his hand in person at the marquee in phx.
This song, in my opinion, is peek lyricism. Lines like “Do you believe in the one big sign, the double wide shine on the boot heels of your prime” or “the wacky morning DJ says democracy’s a joke” are the reason I look up to John McCrea as a writer
And... I read somewhere that their biggest hit, the distance, was written by the guy they kicked out of the band. Lame. If you ask me. It's catchy, though.
My mother's day present is to see you guys in a few days!!! In celebration of the upcoming show, I've been going back through the catalog,, and as much as I dislike admitting.... I forgot you guys had so many gems from my youth. Going to be such a nostalgic and incredible show I know, can't wait! ❤
Oh oh man! I remember when this CD came out. Waited for Cake for such a damn long time , and they did not disappoint!! Brings me back to the good ole days. Love this album always will
When I was 17 I had to import this album at an expense for a teenager. Seen you live 3 times. And whenever sad I listen to this song or The Distance. Thank you so much for the years of joy you have brought me. ❤
@@aurorafranco3488 Pretty funny. But kinda corny, like an Adam Sandler film. Gwyneth was great in it. That part where Hal sees the real Cadence in the burn unit killed me, a real punch in the gut.
I couldnt find this song, I dont knnow the lyrics to find it, until i remembered it was on that movie, but the movie doesnt credit the song, it was such a journey, but a Shazam-like app helped me with just like 3 seconds of the song.
one day when i was studying for my idiotic business degree i heard some kid on campus keep repeating "Meester Corporate Finance" and I knew he was channeling the essence of this masterpiece
...and the puffy white lines that the airplane leaves behind, are drifting right in front of the waning of the moon. good stuff, classic Cake song. fasten your safety belts, and step towards the ledge...we are building a religion

My father used to have this and a few other songs (example: never there, short skirt/long jacket and the distance) while I was riding the car with him and listening to this song brings back those memories
“Some people drink Pepsi, some people drink coke; the wacky morning DJ says democracy’s a joke” Fell in love with the song since first listen. But that’s like all CAKE songs. Literally lol.
I saw them in Seattle on New Year’s Eve 2009 going into 2010. They opened with this song! The only disappointment of that show was I didn’t win the tree with the raffle ticket
