This was before the internet got big, and made it popular to watch regular people react to things. The first time I saw this I was like, "What a weird idea for a video." Now this is life.

People just don't know the joy the country had as a collective in the mid-late 90s. And this isn't some back in my day nostalgia spiel, as soon as 9/11 happened we knew it'll never be the same. I missed these years even three years later. We could be corny, nit everything was so serious. We weren't constantly plugged in, we spoke to people in real life. We got bored and would look at the world just around us to find entertainment. This song and songs like it take me back to that time even if just for a little over 3 minutes.

This video has been my most reliable source of ASMRs for years. This song is a complete parody to the typical objective representation of women in music. It is a totally ironic song, like most of their other music. That's why I love cake. That and trumpets. I like big brass and I cannot lie.

This song has a very special place in my heart because of Chuck. One of my favorite shows of all time and this as the theme song really completed the show.

Listened to this album at the side of the road fixing a flat tire in driving rain. 5 people with luggage out of trunk to get spare tire. Put luggage in car to stay dry, 5 people standing in pouring rain with this pumpin' from the stereo. Tire fixed and back on the road, everyone singing the lyrics. Great memory, great album.

I've been looking for this song/video for over 10 years now. I just yesterday found it. All I knew is that it was about people on the street listening to it and giving their thoughts on it. I love that feeling of looking for something for so long and finally finding it. That being said, I'm really saddened by Steve's death, he seemed like a great guy, and he was a hell of a dancer.

BEST SONG EVERR! I'm 22, and this was one of the first songs I learned on the guitar, such an awesome riff. That opening verse is great too! Such an up-beat song. To this day it brings me back to that happy feeling of being an innocent kid.

Gotta love CAKE. They weren’t stylish or sexy, but their sound was unique and distinctly them. Their lyrics were full of honest feeling and completely lacking pretension. This music video is a perfect example of all of those qualities - some people pretty much said the song was shit and it still made it into the music video. 😂

True Story Time. On Friday, July 27, 2001 Cake headlined a free concert at the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. I was a student at Auburn and wasn’t going to miss it for anything. Their 17th song that night was this new single they were about to release. They were going to play it but wanted audience participation. They taught us the Na-na, na-na, na-na. Na-na, na-na, naa-na… part and had the audience repeat it a few times. Apparently there was some chick on the front row that wasn’t doing it. Right in the middle of one of the na-na’s, John McCrea screamed “Everybody Stop!” Music halted and you could hear a pin drop. Well, not really but for that many people it felt dead silent. He says “everybody see this chick up here wearing the beanie? She’s not singing! Security, get her the F- out of here! You don’t get to be in the front row of my free concert and not sing along! See all those people back there? They would love to be on the front row!” And the band waited until she was removed from the show. Everyone booed her all the way out. Then they started up again and it was one of the best audience participations ever seen at any show. I bet the Na-nas could be heard in the whole city. Epic night.
