Cal Dietz sat with our Power Athlete Block One Coaches for a presentation on all things athletics a day before the 2019 Power Athlete Symposium. A long-time friend of Power Athlete, his insights on testing training and finding sometimes surprising results leads us down a rabbit hole of knowledge. What exactly can heart rate variability teach us? What is the true value of a VO2 max? And how can we consistently use bio feedback to produce unprecedented performance gains? Dietz delivers on this athletics talk with a group of very switched on coaches.

Before watching this, I read and listened to Keith Baar talk about how the muscle-tendon complex is affected by (basically) time under tension, and I found a lot of overlap between what Keith Baar was recommending for soft tissue injury prevention and the first two phases of Triphasic training.

Mind blown. I have so much to learn. I train hockey players, specialize in skating, but its apparent how much more there is to learn and apply

is there a way to apply this method for ACL rehab workouts? or would it be too dangerous?

So my take on all of this and its seem compensation patterns created by the brain for what ever reason are wrong. Certain muscle patterns are proactive first when they need to be reactive (core for example). If the right muscle isn't proactive 1st in the right pattern then we have injuries.

While it's great to receive this info; just looking at this guy side-on suggests to me he is in no way athletic outside of the weight room It's almost alongside taking nutrition advice from an obese nutritionist If he knows how to make people more athletic, why does he not look like an 'athlete' himself? Yeah, we could argue about his credentials/qualifications and whatnot - but that still doesn't really explain the disconnect between his knowledge and application of said knowledge

It is quite stressful to make INDIVIDUAL training programs for 100s of athletes who must perform at high levels at national and world level. Also, when you have a wife and or female partner, your stress levels go through the sky (all the nagging, ultimatums, divorce threats, taking the kids threats, bitching, complaining, cheating etc.) and when you add children to the equation, multiply the stress levels by x1000. This is why men should NEVER marry or have relationshits with females and never have kids. Find some constructive hobbies instead. He looks quite good when everything stated above are looked at, just a bit of belly.

Cal Dietz is one of the best in the business. Man is a genius and is universally respected. You might want to research him. And he knows how to make people more athletic. He’s respected by some the best coaches in the business such as Chris Korfist, Dan Ficther, etc.

@@tysonmann3555 Plz see the comment above. If he's a "genius" and "respected" + knows how to make OTHER people athletic, why does he not look athletic himself? I could sit on my couch eating chips and watching TV while claiming to have all the knowledge to make other people more athletic. There's a disconnect between knowledge and application here. "you're not using you're toe" "I just fixed your hip extension problem" "Hey sorry cant talk now, I'm watching American Idol while cooking Mac 'N Cheese for dinner" "But I am SO respected"

What is off is that you obviously think that he’s not in good enough shape to teach the science because in your eyes He's not fit? I dare say most of the doctors I work with as colleagues are not as fit as an athlete ,but it doesn't affect their desire to help people. From my brief encounters with him he is amazing and caring person who helps as much as possible and has a very kind heart. And generous too! I am positive he could care less. My question to people like yourself is WHY DO YOU CARE... their are plenty of videos out their that may have what you are looking for. Clearly it isn't for some new insight on how to care for athletes and improved your personal knowledge base.
