@@simplytanya Oh yay! So there are quite a few options for learning communities, and I had no clue how they worked until I had to register for the housing. So basically, when you are registering/signing up for housing it will show you a page with all of the different options with a brief description of the communities and that's how I determined what I wanted to be in. But, you have to select your top 5 communities because there is a chance that you might not get into the one you want. The options range from communities that you can choose focused around your major, mindful living (which is what I'm in), substance free, and a few other options. But the only thing is that you shouldn't base your community off of which dorms you want to live in because they typically change the location of where each community lives every year, so there is no guarantee where you will live based off of which community you choose (I hope that made sense haha). So just try to find which community you truly think you will be happiest in based off of the descriptions, and then you will probably end up having the best experience that way. Also, just in case you're curious I love being in mindful living. Everyone was super nice and it's mellow, but everyone also still knows how to have a good time haha I know this was suuuuuper long, but I hope it helped :)

@@simplytanya I was thinking about rushing before I went to college, but then I just thought I would wait to see how busy college would be first, and then rush 2nd year. But, after seeing what all the girls went through to get into the sororities I don't plan on rushing. All of my friends who rushed really love their sororities, but it's honestly such a time consuming and draining process to rush so I just can't picture myself doing it haha
yeah! they're so nice!! there are generally two quads on every floor, and they're all really big and spacious! The quads are double the size of the doubles, which are also big as well. So, if you're thinking about being in a quad, you will definitely have enough space (at least in yakʔitʸutʸu). You guys will also have double the appliances (trashcans, recycling, desks, and i think maybe even refrigerators), so running low on space for everyone shouldn't be an issue.
@@michellelee9566 yeah, they're all really good! and there aren't really many other quads in the other dorms, so you'll probably end up in yakʔitʸutʸu that way (and it's definitely the best haha). You'll love it :)

So basically the back of the desk topper sticks down further than the rest of it, so it fits in between the desk and the wall which holds it in place! So there are no bolts or any attachment involved. Hopefully that makes sense, but if it doesn’t then lmk & I can try to explain it in a different way :)
is this community specific to any majors/are there specific halls with different majors? I really wanna apply to Cal poly next year but have no idea of the dorming situation and can't seem to find a lot of information online. Also, would you say it's difficult to apply to these dorms since they're newer + are they more expensive? sorry for all the questions! I'm very eager to know more about these dorms hehe
No worries, im happy to help :) So there are a lot different living communities for different dorm halls, for example mindful living, substance free, 24/7 hours quiet, pre-health track, major based, etc. So basically when you're applying to the university housing, they will ask you what living community you want to be in, and you pick your top 5, but they don't tell you what dorms those living communities correlate with. And every year, they switch which community lives in which dorms, so it's constantly changing. Therefore, you pick what living community you think you'll live best in, rather than just which dorms you want. After you pick your living community, they ask if you want to live in discounted or regular housing, which is another way of asking if you would want to live in a quad/triple (which is living with 2-3 people) or a regular double dorm (which is living with only one other person). This decision is what determines the price of your housing. The new dorms might cost a little more, but I'm not sure because I don't remember hearing anything about a price difference or anything like that. So, the new dorms are not harder to get into, because it is completely based off of your living community and where it just happens to be placed that year which has always been random in the past since they switch them every year. And as far the pricing of the new dorms, I'm not sure if the cost more or not. I hope this answered your questions, but let me know if it didn't or if you have any other questions! And good luck!!
