The Ripken family holds such a very special place for me. Can't believe he's 63! (I'm 70). As a sports writer my sister got to interview Cal Sr and miss Vi, just great people, Cal Sr gave her tomatoes from his garden! Down to earth. I cried like a baby when he broke the Lou Gehrig record ❤
Cal is my all time favorite player ever. And I have all three versions of Billy’s famous baseball card, the white out on the bat and the blackout one, and the original. Great interview.
This interview did my heart good. I've been an Orioles fan since 1970. I can still remember all the players. But, my all time favorite player was Cal. I had all kinds of Cal memorabilia all over the place. I saw Cal play numerous times at Tiger Stadium. I always tried to get his autograph but, never did. Anyway, the memories of those days and just being in attendance to see Cal play will live on forever. This is a great interview with a great Hall of Famer. ❤
@@FlippinBatsPodI'm a Springfield, Virginia dude who used to travel through both Beltways (I-495 and I-695) to see this Orioles in the 80s AS a little kid then THRIVING now!
I was in Buffalo State University trying to figure out how to write COBOL code and watching Cal Ripken and Eddie Murray lead the Orioles to another World Series championship in 1983. The first one I could really appreciate as I was 12 in 1970 and didn't have a clue then Pittsburgh burst the bubble twice in 71 and 79..
He comes across as such a genuine human being, great interview. Saw him play in 1997 on my first trip to Camden Yards, I remember he made a couple of great plays and had a double. Nice to hear the whole story of you hitting the HR against your brother. You mention it all the time, but this is the first time we get the full context. Which HOFer is next on your list, I wonder
Watched Cal play in Rochester and he is my all time favorite baseball player. Incredible player and an even more incredible human being. Outstanding interview. Thank you
I live a mile from Ripken Stadium…got to play there in my early 20’s a few times too….AWESOME place and Cal’s around quite often…GREAT man…FYI, he beat Kevin Costner’s ass in the early 90s…people around Baltimore will know but I’ll just leave it at that…lol
Oreo’s will be the 4th or 5th place by 1 September! 😂😂😂 They have faced teams with banged up pitchers and key starters, plus they had a very favorable schedule!
That might very well be but man the ride has been great! However they've battled back so many times I'm not even going to venture guess. Besides, Cal Jr. says he thinks they've got a chance, who's gonna question the Iron Man?
Fans {ME} Love the Guy, but we all know this story! What fans want to hear more about from Cal is : What does he think about today's team and EVERY aspect as well as trades! You wasted 3/4 's of the interview, Why?
