The only thing that would have made the original six-track release of Echoes of Battle better would be the additional choir layer from 47:39 until the end of the track at 55:42; nonetheless, the alternate version of To Walk The Ashes of Dead Empires is very impressive and could have easily been included in the original 2013 release of Echoes, which would have made the top three of my Top 10 metal albums list, easily number 3 or 2. Fortunately, Shield Anvil and Mortal Sword (the composers of Caladan Brood) did include this alternate version in the vinyl release, and for that they have my eternal blessing. I look forward to the new album that you two guys will release sometime soon!
@@kevintheskullanderson2879 there was an interview with a label that said that it looks unlikable that they'll release a new album sadly. someone posted it in the comment section of the official caladan brood page.
The intro from City of Azure Fire sounds almost exactly like the main melody from Morrowind OST - The Road Most Traveled :D Great album, really makes me want to get into the Malazan book series.
It's SO worth it. I started reading because of this album, it's been a year and 8 books since I started and it's one of the best series I've read. If there's one thing I'd have to warn is that the books are slow, things will not make sense for a long time and there are plenty of questions you are gonna carry with you through many books before getting answers, but be sure that answers always come when they are meant to, so be patient because it's worth it.
It is so funny you said that. When I first heard this album, the very first thought in my mind was "Morrowind". One of my favorite games, and one of my favorite albums.
Es la primera vez que escucho esta banda.. Y esta excelente... Gracias por compartir estas joyas... Un gran abrazo desde Monterrey Nuevo Leon Mexico....
I never thought I’d describe a black metal album as “moving”, but this is it! It grips you by the heart! This is an album many people can appreciate without the band selling out. Easily in my personal top three. I could listen to it again and again. It’s a triumph.
Oh there are quite a few moving Atmospheric Black Metal albums. The guy behind this, Jake Rogers, had a previous project called Gallowbraid and it is mandatory listening. The big new name in the genre right now is Can Bardd, and you should definitely check them out, especially their second and third albums. The first is good, but it has a very muffled, "watery" production, like someone stuffed a mic in a pillow, tossed the pillow in an aquarium, and hit record. It's not bad album, but it's a bad place to start.
A great discovery. I can't believe there's only one album from this band. I don't recognize this as black metal at all. The croaky vocals are not enough to make this black metal. This is epic journey metal. Mountain view metal.
@@katak0404 My pleasure, Sojourner was a gem of a find and Premonitions album is best one so far imo. Also they seem very prolific and have dished out 4 albums in 5 years. Considering they live around the world And just share files with each other to record it's amazing how much of an atmosphere they create.
