This video is about indoor plant Calathea Plant care. Do's and Dont's to grow healthy calathea. It includes Calathea Ornata, Calathea Roseopicta Dottie, Calathea Zebrina and Stromanthe Triostar. #plantify #calathea
So true.. No matter how many times you killed them.. You just can't give up on them.. They are most beautiful plant i have ever seen.. But i learned from my mistakes.. They are doing petty fine now.. 😊
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! It’s definitive and provides all the information I was missing! I love Calatheas, but have killed at least 3! I just keep buying them.
I left my Calathea in the car under the scorching sun and the plant got all cripply, sad, and struggling. Then I brought it home and placed it beside my bed, giving water and hiding it from the direct sun. But it kept drying out until now, where my area gets rained on twice a week. Now there is a new leaf!
Omg thankyou so much! I didn’t know I was buying such a delicate plant. But how it started drying up and dying it was so heartbreaking for me i have been searching and thakGod cane across your video! Thankyou so much
Thank you so much, very informative video! I've gotten a Calathea just a week ago, precisely because I heard she's a diva among plants, so I called her Diva 😂 Good news is that I've been already following all the suggestions you mentioned, so I hope my plant will be happy, she's perky so far 😊 I've put her in a bathroom near my pothos plant, and since I work from home, I turn on the humidifier in the morning so I can create that moist, warm enviroment for them.
Very informative ❤ I love this plant so much, but couldn't ever keep them successfully, so I am literally afraid of buying them, but they ar so alluring, thats why whenever I go to Nursery I skip the corner of calathea literally like a blind person! I have gained some courage from your video, now next time I visit nursery i will definitely get a calathea and try keeping them with all your tips and tricks.. Thank you once again❤
Ur a life saver lol! Im a beginner and I just impulsively bought one the other day lol. She was so pretty I couldn’t resist. What have I gotten myself into 😅
Thank you very much for beautiful video. It was told rain water is good. In this situation can we use stored rain water of one week old? The reason is rain water can't get all the time. In the absence of rain water can we use mineral water meant for drinking i.e., Bisleri drinking water which sold in India. Another thing can we use ground water instead of tap water as tap water contains chemicals.
I just brought a propageted Calethea plant in a nursery pot.....and it leaves have started curling inside....I don't know whether to repot it in a bigger pot or let it season itself for a couple of days...plz guide...thank u so much for explaining everything so nicely......
That's a very unique and honest video based on personal experience. Even I have killed them but still want to bring again. Kindly let me know how to save them in extreme summers and winters of Northern India.
Thank you 😊 .. during summer, spay water regularly and water well when the soil is dry. In winter they go dormant, so water less, but try to keep humidity level high during dry months.. morning sun works well , but avoid strong or long sun exposure
I tend to view calatheas as long-lasting flower bouquets. I am often able to keep them alive for a period of time (1-4 years) but they eventually die on me. But it is still cheaper than buying a flower bouquet a month.
😀that's a good way... Yah.. 4 years is a good span I think... Better to propagate them..my almost died Calathea s re-grow leaves during spring/monsoon..but they never grew that fuller..so I bought another.. another way to think them as season flowers😀.. I also have other priorities than Calatheas..they keep me on my toes
Thank you very much for very informative video. As you suggested to keep a tray of marbles with water underneath of the calatheas plants. I would like to ask how much of water should be kept. If we keep more water, plant starts observing water and soil becomes soggy.

Thank you so much for the lovely comment ❤️... This plant is not so beginner friendly... need consistent care...don't need much fertilizer..but finding the balance is the key...I am also from Kolkata...I found dry winter months and extreme hot May June is challenging....and I lost mine when I went for vacation
Soil should be well draining ... good amount of cocopeat with soil and sand . Water when top soil is dry. Approx ratio - cocopeat:sand:soil: vermicompost- 40: 20: 20: 20
Hi In one of my plants few leaves are curling. Soil is moist and is in well drained soil. I live in kolkata. Can you help me. Do u mist the plants everyday or in a gap
Everyday during dry season... Now a days not misting as it is monsoon..but during the dry spell in monsoon it may happen..if old leaves are curling, don't worry..new leaves should come out healthy.
i repotted it and it died , i watered it some revived and some remailed folded ...its high maintenance plant no doubt but i find it really beautiful to be aound my home
While repotting, we should not disturb the root ball much... they may grow back..I have one that bounced back ..new leaves started growing...will share one video on that if it grows back fully

I’m wondering if this type of plant would benefit from a self watering pot. I bought a prayer plant some odd green variety and put it in a self watering plant pot and it doing amazingly well. I find some plants don’t do well in a self watering pot because they don’t like the consistent moisture I just bought a new calathea and I’m going to put it in a self watering pot hopefully it will do well.
I bought calathiya for my sister in law. I am taking big risk here. I decided to give calathiya plant for her and calathiya are very pretty and fussy plant. I found your video described about your experience very well. I shared this video to her. So she can take care her calathiya well.😊
Happy to know that.. ❤️... Calatheas are demanding plants..they need just right amount of water..not much not less..all the best for your mom in law.. hope her calatheas will thrive 😊
Low humidity is the main problem in winter in India..as the temperature is not too low in India. ..so increasing the humidity around the plants will help... And it should be consistent..so a humidifier or water tray would help..and please group the plants together..water frequently but in small quantity by spraying..and water thoroughly when the soil is dry.
@@flinthmar7994 DAP is best for flowering plants.. then you may use vermicompost or balanced npk... You may try applying cowdung liq very diluted.. be alert for fungal attack..spray fungicide once a month
Yesterday i re potted calathea which had burn leaves and was root bound.. So I seperated them, then loosen their roots and washed it and kept it in water for few hours and then re pot them with fresh soil and water it.. But today all leaves are drooping.. 😕🤔...
@@nabeela9327 I killed one Calathea Ornata while repotting , I removed all nursery soil and washed its roots..so now I just report without disturbing the roots at all
