I am on one of these as a supplement to other bp medication. Any food anywhere near taking gives stomach ache, so I grope for the tiny pill by the bedside about 3am.

Can't swallow pills since birth. Doesn't matter what size, shape or type. Always end up chewing it down to the level where I can swallow. Unfortunately, pharmaceuticals companies make very few medication as a liquid or chewable form. Recently prescribed a calcium blocker for my heart rhythm problem. Can't take the medicine since it can not be swallowed by chewing or crushing.
To make sure the patient does not become hypocalcemic, which can cause dysrhythmias because your heart cells (as with all muscle cells) need calcium to work properly. With calcium channel blockers, we want to decrease the amount of calcium getting into the cells, not completely block it.
