Hey thank you for your video however after your video, I was need to learn how can I calculate with regular calculator. So I researched and learned this... happy to share.... When we calculate the remainder (also known as the modulus) of one number divided by another number, we are essentially figuring out how much of the second number can fit into the first number, and what's left over. Let's take the example you gave: 263 mod 14. To calculate this, we can follow these steps: 1⃣ First, we divide 263 by 14: 263 ÷ 14 = 18.7857 We get a decimal answer, but we are interested in the remainder. 2⃣ We can ignore the quotient (the whole number part of the answer) and focus on the decimal part. 18.7857 3⃣ Next, we multiply the decimal part by the divisor (14) and round down to the nearest whole number. 0.7857 × 14 = 10.9998 result is → 11 This gives us the remainder (also known as the modulus) of the division. Therefore, 263 mod 14 is equal to 11. I hope this helps explain the process!

This is more natural if you see in in the perspective of group theory, the mod of any number b wtr. n is simply the offset of b in the "loop" of n. So when you compute the modulo you are trying to fit b into n's "size", and then assign it a specific "node" in its domain. Additionally that also means thst you can calculate inverses for ant number b, e.g. you can use the negative number missing for b to be a multiple of n (modulo n = 0) or calculate negative exponent. It's a very useful concept, I recommend checking it out :)

The second method in the video is true, your is close to it. When we get the result of the division, which is 18.7857, we multiply the quotient, which is 18, by the divisor which is 14, then subtract the result from the dividend, like this: 263 - 18 x 14 = 11 So the modulus is 11. We use the quotient not the decimal.

It is because we need to take integer value of 263%14 which is 18, but calculator will take 18.78, that's why it is showing zero

Because 263-263/14*14 IS 0. Unless you're using Base-N mode, where 263/14*14 is not 0, because 263/14 is an integer division in that case.

We will Break the number into small powers....i.e.lets say we have 800^7 mod 180....we will break it like (800^4 × 800^2 ×800^1) mod 180

You can solve this problem after that by using shift SD you get the solution for exemple 263 mode 14 you can do this 263 ÷14= then Sift S D you get 18 (11/14) and you have the answer the mod si 11 or pgcd or the remaind

that only works when the simplified mix fraction has the same denominator as the solution. 32 mod 12= 32/12 simplified as 8/3=2 2/3. Taking 2 as the answer which is wrong. This video is the best solution i have seen so far.

@@francesco5201 No shortcut on calculator...Have to learn the rules: 5^23mod124 = ((5^10)(5^10)(5^3))mod124 = [(5^10)mod124*(5^10)mod124*(5^3)mod124]mod124. By some this would be considered the long way, but it works every time.

You have to be in mode 'base-n' here's how to do it without this mode: [perform first operation] 263/14 = 18.7857 [Multiply the decimal of the result to the number you divided by] 0.7857 * 14 = 10.9998 ~ 11 use your best judgement to determine the whole number remainder

it works but you have to add B again at the end and use the subtract sign for the negative sign

It's great and it works, but as the base n function only accepts whole digits it doesn't let you plug exponents in the case of modular operations :( Guess the only way around it is doing a^m first and storing the value on ans and then using it for base n

Why does ⌊ 263÷4 ⌋ have to be floor ? If I use the fraction of 263 ÷ 4 in the calculation I get 0 as the remainder 🤔

it can't be done using a calculator but this specific example is simple because 23^30 is multiple of 23 so when we take a number multiple of 23 mod 23, the result will be zero
