How can I know when to use the first derivative test and the second derivative test? And what’s the difference between them ?

Hello, Love the vids Just wanted to clarify something, In the 2nd Question shouldn't it be sin x = -root 2/ 2

We probably should have shown that work. Mr. Bean was being a bit lazy. -2 / sqrt(2) is actually the same thing as - sqrt(2) / 2. You have to rationalize it by multiplying top and bottom by sqrt(2). So yes, is would be sin(x) = - sqrt(2) / 2 as well. Good catch!

@@TheAlgebros but if -sqrt(2)/2 = -2/sqrt(2) then if after simplifying it, 2 =4 would also be true, but it can't, so the initial statement can't be true either. Both statement aren't the same and hence why only 1 of them is ryt in the given problem
