At the beginning of the 17th century, there was only a road built with oak beams by the ruler of Wallachia, Radu Şerban, and at that time it was called Şerban Vodă Bridge. In the following century, it became an important street, known to everyone as the Beilic Bridge: this is where beys and other Turkish dignitaries entered the city, before being accommodated in the caravanserai built by Vodă Ypsilanti near the Royal Court.
