Hi, My name is Caleb and this video is my life. I'm posting from my dad's account. It was very difficult growing up always dealing with bone surgeries and fighting to overcome a Traumatic Brain Injury. My dad showed me the hundreds of comments and I have read so many. I wanted to just say thank you to the thousands of people who have reached out. It makes me feel special and loved. I am doing fine now but there are still other people that need your love and support. There are probably people that you know in your own life right now that could use a a kind word, an e-mail of encouragement, or just a friend. I encourage you to continue to share your love and kindness with those in need right now. PS: Yes I got a dog and her name is Star.
Ben S Howard Glad to know you are going better. Its not that a dog has healing powers, but oftentimes a dog will make a person forget about what's going on with them, and make the person engage with the dog. That's a huge step towards healing, it allows the person to forget for a short time about the present and lift their spirits. Dogs are great companions. I don't have a dog but my boss leaves his Yellow Lab at work all day while he's out doing service calls, so I have a shop dog all week. Its very comforting and relaxing really, having the dog at work, no matter how my day is going the dog always seems to sense that I'm having a bad day and come over to be petted or play ball. Glad to hear you got a dog as well, that's great.
Ben S Howard I love this video and I am so happy you are doing well. Dogs are pretty awesome and love unconditionally. They can be a great comfort and I wish you and your family all the best.
Ben S Howard It's quite amazing what you've accomplished since the accident. Through mental stimulation and perseverance, you allowed the brain to regenerate it's cell structure and regain your motor skills. There are people who grow up without essential brain functions such as motor skills and because of it, are often feared for being different. I hope your video causes society to understand these types of people and teaches them to not ridicule people who have disabilities, but instead to help them overcome their disabilities. Thanks Caleb for sharing your story. I hope you get infinitely better, oh and say hi to Star for me, I love dogs as well :)
seriously? gods blessing him? tell that to his dad who while having to fight for his son's recovery has to deal with the loss of his wife, daughter and other son!!! hate when people like you take advantage of such harsh circumstances to shove your religion down peoples throat and steal the credit for the good work done by people and credit God with it!!!! where was he when this family was desimated 😡😡😡😡
Dogs,do know, about injuries, emotions, and all that. My daughter and my self had a dog namend Binkey. Binky was a dog who was a bit of a down syndrom- dog if my daughter talked to him, cuddely words, he talked back, so sweet to see. My daughter Anne was going thru heavy times due the passing of my daddy her granddaddy, and from the first second until the last, Binky was at her side. Binky constantly watched every move she made. Sometimes my daughter hgad rude talk. Then Binky jumped up against her and layed his head on her chest. As if he wanted to make that close contact that she just needed. So this video is still amazing, cause it is a miracle! Daddy in the video, may God bless you and your loved ones!!!!!!
It’s October 2019 and I hope Caleb, his father and extended family are doing well.Caleb I wish you all the best in life, happiness, joy, safety and buckets of love and affection, love from Scotland ♥️🏴🇬🇧
Im soo glad Caleb got better!! :-) dogs are just the best , unconditional love and pure joy bothways. All poor dogs in shelters should be trained (if needed) and used for this, a win-win .
A wonderfully inspiring story. I was so pleased that you were able to update Caleb"s story. You seem to be a wonderful Dad and I cannot imagine what you have had to go through losing most of your family all those years ago. How great that Caleb is doing so well. My heart goes out to you and your family from Australia. xox
This it is a WONDERFUL story, my heart melted seeing how far he has come. Well done Caleb, you're a wonderful young man and have come so far. Keep going baby, you will keep going forward in leaps and bounds and one day you'll look back and realize 'wow, i couldn't have done it without him!'
This story really touched me. I worked in the health care field for 42 years, although I did not work specifically with children I did see quite a few. It always made me sad to see these kids in pain, it takes a special person who can work with kids all the time, like in a children's hospital, I am not certain I could have done it the mental anxiety is tremendous. The hospital where I worked started using therapy dogs a few years before I retired, you could see a difference in all the patients they touched. God bless the dogs and there handlers they bring joy and healing to so many.
This is such an inspiring story. I am a therapy dog in training and wish that one day I will be lucky enough to help children recovering and build such strong connections. Bliss.
Because they are afraid of living, which means they are afraid of feeling. Its okay to cry. Its okay to put yourself into someone else's life for a moment and feel what they are feeling. Its called empathy not sympathy!
I love dogs so much. God bless them all. They are amazing, and we are so blessed to have them. I'm glad you got your beautiful pup, Star, Caleb. I'm sure she has helped you to continue healing over the years. And I hope sweet Colonel lived a long, happy life. He certainly deserved it. ♥
It's wonderful to see that the bond between the boy and the dog could lead to such positive results for mind, body and soul. Caleb, be strong and healthy. Many blessings and prayes for you, sweet child!
What a beautiful story! God bless the volunteers and Colonel, and of course Mr. Howard, Caleb and all that were and continue to be involved in this program!
What a touching story. Shows how much progress this little boy made with the doggie. Just amazing. So happy for the parents and for the little boy too.
Animals can touch these children in ways we cannot understand. This is really great to see and I hope for more therapy animals to get involved. It is truly a blessing.
I'm a nurse and I don't have the courage to work in pediatrics. that takes a very special person. After seeing this, I wept, I wept for the suffering so many have endured. GOD bless!!
May God bless Caleb, always. The field of animal therapy should be given the attention it deserves to help people recover from life changing circumstances.
Halfway through this video, I scrolled to the comments to see if there were any recent posts. Was so happy to see the first comment was from Caleb himself!! Hot diggity dog!! Dad, so sorry for your loss. Blessings to you both.
What a blessing and miracle this child is and has been to me today. My eyes filled ro the brim when I saw him in the hospital. Then to see him slowly get better and better and stronger. Thank God he made it and he's just a pure miracle.
Celab you really are a true example of a miracle & a very brave wee boy. Your doggy friend is beautiful & so clever... I'm so glad to know like myself you have a great love for animals. Tell mum dad & gran... I know how they would have felt when you first had the accident... as my grandson only one years old at the time, was on life support with serious head trauma injurys too... Hes now 4yrs old & like you is, I beleive a miracle.! xx
My Roy is a therapy dog and every week I see him perform miracles. Patients, often feeling their absolute worst, rise to the occasion when Roy visits. Their faces light up and the gather strength they did not know they have. And Roy, he thinks it is all about him!
Caleb is a little sweetie I am happy that he is doing so well. The therapy dogs are just amazing in how they are able to get children to relax in stressful situations and to help heal the children in a way no human can do.
Ben Howard, I don't know where you got the strength to carry on after losing your wife, son and daughter in the crash. Caleb is a remarkable young man and you must be so proud of him. Caleb's reaction to the dog and his amazing recovery shows the power of animal therapy, My best wishes to you and Caleb not forgetting all those who helped him along the way.
What a wonderful and amazing story! Thank you to Caleb’s dad, Caleb, the whole hospital team that took Caleb under their wing, and shared this beautiful story. 🤗💯🙏🏻
Oh man I just cried! That was too Awesome, the help you are giving that child 👶 words could not express! At first I’ll admit it was hard to watch, being a dad myself but when I saw that boy 👦 light up, it was all worth while...
There is truly no better friend than your 🐕......I watched various videos all night on the dogs roll in the happiness of humans.....I just wish that dog's would live much longer...... They are so smart, cute and lovable......Thanks for all the 🐕 Dog lovers out there,.🙋

"the child forgets of therapy and becomes focused on playing" :-) ... magnificent animal soul, all there, inconditional love, all we need to grow, although much humans just can t yet "see" .
Wow, amazing!...Go Caleb, praying nothing but the best for you!...you have an awesome Dad, one who loves you very much!...and the lady therapist and lady with the retriever were awesome as well...God Bless.
This is beautiful. This little boy brightened my whole day in just 4 minutes. So many problems and stress really is so small compared to his story. This leaves me so hopeful. God bless all of you
Thank you for sharing - this was one of the worst/best stories ever. What courage this little guy had and how the retriever and his handler able to assist was amazing.

Very uplifting and moving. You can clearly see animal therapy works. In a patient's point of view a therapy dog or even cat would be like radiant sunlight through dark clouds.
I am incredibly moved. While watching, I cheered as I saw Caleb get better and better! So very happy to hear he is doing so well now. Dogs ARE amazing! I'm not surprised it was a dog that helped him along. Dogs are extraordinary animals, as are horses. They are both exceptional, therapeutic animals! Love and best wishes to Caleb! (And Colonel too!!)
Thank you for sharing your story. I am so sorry for your losses.....I cannot even begin to imagine the trauma of losing your loved ones. I so admire the courage of father, Ben, and son, Caleb. A huge amount of effort for all. Dog therapy is the best! I had a Golden Retriever, and loved him to the moon! All the best. G.
I also have brain damage from a stroke I had as a baby witch left me paralyzed on the right side of my body. I have seizures from it. this lil guy is awsome
Rena White I know you commented a year ago on this video that I am just watching today, but my son also had a stroke shortly before I had him and he to was paralyzed on his right side...he is 20 now...he does walk but can not use his right arm or hand...hope you have a great day
This ia an amazing video. So happy for Caleb and his dad. Glad Caleb is doing well. Thank God for Therapy Dogs and their handlers. Colonel is so beautiful. God bless all. .
So happy to hear of Caleb's process and so sorry for your losses. Thanks for sharing and I wish you all great peace and happiness as you continue on your life's journey. The power of animals to heal is absolutely awesome!!
The difference between the before and after! At first he wouldn't talk or smile and he couldn't move and then he was smiling and talking and throwing the ball. That is really incredible!
La combinaison du savoir et des outils des Hommes et de l instinc de l animal....voir cet enfant sourire et progresser et magnifique !!!!! Bravo et bravo au petit bonhomme 💕
