I recently received the Calf camera as well, and I can say that the difference in quality between the Calf and the Canon R5C with the fisheye lens is quite large. Having both of them, I wouldn't use the Calf for anything professional, despite it's price, it still performs like a consumer camera.

Unfortunately it won't work a 360 camera. You'll need a 3D VR 180 camera for such shots (or to build a small rig of 2 pieces of 360 cameras). Insta360 only had one model like this, called Insta360 EVO, but now you cannot buy it, unless you find secondhand models online. (The Insta360 store discontinued selling it.)

It’s too close , lots of time it’s very awkward how close we are to the subject , especially when it’s close to your parts or when it’s too close to the ground .

Great quality, are you doing some denoising in your editor? Any custom settings on the camera?

No, I didn't apply any denoising. It's straight out from the camera even in the low-light shots. However there is an in-camera denoising setup, which I kept at the factory settings during the test. (But you ca go even higher or lower if you want so.) Unfortunately manual shutter speed setting wasn't available on my test camera, but I could play around with the ISO, keeping it as low as possible all the time.

@@GabaVR ok I get quite a lot of noise everywhere in darker spots of the image even in daylight, and the denoising feature adds other visual artifacts. I wonder if there's a difference between the early test cameras and the ones shipped through kickstarter.

What about the fact that RU-vid only encodes videos as 4K? Of course, you can try to distribute your videos on a service like DEOVR, but so far it is not so widespread and universal.

Actually RU-vid supports 8K with VR videos. Somehow 6K is the missing playback option. But I think the quality of the raw material matters a lot, so if you upload 6K videos they will look better than native 4K footages. Or maybe you can even upscale to 8K during rendering, but I haven’t tried that option yet.

Who is the manufacturer of this 3D video camera? I cannot get much information about it over Internet.

Hi, It’s a chinese manufacturer, also running a VR app (like VR TikTok) for headsets. They launched this camera on Kickstarter, and basically you can still order it on their own website.

Is the sound of the guitar in the beginning recorded with the on-board microphones of the Calf camera, or did you use another recorder or microphone?

I used the same lav mic under my tshirt mixed with the in-camera sound a little bit.

Great video. Just got the camera. How do you enable stabilization? I don’t see it in the settings

It’s automatic, you can’t turn it on and off manually. As you can see in the handheld shots, it’s pretty good. While the camera is quite heavy itself, which is very useful in avoiding handshakes.

Hi , on video it say 3d video, so here is not 3d video right ? 3d is 2 picture left and right here on youtube i see only 1

It’s 3D VR180, so you can look left-right and up-down, while you can see a stereoscopic image when using a VR headset. Actually it’s a side-by-side video, but on computer and phone RU-vid only projects one of the pictures (one of the lenses). Of course, there’s another 3D format on RU-vid which you can only watch with a cardboard or a mini VR glass, using your phone. Then it will project both pictures side-by-side, so it won’t be enjoyable without a cardboard or VR glass. And of course, it won’t cover the entire 180 field-of-view and you won’t be able to look around. In my next tutorial I will talk about these different formats and showcase the shooting, editing and publishing process in both cases.
