It really sucks man. I am letting my Freightliner go too. I've denied California business for a couple of years, but the economy sucks and I need more loads. It's a nice old truck from the 90s that was always strong and reliable. Those dummies at the ARB post videos on youtube stating "That a diesel truck puts out really hot emissions and soot, so they need it to have an SCR." IN a few years they will b bitching that trucks use too much fuel. Well its horse shit man. Because a guy has to sit there idling for 40 minutes to do a "regen" at full idle. If all of my business was NOT out in California, i Would have kept my truck and told anyone that wants a shipment to California to tell their ARB to suck a nut, they ain't getting their load. I've talked to those ARB guys and they are just dumb children that don't know anything about diesel engines, trucks and all.
I have had a conversation with those dumbasses also. I met one of the most arrogant people I've ever met on the phone. He went into telling me how much better fuel mileage I would get and this and that and that and this. Didn't know Jack schitt about Trucking or truck. Bought a 2013 Cummins nothing but trouble since the day I had it. Every time I turn around I was in the shop. Burns a gallon of oil for every 4000 Miles because the Rings are carbon up from back pressure from that crap. This sensor that sensor you're lucky if you can get half a million miles without rebuilding the motor. And also if you take all that crap off of it you double your fuel mileage. You double your long engine life. What they have done to the trucking industry is Criminal. I know people that bought brand new rigs paid $160,000 for them and cannot keep them out of the damn shop
