In 2020, the Cisco caste case divided many in India and the US over caste and caste-based discrimination in Silicon Valley and American universities. The case also led to a movement in the US where identity politics among Indian-American Hindus took centre stage. What a TERRIBLE interviewer! Constant and sustained interruption, not allowing the interviewee to finish his/her point, repeatedly diverting the conversation, beating upon a dead point and worst of all a terrible body language. . . which school of journalism did you go to? I stopped watching the video after the third time it was cut (edited) halfway through a reply. Such an important topic and person who is responding with data and facts. Brahmins have been enjoying undeclared reservation for 3 thousand years when they monopolised education to only them as per caste system and devoid shudras and Dalits of their educational rights until the arrival of the likes of Phules and Babasaheb into the mainstage. So Brahmins merit is connected to their caste privileges that they've enjoyed for ages.

@gauthamkitty7149 you're wrong as Brahmins were given education in olden days on vedas. Vedas has many divisions & naturally become well versed in many subjects. Many other castes were also well versed in their own fields for ages. Eg. Carpenters,weacers....all were expert in their respective field & passed on their skills to next generation. As Brahmins job itself from the beginning was studying it came to then naturally. Later due to invasions whole demography changed & and hell lot of differences.

Yes but corporates are very powerful and he is senior most. This is also how racism happens against blacks in america. Suddenly everything that one person does becomes criminal and the corporate collective stands in the white light of truth. I wish this person who has claimed discrimination was also present. As long as you are talented, hard working and motivated and they know that you can make money for the Corporates they will hire you and shower millions of dollars on you. That is the American Corporate culture . That is how Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella and hundreds of Indians have reached the top posts in Corporates. Even this gentleman has those qualities and that is why he is "senior most" !

There is racism and enough upper caste Indians have gone and taken advantage of their merit system. I am not saying they don't have the capability. But they also close th door behind them for others. If what Sunder Iyer says is true, the California Civil Rights Dept has much to answer. I will be sending them a written question asking for explanation especially on the points of 1) why they did not investigate whetehr there was real discrimination or not and 2) why they dropped the case and waste my money either by filing the case or by dropping it.

I have no disrespect to Jyoti Yadav but she needs to learn how to do an interview. She seems to be influenced more from the Main Stream Media such Republic, NDTV, Timesnow. Like all those interviewers in those main stream media she is constantly interrupting the conversation. The one think I like about The Print is that the conversation such as these are brought forward and are interesting to listen to, but it is quite annoying when it is hosted by such interviewers. It is my personal opinion I did not like the way the conversation was interrupted by Ms Jyoti Yadav.

Great interview and it once again brings to light the way people are using caste as a basis for reverse discrimination. Sunder was discriminated against not just by his employee but also by CRD just because of his last name. I think the employee is after CISCO's money. The interviewer has mostly done a good job but in some instances she interrupts the interviewee and jumps to conclusions. She can be more patient and remember that this interview is not to be adversarial but to let him explain his side of the story.

Grateful to the print and jyoti ji for this. caste based discrimination is bad but what is happening by playing victim card by wrong people is worse. Reservation mostly goes to people who are least likely to be affected by discrimination, People misuse SC/ST act in India is so common. Whenever wrong people use this victim card, it has very bad effects on real victims. Nothing is going to change in India, now I think this follows you even if you leave India. Victim card is very dangerous weapon used by everyone now. Everyone include minority, majority, general category caste, obc caste, sc/st caste, etc.

Ever since caste politics started in India, ( since 1950), it is easy for Muslims and Dalits to bring Caste Discrimination into the equation. . Look at the Open quota in IITs. How many have gotten in? Muslims and Dalits , including Cricket player Azahuruddin , have used the caste card. I blame Nehru for all this. Is Mulayam Singh parivar OBC? Should there be a rule that in caste based reservations, you should look at the economic backwardness? Yadavs are not OBC, they are wealthier than most castes, but have been included in the reservation category. Neither is Mayavati. Caste is important, but also economic backwardness.

You both interviewer and interviewee use the term Dalit. But this is recognised in Indian legal system, census, etc. The only category known in India since the constitution is Scheduled castes (and scheduled Tribes.) . There is no point using this this non existent term.

Jyoti I commend you for a good interview.. your counter questions showed that you were informed of the issue, you had a lot of background knowledge and you came across as critical not gullible ( lots of interviewers are gullible or complicit) Congrats!

every individual deserves respect and basic courtesy. And one should be lot more humble and respectful, when the other person is more accomplished than you. Sundar has achieved far more than Jyothi. In the entire conversation, Jyothi etiquette reeks of arrogance that comes from wokeness. Sundar hats off to you for putting up with her. Dear SG, its fine to ask questions to ur guests, counter their answers, examine them critically. But all these can also be done with better etiquette, like you do in your interviews (walk the talk). may be jyothi doesnt bother to observe and learn from you. This arrogance is big put down as Arnab's noise.

The interviewer is childish: Sundar: I don’t believe in caste, I am not even religious. It is the CRD that defined that caste is Hindu. Interviewer: but you are born in that caste… People born as female or male identify another gender, some identitied as lizard, cat. People born as Christian becomes Hindu or vice versa… why her thinking is so rigid? On another note: If you are Hindu you should be alarmed.

Jyoti do a better job. More intelligent questions, please. Weird the line of questioning as if you are a Brahmin you have the burden of proof that you are not anti Dalit. This kinda of excuse has gone on and on for a long time. Sundar thank god had enough evidence to set him free. The left world over has gone mad with identity politics.

What the hell is going on with these abrupt cuts in the interview? It comes up dubious as if the print does not want the audience to hear what the person has to say. Very very condescending. It you did an interview then either publish it fully or not publish at all.
