Californian here: I fully agree. Live catch and release is a hard job, and when you have to kill something you love, that job just gets harder.

I was sitting in a vet's waiting room in rural Arkansas and a very old woman came in with an adolescent bobcat in a big pet taxi. She had poor eyesight and thought it was a cat that was always hanging around her property. She brought it in to have it fixed and given its shots. They explained to her it was a bobcat and she was duly alarmed, but I've always wished I'd asked her how she got it in the pet taxi.

Pure stupidity. Once we removed the apex predators of any region, WE have to step in and put in our part to contribute to keeping the species that we hunt healthy and thriving. It would be irresponsible for us to mess with the natural balance of things and not step in as the stewards that God appointed us to be.
