I miss the Shop Rite Super Market , Bakeries , Deli's , Greek Diners & New York Pizza & Chinese Food . All the fires out in California are so sad . Glad my family & I didn't move out there decades ago . Years ago Suzanne Somers lost her home in a California Fire . Cory from being in the Navy did it affect your hearing at all ? I have tinnitus in both ears & mild high frequency hearing loss . Last hearing test also picked up on my low-frequency hearing is starting to be affected .
I live in a very small town. We don’t have large stores but we do have an awesome corner store. Owned by a Korean family that are now Canadian citizens. They are the most personable couple in their 60’s. Never had children because of the racism they had to deal with themselves. Sad. But they are very happy to have had an opportunity to grow a small business and be a huge part of our little community.
I would miss Robie’s Food Center in Abbeville, Louisiana where I live. The best specialty meat department. The best chicken salad family recipe, as well as Italian sausage and meatballs.
My hubby and I are retired firefighters (how we met) ... we have flown all over the country fighting wild fires in our day.. our bodies have given out on us now, so not so much anymore... but what we would do to be able to still do it!
Well poop! That brush is out of stock and they don't know when it'll be back! I think what I love about watching your adventures, this completely erases peer pressure. The girls are free to be your kids, free to enjoy the adventures on their own levels, without worrying about 'being cool'! What a gift for them and you! Always prayers for the firefighters!! My 22 year old granddaughter is one of them now!
I think my dad just ordered the last one, serious 🙈😃 they will have more 😎 peer pressure is definitely greatly diminished, not erased completely however due to technology(they are not on social media yet) thank you for the encouragement 🙏 have the best night!
I am a little late. I am from Northern California. In 2016 (if I remember right) quite a few friends lost everything in a fire in Sonoma. In 2018 85% or more of my friends and coworkers lost everything in the Camp Fire in Paradise California. Every one of them told stories of absolute horror driving through walls of fire trying to get out. Only to find themselves homeless. Many of them ended up living in cheap old camp trailers often with no A/C for several years with summers in the 100-115 degrees. I don't know how they didn't die from heat exhaustion. I left California, but I am planning to buy an RV at the beginning of next year to be able to travel full time. I see it as the perfect bug-out home. I can take my home with me. Because let's face it, everywhere has seasons like their fire season.
Wow! Those mountains heading into Vegas were absolutely gorgeous! We will have to go that way next time we are in the area. I hate driving in construction zones but it doesn't faze Mike at all and his trucker blood haha
Imo it is completely and utterly classless of you to go and be spectators to a wildfire where the residents are being evacuated. If you're not there to help, leave! You're hindering the locals by being just another vehicle on the road who's just there for their own amusement. This is from someone whose home was a total loss due to one of these fires 3 years ago.
That is awful to read, so sorry to hear you lost your home, on top of irreplaceable items. I can’t imagine how life changing that is. We were there to help, we asked if there was anything we can do, everyone said they thought they had it covered, they said “thank you so much for asking” . Honestly you are to first negative response that I’ve seen. Between here , FB, Instagram, emails, and messages everyone said they appreciated the awareness and the recognition of the hard work of the firefighters( from home owners that experienced fires to firefighters themselves) . No one lost their home in this fire luckily. Is it wrong for a news crew to cover a fire? we recently came upon an RV on fire where they lost everything and had no insurance. I took a couple photos and was able to share those and raise several thousand dollars for that person. Without the photos that would have been impossible.
Use the storage locks, it keeps the doors propped slightly open when not being used, a small latch behind the handles, just pull the door slightly open and slide the locks into place
We watch your adventures weekly. We have an 8 yr old that said she would never want to travel like that. Now after seeing all you have done she has slow transitioned to “when are we going to find our someday”. We inspire to do this one day with our girls!
Born and raised in Cali... Unfortunately fire season has taken on a whole new meaning over the last few years. It’s is heartbreaking. My cousin lost her home and all of their possessions in the Santa Rosa fires. We are just grateful they made it out safely. I guess my uncle saw the fire in the distance, in the middle of the night after having a hard time sleeping. The wind was so high, they only had time to wake up the neighborhood before trees started catching fire. They said it felt like Armageddon. 💔
Sorry to hear about your cousin, at least they were safe! It’s definitely sad and scary. When the wind picked up I was completely shocked how fast the fire spread! Very scary stuff! Thanks for staying up late to watch, have a great rest of the night!
Left Cali 20 years ago and never looked back. I was a firefighter before I left but found better grounding north of CA. No bad comments about CA but wouldn’t return.
i was born and rasied in Irmo,South Carolina but moved to Calif in 07 .i have a grandma who is in her 90's in Lexington,Sc and from what i'm told everything has changed since i been gone
Yes the Virgin river gorge on the I-15 is pretty spectacular. There is a camp ground in the middle of it but most of the time it's closed. The swimming pool shots were great! Your girls looked like they did love swimming. Great video (as always) thanks for the content. PS No jumping into the pool Cory! 🤦
Hope you had a wonderful time when you were visiting back here in Maine. We haven't left yet, but will get on the road this summer. I think we'll drive to Fort Kent and start our travels there visiting relatives and friends along the way before leaving the state. I know I'll miss Bissell Brothers. I have the cap and glass that go with your shirt :-) At least we have been able to buy their beer in Bangor during COVID. Fires out west are scary. I've only witnessed the aftermath, but we definitely don't have them like that here. My father flew the water bomber (Dehavilland Beaver) for the Maine Forest Service when I was a kid. Stay safe. I'm sure we'll meet on the road sometime. ~Edie
Newly found fan! We were on I-15 a few weeks ago on vacation driving between Denver and Las Vegas. Rounded a corner in a cavern and traffic was stopped. Found that an Amazon semi truck had tipped over. Wind gust got him. I stopped the video at 3:00 mark and looked at pictures I took. The semi was up around the corner. Drive safe!!
First time I’ve caught one of your vids. We full time and are Maine-iacs too. You don’t have the Downeast accent but you also don’t have the Canook accent. Can’t wait to hear where in Maine you go.
Glad you found us! Always great to hear from other Mainers! We didn’t do a ton in Maine we went up to Acadia and stuck around the Portland area, we mostly just took the time to hang out with family and friends. No accents here for the most part, it comes out here and there though😃
The fires this past year were the worst in our CA history. We in Monterey witnessed the sight you saw here in this video ourselves in our Santa Lucia Mountains. As devastating as it was in our little county it was much worse in the counties north and east of us. People always talk about the earthquakes of California but, in fact, it's the fires and mudslides that are so dangerous. The smoke here was so bad that we had a few days where it looked like we lived on Mars with this freaky orange light and the glowing orb of the sun. The sight is horrendous and I'm glad you caught it in video so that others can see what it is like.
I miss the mall by my home town. I always I got hot pretzels there. It’s not the same at the mall here in Henderson Nv. I hate going through these mountains like that to get to Utah and to back to Vegas they are narrow and they curve and they are too close. Those California fires were bad. Last year was the worst I have ever seen in my life. Glad you were making a trip to see a new family member. Looking forward to seeing how it went on your next video. How long ago was this video? If you don’t mind me asking. I never saw that part of California you stayed at Idyllic. Not sure how to spell it. But it looked like it was a cute small town. Thank you Corey I hope you have a great week and see you all this Sunday. Stay safe and safe travels.
I am late in watching this video but needed to comment. The fire, while this one was small with little damage, brings memories flooding in. I lost my place this year to the Dixie fire in North East California. I have grown up here and had to evacuate several times with great outcomes until this year. The emotions you were feeling watching this fire just hit me so hard. It is devestating to lose your belongings, house, shop etc but then to have to try to remember everything you had is even more gut wrenching. As if that isn't hard enough then to search the internet to find current pricing of all your possessions from New items to antiques and family heirlooms was almost more than I could stand.
You guys are a half-hour from my home! Don’t you love Idyllwild? We go up quite a bit to get out of the valley heat. It can get crowded up there...you picked a good time ! 💜. Have fun going home!
Enjoyed this one. Yes, the 15 heading into Vegas is so beautiful. I agree about Bryce...going in September and can’t wait. So sad about the fires but so real here in our beloved California. God bless all our firefighters and all emergency personnel!!! Have a blast in Maine. Went for our 25th to New England to see 🍁🍂and fell in love with Acadia NP and the hiking there. Also enjoyed the tips we got for Yellowstone & Grand Teton...also going there & Zion this year. Not a bad 60th bday gift huh? 😃👍🏼🌲🐻
So happy YT suggested your channel! Just found you guys :) Great content, I can appreciate good editing...Cali natives here and we just returned from Idyllwild last week, we have a 36' class A so imagine the fun on those roads...I know this was shot a while back due to fires, and what you experienced was a baby fire compared to what we're used to! Scary nonetheless...And yes, love and support to our 1st responders! Looking forward to watching more of your content.
You guys just seem to find the beauty every where you go..... (opening scenes, drone and travel shots)...... The fires in California are no joke and the firefighters are some of the best in the world. God bless them all.... it is NOT an easy job!!.... Safe travels!! ...Hope you enjoyed your return home. Look forward to the continuing travels of the FOS crew!!!
Hi I just subscribed ... You know normally I'm just not into family Nomads because it's just me.lol but I so enjoy your videos and your photography videos are just awesome! I'm not a big fan of Arizona because it's so desert. But omg those Canyon mountains you were going through they were so freaking gorgeous! I'm going to have to back up the video to where you guys said what highway it is! Anyway love your videos and you guys seem like a really sweet family! I love kids don't get me wrong and they've always loved me I guess I'm on their same level?😆 but I was never able to have children so maybe it's a sore subject then you get older almost every single friend has had kids so then everything's about the grandkids!!! So it just never ends! If that makes any sense. But anyway really love your vid thanks for sharing! p.s. thank you so very much for the spray on wax I'm needed to do that this week what a godsend.. I'm I'm no longer physically able to do any type of traditional waxing. So I'll be ordering that tomorrow!! Safe travels💗
The Virgin River gorge is beautiful. There are small arches in the canyon. At Cedar pocket, go north, opposite the old rest area, and follow the road back in and you will see big horn sheep. Since you went through there, the road work is done. I spent many years traveling back and forth through there from Overton, NV to St George, UT. I was a kid when it was being built. Only on person died during construction. There was also a military jet that crashed in it while on a training run.
Maybe the best video yet. Lots of personality! BTW there's a trick to hold open your fridge door for storage. Use the clips that divide the door shelves. Watch: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h5zrGLLNFBo.html
Great video you guys! Love that Thousand Trails I used to work at the Fire Station at the bottom of the hill. Loved riding my mountain bike through the trails up there. Hope you are doing great.
Thanks a lot for the wonderful journey you've taken and shared with us. I've got one question. Is there a new video coming up next week? Or do we have to wait till you're back at your RV?
Wow, I haven't seen Idlewild since I was a kid, my Dad was a sheriff and one of his friends was one there, sure looked different, anyway have fun back home...
Wow....those fires are something, and I don't mean that in a good way! Thank goodness we don't have those like that here in the northeast (PA) and I'm sure Maine. I really feel for those that lose their homes and belongings because of that. Thanks again for sharing!
I haven’t been in my hometown since thanksgiving 2016. I miss my family and friends obviously but also the food. I really miss the food. My parents and in-laws come to Arizona every year so I don’t really need to go to Puerto Rico but I hope to go next year because I haven’t seen my grandma for far too long. Having family and friends who are firefighters makes me really dislike arsonists. Prayers to all the FD heroes out there and stay safe! Btw I’m sad that we just missed you guys when you came to Yuma. Next time don’t forget to go to Donut Corral.
Another great video, I can't say it enough, Corey your video are they best out there I can hardly say that to anyone else after seeing what you produce. Thanks for sharing looking forward to what you show in my neck of the woods. As always stay safe, safe travels, and God bless love ya Nancy
California fires are scary. We have a lot of friends that lost their homes in the Camp fire. We had a 27 acre fire behind our home in the foothills in Northern CA when our kids were young. A fire department truck from one of the local stations was stationed at our house and protecting it. Feel for those that have lost their homes in wildfires.
Oh Hannaford's... yes. We just found out there is one 40 minutes from us. For Angela when she goes "home to Maine" Pat's Pizza is on her list. Strawberry soda is not as good as 6 year old Angela remembers 🤣
We leave our fridge doors open during storage to let things dry out really good, preventing mold, but that's me. We'll be in Portland ME in October during peak color, then drive back home to So. Calif by Thanksgiving. The fire season in So. Calif is the worst in Fall, when the Santa Ana wind blow the most.
Sandra Westley from the UK we have a latch on the fridge door you just turn and it holds the door just open, you cannot close it by accident, so it avoids any chance of mold .
Glad to hear sorry I memtioned it Was pretty quiet for Us. Pat's got dentist appointments I've got projects on Trlr to get done and get my VA id card now that We found my DD214 form I needed. Hope you both have a great week.
We actually had a really good experience with them. We also we’re having something pretty straight forward done. They were very accommodating. I take it you had a bad experience there...
You mentioned Hanford market, their baked goods locked us in as fans in 2017! I’d just retired and we were visiting all my nephews & nieces in the northeast because I never had a chance to do it prior. I’m originally from upstate NY and have been living in FL since discharge from AF in ‘72. Visiting parents, offsprings and siblings was all we could do. I have a nephew in ME, a niece in MA, others in NY, PA, NC, ID. Haven’t made it to ID yet, Obamacare clipped my wings ($$$$$) 2018. Enjoy your stay at home! Love your videos.
Thank you, and thank you for your service! Glad to hear you have experienced Hannafords! I do hope you are able to make it to ID, we are hoping to spend some time there this summer. All we have done there so far is Craters of the moon, a few episodes ago! We loved it! Thanks for taking the time to comment, have a great rest of the week!
Our video time line is in order from the beginning, it’s just behind 😃 we put the date in the beginning of the video. This was September of 2019 , we have a couple more episodes from 19 and we only filmed about 10 episodes in 2020 . We will be caught up to real time later this year.
Always a joy to see you guys. Love your vlogs, cant wait for the next one. Those forest fires looked so scary the firefighters are heroes just glad no one was hurt. See you soon. ❤❤🇬🇧
I love Maguires too! The fires in Cali brought back memories of the fires in my back yard in the Smokies a few years back. It's just so sad. On a happier note I'm a long time follower Our lively tribe . Love their travels and now the added renovation aspect. I'd love to have them Reno an RV for me someday ❤❤❤. I know yall loved the trip back home. Like Dorothy says theres no place like home . That moose !!!! Maine is still on my bucket list!!!!
I’m so happy to hear you follow them already! They are amazing, Travis does an incredible job on the renovations! Lots to share with them coming up! Thank you 🙏
Boy O Boy does this video bring back some memories for me. My family used to camp in Idyllwild in a camp ground just like that 40 years ago when I was a kid. Because I'm old and senile at this point I dont remember the camp ground by name but it does bring back memories of chugging up that hill in our 34 foot Surveyor. The other piece was earlier in your video when you were driving that 40 mile stretch thru Arizona between St George and Mesquite. I got pulled over in that canyon at night doing the speed limit, no lie. The officer was doing 10 under so I decided to pass and got pulled over..🤣. He looked at my pregnant wife pretending she was sleeping in the back of the car and let me go with a warning. After 29 years of marriage we still laugh about that today. Always look forward to your videos and this was another great one. Thanks.
Beautiful Campground . Is your microwave convection also ? Nice of your friends letting you leave the RV & truck on their property for a month .Where are you staying in Maine & do you have a car there or renting one ? Hope y all had a good flight home to Maine . Was it a nonstop flight ?
I hope you guys are well. For Mainiacs that love ice cream, you forgot to mention Giffords ice cream in Maine. Some of the best in the country! Gunner still loves to watch your videos.
Really nice video. Good to see it all worked out. First responders in my family thank you for support and understanding. Somedays you just need to kick off the shoes and go for a swim. If your ever in my neck of the woods and need a place to park for a bit and hang out or to fly out, we have a pad and an outlet available.
Sandra Westley from the UK we just spray it on and leave it on, same sort of idea, but now at our age we get someone to do it for us. We store our van now we are in our mid 70 tys down on the coast, at the site they get our rig out and a garage picks it up does a service on it to keep it in warranty, then a chap comes and washes and polishes it for us, then they return it to site and set in up and level it all for us, 😂😂 we just connect up water and waste and we are all set for our stay. We have spent the,ast 45 years travelling all over Europe, and really enjoyed it all, even the crazy happenings that occur with lots of travelling
I don’t blame you! Sounds like you have definitely earned it! I’m sure you have some stories to tell! I’ve been to a few places in Europe while in the Navy , but I really want to take the family there! Thanks for watching! Have a great rest of the week!
Yes, this is that same trip that they were in Maine. We have a few more episodes from 2019 and we only filmed 10 ish episodes in 2020(to alleviate our backlog) . We will be real time this fall😃
We needed to use up our whipped cream and hot fudge 😃 honestly we prefer making our own sundaes . Not only because I’m picky, but we prefer relaxing in our home, and it’s more affordable.
Hey Corey and Jessie.....been following you guys for a while now, and really enjoying your adventures and commentary and drone work...Have not commented up until now....feel like you cover all aspects of your travels and make it feel like we are along for the ride!!!!This video is one of your best with the fires and all!!!Keep up the good work.....from Hank and Pam from South Texas...
It’s good to hear from you, Hank! I appreciate you taking the time to send a note! Thanks for the feedback, I try my best to edit in a way that you feel like your along for the ride, it’s encouraging to read that is translating that way! My parents just moved from south Texas back to Maine after 10 years (Corpus Christi) thanks again!
@@FindingOurSomeday Wow.. that's two extremes between hot and cold....Texas to Maine. We lived in New York for 35 years and now in Texas...Will look forward to your upcoming videos...
Going back home in May and honestly I'm not sure what to say yet, its really not home after 12 years of being away now. Think we'll be shocked how much it's changed a town of 100,000+ does change so we'll see.
@@FindingOurSomeday I am from Joliet, Illinois 40 miles south of Chicago so a Southside kid who only roots for Northside Teams. It's been so long our son lives about 2 hours north but this is our first trip that we plan to go back for. As a family we lived there for 5 years then a shooting in our quiet neighborhood made us leave for good. 47 years is a long time to live in an area so I still have lots of friends and connections. I'm excited to see friends and enjoy a bit of the great food again.
I have heard of people having luck with that! We bought 2 products one for rodents and one for insects . I forgot to show them in the video🤦♂️ We sprayed and sprinkled them around the RV at points where the RV touched the ground and possible entry points.
@@FindingOurSomeday use Google lol, in Auburn, They sell everything that smells like Maine. Insense, the Famous Log house , embroidered pillows and much more., As you know Maine has the best smelling air," in my opinion "
Life of the world of trailers and RV’s. In MT and other states we haul many things behind our rigs. Funny how others in other states are not so connected with our life. Cheers🙏
